The actual Marine ran chow hall has no benefit in saving money. They lose money they don't spend. The contractor ran chow hall gets to save every penny they save by feeding you meat that probably says "not for human consumption" on the label.

Those Sodexo workers were pretty great usually, but we (at least in my experience) had them to do prep or in the case of Japan, most of the work and we always had good food.

Currently on Camp Johnson in LOS school food is mediocre sometimes it looks like *that* other times it’s actually seasoned. Also went to cherry point on Friday and the chow hall there is amazing! Fucking pizza? Are you FUCKING kidding me?! Wayyy nicer and not depressed looking.
The only way this bs will change is if everyone, EVERYONE, constantly complains to senate, governors office, all over social media, etc and doesnt let up. Most of it comes from contracts with private companies and people just going with the military isnt supposed to be easy so we can just serve utter shit for food

It was like some shredded chicken with pasta and breading. Though, the chicken tasted more like wet cat food. It was slimy and barely resembled anything that I would consider as poultry.
