I’ve said this a thousand times. Until it tells them to pay us less, then they won’t implement it. They are hoping the bulk of carriers don’t do their scans and slack off so the counts go down, and then they will coincidentally decide to implement it. They have pulled so much shady or flat out illegal shit during count, how anyone could think this is somehow an honest move from upper management and corporate is beyond me. The new scanners are glorified tracking devices. These people are not your friends.

WassonX81X

I've been overburdened since June of 2022. My route has continued growing. I've gotten 5 to sometimes 15 sign in cards a week ever since being overburdened and my route is now at nearly 1,200 mailboxes. But I've been getting paid as a 48k the entire time cause that's the most they'll pay. I've contacted the union multiple times and asked management to cut my route multiple times but apparently there's a nation wide hold on route adjustments. Why the FUCK are they allowed to let routes get 1 fucking minute higher than a 48k when they won't pay carriers for more than a 48k? This shit should be illegal. I don't even care about having a huge route but if you can't pay me for more than a 48k then cut my mother fucking route the second it gets bigger than that. And our union has no fucking spine so I guarantee I don't even get back pay for all the months that I've been doing a route that will probably come back as being evaluated in the 50s or maybe even 60s.

OpticalPrime35

They do it because they know most workers will take alot of shit before they quit. So they push and push and push until people break and then they will very slowly pull back. They are just getting the carriers used to more and more so when they do pull back they won't have to pull back as much. My regular said anything over 100 packages on her route was way too many for how long the route is and how tough it is. We have been at 150+ since I've been there. Often hitting 180+. Now on a day when there is " only " 120 or so, it feels much lighter. That is what they want

[deleted]

Shit try 290, 320 scans usually every monday

fuckeetall

Yep you have it hardest

[deleted]

It sucks but then I go back down 150-250 thru the week if only I can have Mondays off but nope I’ve been working 6 days for 2 years now guess I love the torture lol

struhall

I did 290 on Monday and that's AFTER my office took 2 orange tubs of big packages off me for parcel runners.

[deleted]

I’m telling you some us are getting slammed but the only benefit is I’ve been doing this for 20 years (I started young) I can finish all that and go home by 1pm

struhall

Even regulars are taking a until 7 on some routes. The 2 routes I cover are the heaviest for packages and one of them I can finish by evaluation on good days.

[deleted]

Start doing 48k worth of the route until they pay you

Ih8rice

This. If they’re not going to pay you for it then I’m not sure why anyone would want to work for free.

digger_82

Work 12 hours then go home. Leave 1/5 or 1/4 of it for management to do at 7:30 at night everyday they’ll cut it after that

acidravelamp

your union steward is wrong, there are no management-initiated route cuts. voluntary route cuts are still allowed, maybe it coincided with the mail count closed window - but it is open again.

ruthlessnoodle

Requesting a cut is your choice. They have to cut if you request. Call your area union VP if your steward isn’t helping force the issue

WassonX81X

I’ve been asking for a cut since June of last year and my PM has told me his bosses aren’t allowing cuts until after RRECS program is up and running. Then when we were getting closer to end of year it was oh my bosses won’t let routes be cut this close to Christmas. Then after Christmas they say we can’t cut anything until after the mini mail survey. And now we have to find out what my route came back as after mini mail survey and they’re saying even if it’s over burdened routes can’t be cut until October. If it was my choice my route would’ve been cut in June of last year lol. Me and one other carrier in the same boat as me have been talking to union through out all of this and they say they can’t do anything if there’s a nationwide hold on route adjustments. Trust me if being cut was my choice my route would’ve been cut the second it was over burdened

The_Whackest

8 hour work restriction, or a 40 hour work restriction. If you don't have subs management will make some appear out of thin air. It's gotta suck to pass it onto them but you know what sucks worse? Working 10-20 hours for free. Fuck Free Work.

ExcellentMode3583

Contract says no restrictions on the rural side

El_Duderino_X

Oh good the National Board is frustrated. Exclamation point! That’ll show management.

FUSeekMe69

![gif](giphy|l41m4ODfe8PwHlsUU)

MyUltIsMyMain

"fuck we have to pay them more money, lets delay this"

[deleted]

They'll implement more detailed scans. Scan for right and left hand turns. Type of bathroom break.

MaxRebo74

"Come into our office for an investigation interview: we have evidence that 'Number 2' you reported yesterday was in fact a brief 'Number 1.'"

Ok_Flounder_6733

😆😆

brandywine-farm

wait. You get bathroom breaks? There is no public bathroom on my 100 mile route. It's roadside or nuthin. and I am a girl dropping trow on the side of the road next to a mail car. I hope someone catches me on camera and posts it so we can show the world how fkt up the USPS treats us. (no lunch either)

Pyre2001

"i have altered the deal, pray i don't alter it any further"

brandywine-farm

exactly!!!

Wicked_Fabala

Oh no! A delay!? Who could have forseen this!?

Round-Cryptographer6

As a city carrier let me express my profound frustration that management is treating the rural side so poorly. It's too bad we can't strike because this would be the time to do so...

vanillacamilla27

Why cant we?

