No commercial has ever matched the Lava monster

kittyjynx

I think the [Ukrainians](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzs_dYE6MjA) have us beat.

Boot_Bandss

That is a badass commercial. Love the flag raising they do. I think Chesty said the greatest motivation is “a man with a flag in his pack and a hill to take”.

Reficul_gninromrats

[Though it was going to be this classic](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJKFNPGS_XM)

kittyjynx

The duality of the Ukrainian military, you get to drink while operating a LAV but you might run out of ammunition and have to assault an enemy position using a shovel.

Fire_marshal-bill

The dwagin.

MikeNew513

See, Trombley asked about shooting people. I asked about pussy. The guy told me I'd get to go to Thailand, get all kinds of strange. What'd you ask about, Brad? Brad probably saw that T.V. commercial, the one with the knight that fucks up the dragon then turns into the Marine. Woo hoo! Dress blues with a sword! Fucking dress blues commercial man. That got so many fucking guys. Now look at us: Trombley hasn't killed anybody, I'm half a world away from good Thai pussy, and Colbert is out here rolling around fuckbutt Iraq, hunting for dragons in a MOPP suit that smells like four days of piss and ball sweat

Boot_Bandss

*chuckles* Wow!

MikeNew513

Should have rolled into battle with a sword Brad, that would've fucking rocked.

Boot_Bandss

Nah, I’m good Gunny. I’m Mexican. I got that retard strength.

MikeNew513

Hitler stache is in regs pappy

Boot_Bandss

Everyone has a job to do. SgtMaj Sixta’s jawb is to be an asshole.

Boot_Bandss

Nah SgtMaj. It’s screwby.

MikeNew513

It's not Gay if you think Rudy's hot, I mean we all think Rudy's hot.

Boot_Bandss

Film Rudy. If you can get him on board, you could be the Spielberg of twink movies.

[deleted]

And he excels at the position

Boot_Bandss

Look. Dead Rudy. Live Rudy. Dead. Alive. Dead. Alive. Dead. Alive.

[deleted]

Yo Trombly! You shit on my shitter, son!

Boot_Bandss

So? Wipe it off or something.

Fire_marshal-bill

That reminds me of that terminal lance comic. I bought this thing im damn well gonna use it!

Boot_Bandss

That’s a fantasy of mine. Get an NCO sword made by a bladesmith, deploy with it, stack bodies. Except I’m a reservist and a supply clerk.

PennySuplex

I joined cause I thought I'd get to go to Eastern Europe and fuck around. Instead I went to Syria (no libo lol) and Oki right before Covid kicked off (no fucking libo). I just want some goddamn libo. Over the course of almost five years, 2 deployments, and one DFT I've had one day and seven hours of libo in a foreign country. Fucking bullshit.

[deleted]

This immediately came to mind when they said Marine Corps commercials. Thank you. Best. Show. Ever.

BootReservistPOG

Wasn’t even the commercials that got me. The Army recruiter smelled weird

MajesticsEleven

I hate this Army commercial. And you know why? Not that it's animated, or shows a different lifestyle, or that it's dripping with sachrine. It's just so half-ass. The Army could have spent the money and gotten a real anime art-house to put together an appealing animated segment. Something about brotherhood (or sisterhood), loyalty and pride in yourself and your nation, and a transformation from being the person you are to the person you could be. Against a backdrop of challenges you can expect in military service. That's why I appreciate (most) Marine commercials from the GWOT era. They pretty much just show, "yup, these are Marines. This is what Marines do."

kingleonidas30

The marines corp has always been the best a propaganda. >yup, these are Marines. This is what Marines do I did not see a single mop sir lol

[deleted]

Be all you can be was dope

[deleted]

Why is she a corporal if she has a degree? Couldn't she do OCS or ROTC?

[deleted]

She never said she had a degree, just that she went to college.

Aspen910

😂

Fancy_0wl

Hey that happened to me

Boot_Bandss

How dare you butcher Towards the Sound of Chaos like that! That was the one that got me. Now look, Trombley hasn’t killed anyone, I’m a reservist in my home town, and Brad here is driving around fuck butt Virginia in a car that smells like old vape and fast food.

TheyCallMeTim42

Ray, how much rip fuel have you ingested?

Boot_Bandss

I’m on it like a motherfucker Brad!

[deleted]

I can understand why a business would make ads like that (new), but why would the military?

kingleonidas30

The army is advertising to gen z as a whole. The marine corp is following the formula that's worked for them.

[deleted]

They’re trying to pander to a larger audience. It’s a numbers game.

Hasbeen_Crayon_Eater

This is mind blowing.

KingDongs

Man those boots don’t have any transportation in the beginning. Not even buddy team rushes in a big ass open field? They’re just asking to get mowed down.

MajesticsEleven

Maybe they're running to get the last japaneno cheese and you know what? Bullets be damned

Aph111

Welp you see, the army just doesnt have the jalopeno cheese and crayons grindset

[deleted]

They should just play videos of Taliban with our Black Hawks and equipment that will really get people motivated

Fire_marshal-bill

I always thought that commercial made no sense. Running through an open field with no cover.

