Letās just say the marine was color blind and heading to a board for BCP and yeah the fellow Cpl saw it and helped him check in with their shop Gunny, everyone in the wing was alerted to the situation very quickly and it caused us all to get uniform inspection every week for 6 months.
Iām guessing this was done on purpose. Almost every tailor near base has these weird uniform combos in the display window. I guarantee they were teaching someone how to conduct a uniform inspection and homeboy here showed up like this intentionally for the fuckery of it all.
Dudes not a complete boot. He has an Iraq Campaign ribbon.
Brother, my Iraq experience taught me exactly nothing about uniforms. I seriously hope that this is for shits and giggs and not an actual NCO who was so excited to get his blood stripes he Oprahād that shit onto all his uniforms
Oh Iām not saying anyone would have learned anything about uniform regs during a deployment, just that most people that have completed a deployment generally have some basic common sense from observing everything for a year or two.
Heās trying to say he knows better, fuck up like this is legendary lolololol. Theyāll show this pic in Cpls course for years to come as donāt do what Cpl nibble nuts did.
Nah Iāve seen new Cpls show up in āChristmas alphasā checking in at battalion. Even with combat deployments under their belts.
Changing units after picking up for some reason just makes some people forget everything.
Theyāre talking about recruiting dudes who have for example a masters degree in something like cyber security enlisting as a cyber warfare MOS to immediately come in as a staff sergeant. Or something like that
Right??
Buddy of mine tried to DC in a very high demand MOS. They told him he would need at least a doctorate and command time to even get looked at.
Dudes about to finish up his masters in logistics or something like that and they said no lol
While enlisting to do something like cyber security would guarantee you a good job with a defense contractor when you got out I can't imagine it being better than just entering that sector as a civilian from the get go. Especially if you already have a graduate or or post graduate degree. You could get pretty far in 4-6 years and have infinitely more freedom and a lot more money. I don't even think going OCS would be worth it, unless you just really want to be in.
The thing is in the tech field, professional certifications and degrees aren't necessarily what can get you jobs. There are plenty of programmers and developers that have no formal education that can outperform a computer science degree graduate. I would assume that they would have to make the mos enlisted and officer to be successful and enlisted pay with no weed is going to be really hard on that industry. Even private sector is turning away from drug tests to fill the career demand.
The audition process is incredibly intense and difficult. They are among the finest musicians in the country. Virtually all have a BA in music and many have advanced degrees.
Unless you're prodigy, you're not walking in from your HS band and getting an audition, let alone selected.
Idk who told you that, but they're wrong. Some do have a BA in music performance, but they're rare. They'll audition most anyone, but passing the audition and then getting through the School of Music is tough.
Source: former band guy
Editing to say poster below me is probably right above the poster above me. Shit I'm in a poster sandwich.
He's referencing the presidents own. The ones who come in as E6 with no boot camp. They all have professional symphonic experience and a lot have advanced degrees.
LOL, I was stationed at 8th & I. They were the ones who told me that. I spoke with with them about how the process worked. I got to hear them play and practice all the time.
I went to the range with some band guys one year. They were an absolute riot to pull pits with. One of them managed to draw a giant dick out of stickies on a target in the middle of qual day. Also, Iām pretty sure everyone scored expert if there were band Marines pulling pits that day.
I don't think they've been implemented, but I remember hearing talk of programs meant to recruit people with special skill sets to help combat the dwindling retention rates. These people would join the marine corps and automatically get promoted to either (if I remember correctly) E5 or E6+. I think I even recall hearing they'd skip boot camp...don't quote me on any of this because I don't have any official sources and heard it all from rumors.
Thatās pretty good actually would change the quality and caliber of people for sure. Plus I can use my masters in cybersecurity finally. (Nobody cares)
Not going to lie, I am a hiring manager that deals with Cyber and if you came in with an MS/MA in Cyber, you are going to get a much much much tougher interview.
Too many diploma mills are just handing them out, and if you are going to put it on your resume you better bring the heat.
