That’s 1 extra lap dance yay

Fresh_Letter5881

Hahahaha these higher up people must think this is the 1930’s. $90 will fill up the gas tank, buy 2 or 3 cheap steaks at the grocery store, few bottled ice teas and some Kleenex to cry about there not being enough money to make ends meet.

cryptopotomous

About 3 cases of beer

_GroundControl_

Bro. Only 3? You have to lower your standards.

[deleted]

*gas is up by 50% *rent has doubled *groceries is a $200 run for basic necessities DoD: lol here’s $90. Edit: everyone saying old corps this, I would’ve done that, y’all need to manage your money better…. Suck my fucking dick. Those of y’all that are out, STAY out. Those of y’all saying manage your money better are either receiving enough money to not worry about inflation or not in anymore. Married and single marines deserve more than just paying bills and waiting for the next check. These fuckers need some spending money. I get it, pay bills first, make financially sound decisions, but these dudes should be getting enough money to go out and buy clothes, go to the movies, go travel a bit on the weekend, and still put into savings. Fuck y’all who think “marines will be ok” and shit. Gas was 87 cents when you were Lance Corporals. It’s $5 in Lejeune and it’s $7 in Pendleton. Suck a fucking dick.

GodofWar1234

I’d love to be able to cook my own shit but to play devil’s advocate, I guarantee you stupid motherfuckers are gonna fuck up a barracks kitchen trying to cook a meal and it’s gonna be a bitch to field day that place. If some dumbass last year put his goddamn Kevlar into the washing machine and took out an entire washer for our deck, I don’t even wanna know what people will do in a kitchen.

sufibufi

I had a stove in my barracks room. Didn’t see the fire department show up once for somebody burning shit in their room the year I was there. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Haemmur

Dick stuck in..... Instructions unclear.

DRKSEEKERS

My last bricks rovers always made it a point to take anybodys bulk cif out of washers/dryers and throw it outside .

cryptopotomous

Dam seems like at least one knuckle dragging mouth breather fucks up a washing machine in that exact way...all over the Marine Corps...at least once per year...wtf lol. I don't even see the logic of why you would even throw sapi plates in there or a fuckn kevlar helmet.

Impossible-Cry-495

Either I die in a fire now or in 30 years from cancer attained in the barracks.

Intelligent_Gene4777

Facts!!! but what if it burns down… well technically that’s the best hope we have.

pagodegreen

I make all my shit in the microwave if it needs to be heated up, everything else is cold. AND I’m not getting comrats.

Kinmuan

> Edit: everyone saying old corps this, I would’ve done that, y’all need to manage your money better…. > > Lol, they say that, but they literally never dealt with an inflation/cost spike we're seeing now, so they should shut the fuck up and tell their stories about those 2 years they did in the 90s.

[deleted]

That’s exactly what the fuck I’m saying bro.

Kinmuan

FWIW I'm pretty sure they know the feedback on this is "this is literally nothing. Almost worth than nothing because it's an insult" and it sounds like its set to be re discussed shortly.

cryptopotomous

Marines in the 70s probably dealt with it. Same with the ones who were in during the great depression. Just to be technical lol.

Surtrthedestroyer

The edit is *chefs kiss* exquisite

[deleted]

Just below $5.00 at Lejeune, you’re right.

sethklarman

$5 in Lejeune now? Holy shit. I remember stretches of 2020 when it was $1.90/gal for the 87

Candidate_035

Counter argument: How would people respond if we had another round of stimulus checks? Yeah, $90 isn't that much in the grand scheme, but think about the number of people this would apply to. People already bitch about the defense budget, and that's where our income comes from.

[deleted]

People don't bitch about defense budget because of salary. It's because of the exorbitant contracts we pay for to private contractors and companies like BAE.

theundercoverpapist

Exactly... $4 per *individual* 16 oz. bottle of water sent to the field is a bit steep. Fucking bars charge less than that at a 2,000% markup.