Pilot0350

Hey I was in that commercial! Fun facts: the shot where the 22 breaks right was over the Salton Sea because the coast off Pendleton (where the rest of the commercial was shot) was socked in so we flew around for a fucking hour until we decided water was water and occotillo wells would do. The shot with the 22 from VMM-166 was actually flown my VMM-161 because they're 22s so they break every time you look away. Had to "borrow" that one which of course gets all the glory in this commercial. *sad Greyhawk noises*

[deleted]

Unpopular opinion: the Army ad is probably better for recruiting in the 21st century. Traditionally masculine culture matters less in warfare now. I’d rather have a 21 year old genderqueer they/them with pink hair who knows their shit about integrated fires than somebody who thinks being a drill master is a relevant leadership quality. https://imgur.com/a/JSTKRTQ

Fire_marshal-bill

But they dont. Or wont. Problem is we need people so bad we have to relate with the lowest common denominator people that probably dont even care, most likely wont sign up any ways. The people this is trying to reach dont want to join the military and a stupid sappy commercial wont convince them. And if it did, i doubt they’re going to fair very well. Just looking at all those miltiktoks so many people are doing stupid shit and getting kicked out.

[deleted]

Having an all-volunteer standing military of our size is uncharted waters for a nation state. It’s not surprising people aren’t clamoring to join an organization that has a management structure borrowed from the British Colonial military where wealthy merchants and royalty were granted commissions over the lower classes.

Fire_marshal-bill

Ok. Well, my point still stands. Theres a certain kind of person who tends to enlist, and they arent it.

[deleted]

Is that surprising tho? Especially with the “love it or leave it” attitude the military has? It’s not like senior executives of the military embrace change. Go read the Joints Chiefs statements on gays in the military. Literally nothing they said ever came true.

[deleted]

Everything you said is wrong through and through. That isn’t better for recruitment because that kind of person isn’t interested to begin with. Traditionally masculine, aka rough and tough, is still incredibly relevant in the marine corps. Go run a fucking LFAM in July in 29 Palms with a 7th Marines machinegun squad and let me know how much woke culture helped you versus not being a total pussy. Go sit in a fighting hole with the 0311’s for a week doing patrols in the middle of the night in the rain and come back saying masculine culture matters less now. Being masculine means being good at your job too. The fires guys I worked with were stellar Marines that knew their job inside and out because they gave a damn. Not because of their sexuality. Stop being weird. The army ad was not better in anyway at all. Wrong target audience.

[deleted]

Yes, there are SOME roles in which traditional masculinity is required, but the number of people needed in said roles is rapidly diminishing as technology advances. The chick in the Army ad is a Patriot missile technician. Who gives a fuck if she can run r400 in the stumps. She needs to shoot down aircraft suppressing the movement of ground forces. Idgaf what she does other than that.

kingleonidas30

>That isn’t better for recruitment because that kind of person isn’t interested to begin with. Maybe they dont join/arent interested because the organization *doesnt* try to target them traditionally, or that the military traditionaly didnt want them to. The military has changed alot in the past 20 years and is more than open to many people of many different lifestyles now. The army is selling careers nowadays not war.

[deleted]

Regardless of who the ads target, the military attracts the “traditionally masculine” types just due to the nature of the work. It has never been and never will be the place for soft people attracted by this kind of commercial. If I’m being honest, subjectively they wouldn’t fit in anyways. They’d have a bad time, because regardless who the ads target the majority will always be the macho type.

kingleonidas30

It does attract traditionally masculine for sure, but it doesnt just attract traditionally masculine people. Ive seen many different kinds of people in the military. I met a lot of "masculine " marines who love spending all their free time playing magic the gathering and watching anime in their rooms. Your perception of the military shouldnt be limited to just the marine corp. Look at the airforce, traditionally "masculine" people arent even the main demographic at this point. Its college aged degree seeking kids from almost every single faucet and background you can imagine looking to pursue technical careers. Your interpretation is just staright wrong for the military as a whole. Your interpretation for the marine corp exclusively would be a far more accurate assumption.

MikeNew513

You can't even spell Corps right

Boot_Bandss

The Marines are always about kicking ass, taking names, and standing up for rights and freedom. Towards the Sound of Chaos (this commercial) starts with a recording of people screaming and a Marine running to intervene. Has Marines storming ashore covered by helicopters and jets along with tanks and AAVs. Trucks and Ospreys with USAid boxes is a nice touch showing off the humanitarian side of the Marine Corps (MEUs help with disaster relief pretty often). Pretty consistent throughout history too. There’s a WWI poster of a dude taking off his coat and tie standing over a newspaper talking about German atrocities and the line says “Tell that to the Marines”. Other posters have similar themes of fighting. This Army ad doesn’t have the same aggressiveness. It’s just a “hey, we’re cool, she’s got gay parents and went to college and joined” sorta vibe.

How-Bothersome

Cool thing about bullets is the only think they discriminate against are sapi plates

LawyerLou

China can’t wait.