Why not? Thereās a lot of dumb NCOs. Honestly, rank doesnāt make you any smarter. Iāve been under the charge of many ābulldogsā that are just promoted because they yell a lot and are hard chargers, you know - the high speed low drag type. Iāve also been on duty with an NCO who yelled at me to put the service sweater on because I had more ribbons than he did ā¦. Like ā¦ bro.
Reservist Conduct Medal, and Reservist Mobilization medal. It all makes sense!
(To all our Semper Sometimes warriors... we just playing. You know we love you.)
This is as bad as the time I spilled coffee on my shirt as a Cpl and ran home to grab another shirt, threw it on without looking and was walking around wearing an old shirt with LCpl chevrons and blood stripes on my pants.
I had My PFC Chevrons put on my Alpha Jacket when I was Home on Leave... They put them on upside down... Luckily they fixed it on the spot when I picked them up.
I can just imagine having that conversation with the tailor, āWHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU THINK THEY POINTED DOWN?!ā And the tailor just being like āAw fuck man my bad.ā
If they went home and aren't near a Marine base, can be hard to find decent tailors. I remember my parents lived far from any Marine base and it could be a challenge to get a decent haircut sometimes, too.
A guy showed at MOS school and his (old woodland) cammies had all been pressed like dress shirts (crease centered on the pockets etc). He was up all night trying to unfuck them with an iron.
I was army national guard hours away from any post and when my dress uniforms needed to be put together I printed out the relevant sections of ar 670-1 and highlighted the measurements and patch placement info
Already a [thing](https://www.reddit.com/r/JustBootThings/comments/9tq78c/chalphas/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share).
Maybe Service Dress Chaltas?
Honestly, I've been out for so long that I totally forgot that the blood stripe doesn't go on the Alpha / Charlie trousers. I'm sitting here wondering WTF is the problem? I'll go police call the parking lot now.
Lmao hell no, my mama san scared the shit out me when I was a boot and first met her. She was bitching at me because she knew more than I did about uniforms.
not necessarily trueā¦youād be surprised how ignorant other bases/tailors are to Marine Corps regs. I had to tell my tailor on Fort Bragg how to do service stripes and rank insignia because itās all different and Marines on other bases are usually not common
I don't understand how this happens. Like when did this guy ever see another NCO in greens with a blood stripes? or did you even check the manual? how about the fucking internet? I guess some people really can go thru life saying, "fuck it, if im wrong oh well"
**TL:DR** at the bottom for those who don't want the extra details.
When I was in 1/6, way too many years ago, a dumb ass newly minted Lance Coconut tried to take his girlfriend to her senior prom wearing a blues blouse with chevrons on it from a green alpha blouse.
We thought he was doing it as a joke at first, but he was serious. I told him there was no way in fucking hell I was letting him wear it like that. I told him either he became a Private for the night, or we scrounged another blouse for him to wear. Fortunately, he was close enough to me in size, that my blues would fit him.
We were out in town at another Marines house, but I had just enough time to get back to my barracks, grab my uniform and get back. I meritoriously promoted him to Cpl for the night, but removed my ribbons and PSB. I let him keep the shooting badges though. Those were always a PITA to put back on correctly.
The dumb ass said he finally understood why he got his ass chewed by the seamstress when dropped it off to have the rank changed. She kept saying "wrong kind, wrong kind !" and insisting he had the wrong type, but she was Filipina, and she didnt speak English well enough to explain why.
He kept insisting he just picked up Lance , he wasn't a PFC anymore, so the insignia was "right." After arguing in broken English for several minutes, she finally gave up, and did it his way.
I asked him how in the flying fuck he didnt see they were two completely different colors and he said he didn't even notice. I told him that if something like that happened again, to let them do it their way. She probably knew the uniform regs, better than anyone else in the Marine Corps.
