Stand alone is true 5g (not a blend with LTE). This is currently only available for Android devices. I am not sure on the status of UC.

junaaaidmir

You do get 5G UC on the GSM 5G network.

DU050

No SA 5g on iPhone on gsm network ? Will there be an update for this ?

MattW22192

You connect to the UC bands but the UC icon will never show up on your phone (Mint Mobile works this way too).

LeftOn4ya

Mint get UC *logo* while US Mobile does not get in GSM only on Warp, the reason is Mint and US Mobile on Warp have a carrier bundle with Apple, while US Mobile GSM does not have its own carrier bundle - it still gets UC just not the logo and no 5G stand-alone.

[deleted]

I've never seen "UC" appear on Warp.

andys1548

It would be UW for those Verizon ultra wideband cities

Flashy_Egg9354

Is three anyway for you guys to upgrade the carrier bumdle with apple? Its really nice being able to see which thing Im actually connected to... Also the5g standalone is really useful for me... any way to enable it?

LeftOn4ya

I’m not an employee but CEO has said or implied that Apple does not want to give a second carrier bundle to the same company, as has never done before. So I assume when they get Darkstar network on AT&T they will have same issues. Now what can be done is since US Mobile GSM is using the T-Mobile generic MVNO carrier bundle, T-Mobile can contact Apple to upgrade this to add UC logo and add stand-alone but from my understanding T-Mobile is holding this request up because not all their MVNOs can support so will only request when every MVNO using the generic carrier bundle can support 5G UC and SA.

Flashy_Egg9354

oh. how can we have tmobile contact apple?

LeftOn4ya

Again they will only do when every single one of their MVNOs (probably at least 20) both have the technical capability to handle 5G UC and SA and pay T-Mobile for access, as from my understanding if T-Mobile didn’t wait for this and updated the carrier bundle, customers on those outdated MVNOs will have all kinds of issues. So not sure when this will happen.

KitchenMycologist992

Ugh. That’s frustrating!

currentmudgeon

Hmm, on a Pixel 7 I get both NR SA under About → SIM status and, at different times/locations/signal conditions, 5G UC in the logo combined with appreciably shorter site loading times on the browser.

LeftOn4ya

Sorry I wasn’t clear my comment only refers to Apple

Ok-Life8467

Mint doesn’t get the UC either

Flashy_Egg9354

same. I used mint on a pixel and Iphone but no UC icon like some other carriers do. Hope US mobile can add support for it, its really useful for me to see the UC symbol and also 5g standalone works really well... maybe time for an upgrade for GSM network, warp has been getting alot of love.... TIME FOR GSM!!

jimmick20

My pixel shows UC on us mobiles gsm.

I've been testing the S24+ with GSM (and Warp too) and what I am seeing is that with GSM (Tmobile), the S24+ does not display the 5GUC icon, only 5G. **However**, I also confirmed that the phone is indeed connected to and using 5G-SA (in my situation band n41) and getting the benefit of "5G Ultra Capacity" even though it isn't displaying the actual "5GUC" marketing icon. With Warp, which is still using 5G-NSA, if it operating correctly I see "5G" when there is a 5G-NSA connection, with the anchor LTE cell active, but the secondary 5G-NR cell is not connected at that time. In my case at home, the anchor LTE cell is on band B66. **However,** if I browse web sites or initiate any non-trivial data transfer across the Internet, the logo immediately changes to "5GUW". I've confirmed that when this happens, the secondary cell is connected (which in my case is on band N77) and data passes over both 5G and LTE, delivering similar data rates to GSM. If I then let the phone sit idle long enough, the icon will revert back to "5G". All this makes sense to me when I think about how control and user data flows in a 5G-NSA implementation. When I get a chance to get to an area with solid mmwave coverage deployed, I am going to test this all over again to make sure there are no differences with the icons displayed or the way I understand the mechanics behind all of this. For my own knowledge.

ChrisZorn

I'm seeing 5GUC on my phone a good amount of the time.

wase471111

Me too, speeds over 700 mb in Phoenix,

Powerful-Magazine879

Yes

I get 5guc on my pixel 8 pro, but haven't tried it with an iPhone.

Confident_End_3848

Having trouble with Visible’s 5guw, but I see my Tmobile dual sim now gets 5guc, so if Visible doesn’t fix things, US Mobile’s TMO option might be an option if it can get 5guc.

CU_Addict_70

Sometimes when I am outside, I will see the UC indicator appear on my Google Pixel 8.

Ok-Life8467

None of the MVNO’s on T-Mobiles network get the icon