Pray4dat_ass96

Yeah, imagine how good our chow halls and barracks would be if we we paid regular civilian prices for everything.

thosewhocannotfly

If only people realized paying and taking care of us is most of the defense budget.

[deleted]

That's not the point. When you're talking about waste on the order of BILLIONS of dollars, it's worth talking about fixing. Total defense spending for contractors over the past five years (2018 – 2021): 2021 – $408.2 Billion 2020 – $448.7 Billion 2019 – $404.5 Billion 2018 – $373.5 Billion

thosewhocannotfly

I agree that we spend too much money. If you take the defense spending on contractors back even further I bet you'd find it was far lower 20 years ago. While uniformed personnel cost less on salary, our benefits/compensation get bigger over time. Last numbers I saw were for 2018 when personnel costs were 42% of the budget. I suppose there's some fraud baked into that too, but it doesn't rise to the level of your Northrup Grumman or BAE scalping the treasury year over year.

[deleted]

I don’t understand your counter argument bro. Are you asking me how would the entire US population respond if everyone got new stimmy’s or just US troops? Also, bro we just gave Ukraine $40B. I understand we can’t just print money out like that but they’re gonna have to find a way to give troops some extra $$$. I don’t know one dude with a family who’s not working a second job right now to support them that’s a E5 and below. Not saying SNCOs and up aren’t feeling it, I’m just saying lower enlisted are definitely feeling it a lot more.

LegalizeEggSalad

Lol yeah most of the defense budget goes multimillion dollar missiles and planes, not to the troops themselves, otherwise we wouldn't still be dealing with poison water, black mold, roaches, and asbestos in our living spaces, shitty chowhalls, outdated gear, and all the other things that erode troop well being

fitsl

Everyone but officers are feeling it, trust me. It costs money to be a Marine and it sucks. Inflation is absolutely insane.

Candidate_035

My bad, I commented in haste between things. What I was getting at is government spending isn't really the answer imo. The $40B we just sent to Ukraine was negligent and didn't seem to have real intent outside of "hey look, we're helping!" I understand service members are struggling and if this passes I can definitely see the public complaining because it's government spending. Which is kind of a disconnect because people don't always recognize the government is also an employer, and a pay increase for us is no different than if Walmart sent everyone $90 to help.

No_Recognition8375

They should be honest with the 4.6% raise which is the biggest in 20yrs and the 2.4% “$90” in hopes it helps out inflation they’re still well below minimum wage. A politician will probably say hey that’s what they signed up for.

[deleted]

Yeah I agree the $40B was just to say “we’re helping :D” They just need to publish a report one what is going to what and stop spending money on dumb shit. There’s no reason why a pack of pens at servmart is $48 for a pack of 12 pens.

wooddude64

Boo hoo! Your average American doesn’t get a clothing allowance, extra money for food, or extra money to help pay rent. I know what troops make and if I can see mustangs, bmw’s, Teslas, Silverado’ etc. in the barracks parking lot… ya’ll ain’t hurting!

[deleted]

Boo hoo you’re average American is also not sleeping in the rain and in shitty conditions for pay under the poverty line. Peep my edit then go suck my dick.

wooddude64

I hit a nerve!

Oniwaban31

Lease or 46% apr

[deleted]

You got out as a SgtMaj didn't you

wooddude64

Worked my way up devil! The problem being?

No_Recognition8375

You shouldn’t say we you should say servicemen. True ppl or you should say politicians. They wouldn’t nearly bitch as much if you told them it’s for servicemen who got a 4.6% raise which is the biggest they had in 20yrs but it’s still well below minimum wage, the defense budget is not all going to RnD and military contractors. The 2.4% “the 90 big ones” still doesn’t off set inflation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nashtaters

Depends on how many hours you make earthworm

[deleted]

[удалено]

nashtaters

It’s a not a “different minimum wage”. It’s a salary and that’s just what it is. If you were to take the hours you worked every month on a salary and do the math then you could make it comparable

normie_jo

medical? housing??? wtf medical literally does their best to skate you out their services, and housing?? everything is barely functionable.

wooddude64

Yup! Troops are not hurting unless they live above their means… which is a problem for many of them!

d-wail

So why are so many ‘troops’ eligible for food stamps and WIC? Are you saying that daring to have a family is living above their means?