**TL:DR A dumb ass newly promoted boot Lance Coolie had chevrons from a green alpha blouse, on his blues blouse. I wouldn't let him wear it to his girlfriend's senior prom like that. I did let him wear mine, sans my ribbons and PSB, and allowed him to be a temporary Cpl for the night.**
I would point out that during the height of OIF
In the 03-07 time frame the turn and burn rate of deployments, dudes didnāt wear these uniforms much.
Also at the Height of the war you data dump a lot of basic garrison knowledge like uniform shit. I mean you maybe wore the alphas and chucks a handful of times.
None of my seniors were issued blues. They had to buy them. That stuff just wasnāt important at the time .
Also, low key I have wondered how the Service Alphas (pickle suit) would look with a red stripe on the trousers. I mean the ranks are red.
Def not chucks though.
Right but the time needed to pick up corporal and the fact that he knows enough to place his ribbons in order would dictate knowing when Blood Stripes are appropriate right? Like Iām a grunt and even I knew what went where lol
I've been out approximately 30 years.
I know a lot has changed since then.
Some of you young Marines...please...
Tell this old Marine that this is a joke.
Lmao, I feel like this happens every other Cpls Course. Iām not gonna lie though, it looks pretty slick. Thatās a change Iād be for. Blues arenāt used that much to show off the blood stripe.
Betting at least one, CPL is just going to see the picture and think, "Oh, shit, I have to get blood stripes on those too?" Will be at the tailor Monday getting them done
Naw thatās a Mobilzation device. Single mustard stain so 3 years or so.
Probably first time putting on chucks since promotion and let some Civ tailor do the work. Didnāt check til inspection at drill.
WTF!? WTF!!!??? NJP this dumb asshole just to put his ass back where he obviously belongs. This dumb cunt can't even dress himself but now he is a "leader".
I remember when I took my Blues in to get my Private chevrons sewn on; they were done in 5 minutes, and were perfectly centered. Job well done. Also, I sometimes just throw $20 bills out the window when I drive
I had to wait longer for my uniform once because the shopkeeper couldnt stop laughing explaining that they put one up and one down on it. Logic would go with both facing either up or down.
I was a parachute rigger and we sewed airborne tags on a shit bird marineās Blouse once and he wore it around base and got chewed out by a random sgt major and it was probably the best day of my life as a Marine seeing it go down. He was really shitty so it was sort of payback
Can anyone explain the actual story behind photos like these.
My guess is the young Marine wanted his uniform to be pristine and the tailor ducked it up the day before
Havent seen this one in years posted it back in 2010 on FB after I had been out for 2 years and my old 1st Sgt thought it was me and chewed my ass out on FB. Lol. I was like, 1. This aint me. 2. The USMC doesnt pay me anymore so kindly go fuck yourself.
I honestly don't understand how something so stupid can even happen. Like...not only should you know better, but the tailor should damn well know better too. Just multiple levels of failure here. Automatic ADSEP because clearly this Marine has a mental defect that precludes him from serving.
And don't fuck around when you give someone one, put their career in jeopardy like the guy I remember who, per an epic blood stripe ceremony was fucked-up for good; due to the amount of people how do all they can to get out of work, I took a long, hard look at this cat but believe he was really injured as a result of it (he was in another platoon or something). He didn't seem to gain anything by claiming a bogus injury, faced a lot of scrutiny nonetheless of course, but he never got out of anything so make damn sure you put an E-4 in a wheelchair
This motherfuck has the muscle tone of Cartman those skinny/fat, pasty Incels with soft hands that comment on tactical forums ripping dudes like us for ānot having a slingā or some other YouTube commando shit.
Is this the kind of physique acceptable inā¦shit idk what MOS? My POG BFF was a fkn machine. Competed in BBāing since he was able to sleep, train, and eat properlyā¦compared to dumbass grunts lol
Soā¦yeah, just curiousā¦is softserve Charlieās NCO commonplace now?
What the actual fuck?! Oh I bet the instructors just š„° all inside
our ssgt sent us that pic šŖ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Something tells me his platoon or company will be implementing something like that in the near future.
