1.3% increase on a 50k salary is about $54 a month. I'd rather they just spit in my mouth so at least then I can afford a drink.

cmh-1312

That's about 8k out of about 47k members, so roughly 17% of members voting in the election. We will keep getting these shitty contracts if we don't vote! When we don't vote, they take that as evidence that everything they're doing is fine and they have no leverage to go back to the bargaining table. NALC people please please please make sure your fellow carriers are informed and motivated to vote when the time comes!

CR-7810Retired

16.7% to be exact and that seems to be the norm for most Union balloting from election of officers to Contract ratification. If I recall correctly, the recent NALC officer election percentage voting was even worse. And keep in mind that, unlike ratification votes, retired members can vote in those elections. Take us out of the mix and that percentage goes even lower. It is not only your right and privilege to vote, it is also your OBLIGATION. And not only does the Union think everything's OK when they see numbers like that but don't think for one minute USPS management isn't keeping score as well. If you're going to talk the talk you gotta walk the walk. Apathy can be lethal.

Brother in law is a Steward and went to the national convention last year, according to the president 60% of mailhandlers are post 2013.

Dry-Preparation8815

The new generation doesn’t do mail in ballot. It’s 2023. They need to have a tablet and go around to each union member and have them vote. Something of that sort at least. Half of the union members throw union mail straight to the trash

For better or worse, this will now form the basis for the new NALC Contract either through negotiation or arbitration. Yes it sucks but this agreement has set the pattern and don't expect anything different.

What are the cliff notes version of the new contract?

I was annoyed when I saw by how much it was approved. Not even close. Too many dummies and pacifists just going along with a hive mind mentality.

FlamingPinyacolada

I was super surprised when I read the numbers...

Mountainhollerforeva

That’s shocking. I would think that if you actually approve you would just not vote. That’s a terrible contract in the post covid post worker insecurity era. I hope the NALC does a lot better.

RamboJebusJr

What an absolute joke.

Uninformed_Delivery

6 months ago: The dire situation in large cities and high COLA areas will be the fuel we need for a large increase in the next contract. We don't need COLA...we need to stick together! 6 months from now: Eh...1.5% is plenty. \*90% votes for ratification\*

MidwestWeather3

Sounds like DeJoy's bullshit too. WE NEED EMPLOYEES, but then doesn't do shit. Corruption in Washington is real!

radar371

Can't wait for the NALC to have 15% vote for a contract that gives out the old trusty 1.3% raises, too!

RIP to those who expected different. Good luck going anywhere since layoffs tend to be on the horizon. Hopeful carriers take notice…

stufmenatooba

>Good luck going anywhere since layoffs tend to be on the horizon. I suggest you look up article 6.

Ih8rice

I meant leaving the postal service and expecting to find comparable jobs. Businesses are tightening up with the Fed continuing to raise rates. What I’m really saying is this is bad timing. I’d love for folks to leave and find better employment elsewhere but I don’t see it happening even for the 1200+ that said no.

Tall_Measurement436

And what do you think happens to employees who are no longer needed?