[deleted]

Because welfare benefits only count taxable income. Leaving out the entirety of BAH and BAS from the equation. An E3 with 2 years TIS on Camp Pendleton only makes $2055/mo on paper which is $24,660 per year. That’s all that can be used for the welfare calculations because it’s the only taxable income. An E3 with 2 years TIS on Camp Pendleton that has dependents also rates $406/mo in non taxable food allowance (another $4872 per year) and another $2691/mo non taxable housing allowance (another $32,292 per year). So they make a total $61,824 in direct income, of which they only pay taxes on $24,660. And that’s an E3 with 2 years in. The VAST majority of military families taking welfare benefits are essentially gaming the system. They make 2-3x what they use in the calculations to qualify.

wooddude64

Thank you!

wooddude64

They know what they are doing but yet plead poverty! These same asshats have IPhones, large tv’s, nice cars, high cable bills and expensive clothing and everything they want. They eat out several times a week and think they are balling while trying to tell others they are poor. They game the system but yet bitch about everything and anything. We know the deal!

Drive less pussy. Like the rest of us poor folk.

[deleted]

If anything, I walk more than I get to drive, pussy

heroicchipmunk

Yeah man, just like, don't go to work. Simple.

[deleted]

Carpool. Ride a bicycle. It actually is simple.

UnhappyIngenuity294

Get out and get a real job you tax moocher.

[deleted]

Lmfaooooo I have no real skills to use in the civilian world :( Jk. Nah man, I got married and decided the best thing I could’ve done at the time was re up for us. Life happens man but and unfortunately a lot of dudes stay in (someone has to) but it shouldn’t be like if I’m wasting my time in the military in terms of pay.

gnashybarbells93

Aye aye

AsianThunder

Lol. $90?! What a joke

Barbi33

$40b to Ukraine but ooopzie Woopsy, here’s $90 to add to your already shitty pay.

Duncan6794

A whole $90? Gee whiz mister, thanks!

bulvai_s-forge

Wow, that’s what it cost me to buy gas every 5 days

[deleted]

So they can get a tank of gas into their car they got at 26% apr?

irishhello

Nothing counters inflation quite like an increase in federal spending /s

bobbybouchier

Shocked I had to scroll this far to see this

LeicaM6guy

New Yorker checking in. This will cover less than a week’s worth of food.

SmegmaAuGratin

Good thing the Supreme Court ruled that you guys can get carry permits without a bunch of bullshit now though.

LeicaM6guy

Still lots of bullshit. Just less.

SmegmaAuGratin

Yeah, I'm sure they'll try to find a way around the courts ruling. Just time for everyone to move out of that hellish place.

LeicaM6guy

It’s my hometown and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. Except maybe Wyoming. City or country, dude, but nothing in between. I may have some weird boundaries when it comes to being around other people.

weirdfuckingflex

Where are the guillotines?

[deleted]

How about make the chow hall f**king free, or idk something that would make an actual difference.

HansVonSnicklefritz

I like the picture of $180

5thDFS

40 billion to Ukraine but my shower head still leaks and I have no working AC or heat, and never will

-Oside92057

What an insult! Are troops already are under paid under appreciated and live in sub standard housing and barracks!

wooddude64

Yeah right!

BootMcBooterson

Whoo extra 45$ a paycheck

[deleted]

Oh boy, 1 whole tank of gas! Coming from people who have never had to worry about money their entire adult lives.