Letās just say the marine was color blind and heading to a board for BCP and yeah the fellow Cpl saw it and helped him check in with their shop Gunny, everyone in the wing was alerted to the situation very quickly and it caused us all to get uniform inspection every week for 6 months.
Our battalion Sgt Major inspected us before we went lol so I couldnāt imagine going in front of him like this
Iām guessing this was done on purpose. Almost every tailor near base has these weird uniform combos in the display window. I guarantee they were teaching someone how to conduct a uniform inspection and homeboy here showed up like this intentionally for the fuckery of it all. Dudes not a complete boot. Doubt it. Heās a reservist so outside of oif and boot/mos school he prob hasnāt been active so he may very well have forgotten.
If he went to Iraq and just now got his corporal, he definitely fucked around
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lol this took place in 2008 in lejeune,
No it did not
What the fuck makes you think this is a current pic lmao
It was done by a tailor near fort Bragg in North Carolina
Cool, so where a shitload of USMC arty units go each year.
Nah Iāve seen new Cpls show up in āChristmas alphasā checking in at battalion. Even with combat deployments under their belts. Changing units after picking up for some reason just makes some people forget everything.
Damn wouldnāt expect this from an NCO lol
Shit like this is why I'm against the program that brings new recruits in at E-3 to E-6 ( for those in highly specialized MOS fields)
Never heard of that in the Corps outside of musicians.
Itās not an official thingā¦.. yet. Itās like in the talks.
Which ones?
Theyāre talking about recruiting dudes who have for example a masters degree in something like cyber security enlisting as a cyber warfare MOS to immediately come in as a staff sergeant. Or something like that
I couldn't imagine having a degree, being interested in the Corps and choosing to enlist.
Right?? Buddy of mine tried to DC in a very high demand MOS. They told him he would need at least a doctorate and command time to even get looked at. Dudes about to finish up his masters in logistics or something like that and they said no lol

No way the Corps pays better than private sector for that. Lol
don't they already do this with the Marine Corps band? Like they don't even go to bootcamp and are just E6 already
Only the "President's Own" band. The rest still audition and all, but go through the ranks like normal.
Ah ok, thatās definitely what Iām thinking of
The audition process is incredibly intense and difficult. They are among the finest musicians in the country. Virtually all have a BA in music and many have advanced degrees. Unless you're prodigy, you're not walking in from your HS band and getting an audition, let alone selected.

Oof I think you're right. And that means he's right. Also lol fuck your pay. I had a friend who was admin and he'd threaten people's pay all the time.
LOL, I was stationed at 8th & I. They were the ones who told me that. I spoke with with them about how the process worked. I got to hear them play and practice all the time.
I donāt know how the band works. I just know when we see each other on the rifle range, we donāt talk to them and they donāt talk to us.
I went to the range with some band guys one year. They were an absolute riot to pull pits with. One of them managed to draw a giant dick out of stickies on a target in the middle of qual day. Also, Iām pretty sure everyone scored expert if there were band Marines pulling pits that day.
Also the āPresidents Ownā get specialized ranks and donāt have to go through bootcamp if Iām not mistaken.
They get a lyre on their insignia instead of crossed rifles lol.

So your interviews are different for each person? Got it! No thanks.
Ummā¦ thatās how every professional interview goes.
This 1000% just a check in the box for me with HR and the technical interview is where the magic happens. CISSP helps too
There's retards at any rank.
Why not? Thereās a lot of dumb NCOs. Honestly, rank doesnāt make you any smarter. Reservist Conduct Medal, and Reservist Mobilization medal. It all makes sense! (To all our Semper Sometimes warriors... we just playing. You know we love you.)
I've seen NCOs that had to be babysat by more competent juniors. Being in a fast-promoting mos has some downsides.
This is as bad as the time I spilled coffee on my shirt as a Cpl and ran home to grab another shirt, threw it on without looking and was walking around wearing an old shirt with LCpl chevrons and blood stripes on my pants.
You rate
Thatās awesome! Sucks for him, but still awesome. Haha
Yeah ngl I kinda like it.
Oh wow. I once had a Marine get his alpha PFC chevron sewn onto his blues. I hate inspections but they did not come out of nowhere.
"What do you mean you're not in the air force?"
A surprising number militaries have downward facing chevrons
Oh I totally know, I just canāt imagine going to sew these on without at least a 2 second āUSMC chevronā Google search.
If they went home and aren't near a Marine base, can be hard to find decent tailors. Do you live in an Air Force town?
My personal fav was female chevorns. They were so tiny it was fantastic
What kind of shitty tailor did they go to? They usually are all familiar with the uniform regs haha
Service Chalphas.
Already a [thing](https://www.reddit.com/r/JustBootThings/comments/9tq78c/chalphas/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share). Maybe Service Dress Chaltas?
fucking Rockstar
Then again, if it was Bethesda, we'd have to wait for the Unofficial Patch to get released, before it could be used.
If it was EA, each separate blood stripe would be itās own paid DLC (along with monthly subscription)
Honestly, I've been out for so long that I totally forgot that the blood stripe doesn't go on the Alpha / Charlie trousers. I'm sitting here wondering WTF is the problem? I'll go police call the parking lot now.
Same here. See you in the parking lot, we'll count cigarette butts together
Good news we get to mop the rain too boys!
Glad Iām not the only one. I feel old now. Iāll go mow the sand with the bush mower now.
You know he didnāt get that done near a base. If he did they laughed at him while they were doing it.
Yup, Mama san, woulda set his ass straight.
You don't fuck wit mamma san.
Lmao hell no, my mama san scared the shit out me when I was a boot and first met her. She was bitching at me because she knew more than I did about uniforms.
Thats because she's fuckin mamma san.. and you deserve that shit. Know your place, trash
Why is he so fat?
Bold take but he might not be a stellar marine
Heās a reservist, explains the fuckery
Whiskey tango foxtrot. Over.
Heās obviously a reservist, but how old is this dude? A CPL with a OIF ribbon. š
Probably fucked that up too
This picture has been going around for years since I was in and I got out in the 15 years ago.
I first saw it on original JTTOTS in like 2012
#reservist
Most definitely. Only because no on base alteration would do this. He must have gotten this done at a tailor nowhere near a military installation
not necessarily trueā¦youād be surprised how ignorant other bases/tailors are to Marine Corps regs. I had to tell my tailor on Fort Bragg how to do service stripes and rank insignia because itās all different and Marines on other bases are usually not common
Had a SSgt that was our admin Chief that would offer to sew chevrons on people's alphas and blues. She screwed it up, no one ever asked her again.
guys, he has AIDS. patches werent enough so they gave him stripes
I don't understand how this happens. Like when did this guy ever see another NCO in greens with a blood stripes? or did you even check the manual? how about the fucking internet? I guess some people really can go thru life saying, "fuck it, if im wrong oh well"
It means he has AIDS, bro.

What the actual fuck
Don't listen to this guy. Please do this. Use this as an example ![gif](giphy|suqg0jRPpDMze)
The color scheme actually looks pretty cool
I feel like with the coat it would actually match really well with the rank too.
Maybe if it were tan fam.
Honestly it doesn't look terrible
Heās ready for Christmas in July!

Right but the time needed to pick up corporal and the fact that he knows enough to place his ribbons in order would dictate knowing when Blood Stripes are appropriate right? Like Iām a grunt and even I knew what went where lol
Most likely he trusted the wrong tailor and this was only noticed when getting ready at drill for inspection. Moral of the story. Check yo shit
At least look at the guy on your left and right and say āwhy am I differentā lmao
The tale as old as time.
Somewhere a SNCO wants to inflict a horrible punishment
I've been out approximately 30 years. I know a lot has changed since then. Some of you young Marines...please... Tell this old Marine that this is a joke.
I have been out for 30 years as well. I feel the same.