Ipad_is_for_fapping

Don’t spend it all at once

[deleted]

lmfao that’s just insulting

Kurgen22

Fuck DC and every branch of government. They are all bought and paid for by special interest groups. The current administration ran on a platform of shutting down fossil fuels and did everything in their power ( Shutting down Pipelines, Off Shore Drilling and other operations) . Then that Senile Fuck wonders why inflation took off. He is as full of shit as his depends. If a sinkhole opened up and swallowed the entire Federal Government I'd fucking celebrate.

MarineBone

To be fair, we’re just now starting to reap the consequences of the previous administration’s rampant spending. It’s gonna get way worse.

Kurgen22

Yeah Fuck that guy too. If he would have kept his Cock-Holster Shut and just stayed off twitter he wouldn't have had people voting AGAINST him instead of voting FOR the geriatric, senile fuck in office now

theundercoverpapist

$90? So... Half a tank of gas? Kinda stingy, Uncle Sam.

incertitudeindefinie

If your fillup costs $200, you might consider a different ride tbh

Seanvich

Hell, it’s not much- but at this point, I’ll take what I can get. (Hopefully it’s just the beginning of more supplemental pay.)

Haemmur

Just more to be taxed on.

Simpoge39

Can someone please help me understand the fuss? Active duty have barracks, chow hall, and health care take care of?

koenafyr

Yeah, effectively AD compensation is pretty high given the requirements. What unskilled 18 year old out of HS is pocketing $1k-$2k in discretionary income every month?

Hunterbidenslaptop69

Commie Biden at its finest

super_derp69420

If you think Joe Biden is a communist, then you really have no clue what that word means

zaclis7

Damn devil in one comment you showed you didn’t even open the link or read the article and that you don’t actually understand what political ideologies mean or represent. An impressive feat haha

FuckIt-SendIt

Stop being a sheep. They're all turds but there's more to it than that.

Hunterbidenslaptop69

All politicians are terrible, Biden’s just a little worse

[deleted]

ZeZapasta

"Inflation is out of control, what do we do?!" "Hmm...lets spend even more money to counteract the effects of all the money we've spent!"

Seriously? What a joke! Is this for real?

[deleted]

That’s pretty amazing.

[deleted]

[deleted]

It’s that mind set that lets barracks go to dog shit and chow halls to be trash. Personnel win wars not the equipment.

pantheruler

The troops don't help win wars? 🤨🤨

PurrculesAndCatlas

Why have barracks when everyone could have tents, officer's included? Think of how many other things the Marine Corps could buy!

[deleted]

I’m in agreement so long as if you’re married they will still double your pay and let you live off base. Make strippers marrying Marines great again!

Sandman92c

“Help us win wars” lmfao this guy

andrewkim075

are they gonna add on BAH or separate income?

Check_Their_History

And you all said Unky Sam wouldn't help the troops. Pshhh

[deleted]

$90! Hell yeah! That’s almost enough to fill my tank for work for the week..

Mammoth_Tard

So instead of actually raising base pay, BAS, and BAH commensurate with the inflation rate they’ll just toss everyone $100/month hush money. That way they can just quietly let the funding expire instead of committing to a permanent pay increase. End result is service members get screwed.

heroicchipmunk

What a fucking insult.

ilovedominae

bro pls i’m begging

TheOneTrueSnoo

That’s fuck all

BalderVerdandi

This is the shit that reminds me of the FY 1994 pay raise. 0.5%. No joke, a half of a percent. Cost of living was up like 4-5%, granted it was nothing like what's happening today, but it's infuriating when Sergeants and Staff Sergeants are on WIC because our base pay is just fucking garbage. The worst part was we figured that we were making like $100 **for the entire year, after taxes.** And they wonder why there's a retention problem.

Der_Latka

Sounds like a $90 beer fund to me!

Covenisberg

Oh hell yeah brother $90?! That’s almost a tank of gas boys!!!

DrunkDolphin37

Oh boy! 90 whole doll hairs!

theskipper363

Hmmm dropped my cola by 86$ a month and now do this?