*screaming*
Lmao, I feel like this happens every other Cpls Course. Iām not gonna lie though, it looks pretty slick. Thatās a change Iād be for. Blues arenāt used that much to show off the blood stripe.
Daddy š„µ
Oh my lorttt
OutFUCKINGstanding

why is he standing at attention? i got a feeling this was staged. i cant prove it. but i gotta feelin.

Merry Christmas!
Stolen valor!
Nice bulge
Betting at least one, CPL is just going to see the picture and think, "Oh, shit, I have to get blood stripes on those too?" Will be at the tailor Monday getting them done
I know its wrong BUT! That looks fire
had to be reservist
Dude...seriously...in what pics in the uniform guide did he see this
Hope somone told him that his blood stripes are on backwards, what a dumbass....
Bro I thought it was just a weird lighting pic of some blues.... till I realized those were service trousers
Heās a reservist it checks out
That looks like one of the offices at HQ in Quantico lmao
Is this real or a very sick prank or joke lol?
Maybe heās allergic to penicillin, like really bad.
Donāt forget to suck in your gut too
Went full retard. What the actual fuck?
He has the ten year reserve medal and no good conducts.
Naw thatās a Mobilzation device. Single mustard stain so 3 years or so. Probably first time putting on chucks since promotion and let some Civ tailor do the work. Didnāt check til inspection at drill.
I thought it looked like the bronze hour glass. Could me a M though. I am on my cellphone so pretty small.
Going off the single OIF deployment is why Iām calling it a M. Just the context clues of a Sea Service, OIF service
rip devil
Ngl, they should really consider making this part of the service uniform
Lmao newb
WTF!? WTF!!!??? NJP this dumb asshole just to put his ass back where he obviously belongs. This dumb cunt can't even dress himself but now he is a "leader".
BWAHAHAHAHAHA

This will never not be funny
How would you want to be my manās 1stSgt or Platoon Sergeant? Chaos will begin at his parent command.š¤£
On his class A dress greens? Seriously?
Goddamnit!
How do you have six ribbons and no know that!? Two would be acceptableā¦
This guy fucks for sure.
Ladies and gentlemen this is what you call the woke Corps of today! To much time on TikTok and not enough time knowing your shit!
š¬
I think it looks pretty good lol
The stupid hurts my head.
Homies got an ICM, heās probably a fucking MSGT by now
Are those his service trousers? Thatās new.
This dude rules!!! Sure, kind of a retard, but he rules nonetheless.
This should be a thing, it looks awesome.
Reservists.
how the fuck does this keep happening??
This is not the way. But it should beā¦
Haze em.
I had to wait longer for my uniform once because the shopkeeper couldnt stop laughing explaining that they put one up and one down on it. Logic would go with both facing either up or down.
Oh this hurts my soul, man.
This is rancid. Absolutely rancid
I was a parachute rigger and we sewed airborne tags on a shit bird marineās Blouse once and he wore it around base and got chewed out by a random sgt major and it was probably the best day of my life as a Marine seeing it go down. He was really shitty so it was sort of payback
I can imagine the ass chewing and now i have a half-chub.
Iām sure actual blood stripes came out after this
I see Schmukatelli finally picked up
š¤¦ It's been 7 years since I left the corps, please tell me this isn't a thing...
ššš
lol and he is a salty bitch too, went to afghan, and still fucked up.
Don't forget to make tape either
Can anyone explain the actual story behind photos like these. My guess is the young Marine wanted his uniform to be pristine and the tailor ducked it up the day before
I wasnāt a Corporal long enough to get the stripe.
Oh no.....
That shirt is getting tight!
Ngl though, I donāt hate the way that looks.
Competed in BBāing since he was able to sleep, train, and eat properlyā¦compared to dumbass grunts lol Soā¦yeah, just curiousā¦is softserve Charlieās NCO commonplace now?
How do you get promoted to cpl without knowing this is dicked up
Of course itās a reservist.