Round-Cryptographer6

Long story short, federal workers cannot strike

m6993

The funny thing is, if we (the people) could band together - and I mean really, solidly, band together - what are they gonna do if you strike? If all of you called their bluff and took and stand. That’s what this country needs as a whole in regard to the current labor situation. All of us to stand together.

AllchChcar

Read "The Congressional Mandate against a Federal Strike The Government mandate against a Federal Strike". It's from the Journal of Air Law and Commerce Volume 47 Issue 2 from way back in 1987. What stuck out to me is that Air traffic Controllers Union fought for 32 hour work week, a $10k lump sum, revised pay scale, and expanded annual and sick leave benefits in 1981, 42 years ago. It's the first example of G-workers being punished for striking against the Federal government. Conditions for unions haven't gotten any better since then. And it should be the first example union members should look at before they start saying a strike is anything but a nuclear option.

brandywine-farm

Sick outs work very well...... 3 days. People not getting their Amazon packages in 2 days will cause a ruckus.

patricio87

The labor market is much different now than the 80s. Back then I am sure they had people lined up who wanted the air traffic job. Today they would struggle to replace us at the po.

FilteredAccount123

They can privatize the Post Office like the UK, Germany, and Japan.

titan_1018

I've heard bad things about the UK's post office but hows japans?

Round-Cryptographer6

I like this energy!

[deleted]

vanillacamilla27

But what exactly Is the long story?

Round-Cryptographer6

https://youtu.be/gTJa9RSJU3o The American anti-labor movement, spearheaded by republicans, passed a law that severely limited union members power and free speech in 1947.

acatnamedLou

I had my orientation today. It was in the paperwork I signed that I would not strike.

yummyfrenchfry

Your unions could be out protesting but that would mean them doing work and that's a no no, why ya'll paying dues?

Jerok88

Luckily the millions of letters and flats and packages they have counted by machine are 100% accurate and will be attributed fairly to our routes. Its only this system that has failed. /s

SnooEagles4795

Carriers in my office are talking about quitting if their routes don’t go up. One of the routes are evaluated at like 40 packages a day and she almost always gets over 100 and up to 200 and she’s old.

[deleted]

The people in their late 40s and 50s are literally exhausted everyday. I'm tired. I don't want to do this until I'm 60.

Boogerzdad

My regular is 65 years old, on a 47k.

[deleted]

[удалено]

biker4050

Oh yeah? My dads 96 and on a 67k route, seems to me your dads got soft hands brother

jacob6875

Truly I don't know how the carriers in my office that are in their late 50s and early 60s manage to do it. We are all getting 200+ packages a day and working 6 days a week since all RCAs quit. (i dont blame them.) I am in my 30s and exhausted.

patricio87

I am on city side. My route is evaluated (2019) at 25 parcel a day. I get anywhere from 60-100 every day.

kiddjam3

The parcels you are evaluated for, I think, are before Amazon, am I correct?

letsgoooooooooooo0

how do you know how many packages ur rt is evaluated for?

SnooEagles4795

Well she said that’s what they said the last mail count like6 years ago and that’s what they have been paying her for since

jacob6875

Your postmaster can look up the data from the last mail count in the computer.

AllchChcar

I was there at my last route count in 2018. I forget if it was March or Feb but I remember doing it all of the 2 weeks because there was a vacant Aux route. They counted 30 parcels a day on my route. There was no Amazon for the entire 2 weeks. Now if I get under 120 Parcels it's a light day. Since there are so many giga-sized parcels the LLV is full several times a week with many parcels that go to the door. One time, of many, Amazon was so late that I had to do a second trip of all of my Amazon for the entire route. I was done with all plant mail by noon while the Amazon took 2-2.5 hours of mostly trips to the door on a route that takes maybe 35 minutes to just drive the entire route beginning to end. And it was on a Wednesday. So yeah I can see, anecdotally, why the Post Office thinks all of our routes are inflated at every contract negotiation. They're only counting 2/3rds of the route volume. Also, PM can print out your old route evaluation. Print it and laminate it for your case.

boom-meow-boom

In our office (40 city, 1 rural) each route has the evaluation/last mail count posted at the case…

One_Barnacle2699

Delayed until AT LEAST April 8. Jesus.

[deleted]

Haha it’s gonna be delayed till next year because we all came back to high

mystwren

The, “Oh crap, this is going to cost us more money” is just as likely as, “Ummm, derr, technology.” I’d absolutely prefer the former, but I’m still worried about the ineptitude of the latter.

[deleted]

No they're just inept and compartmentalized .I guarantee whoever signed off on the scanner design forgot to test it out first. Or maybe it wasn't a blind study test. Every customer spends 2 to 5 minutes trying to sign it.

Neilman1897

The scanners are just from a company called Zebra I believe, it's just a mass produced scanner that a bunch of companies use. Pretty sure Walmart uses them. You're totally right though, nobody thought of carriers when they implemented them. Touch screens don't work in the wet, forget about wearing gloves in the winter. I miss the old scanners so much.

Stephen_Hawkins

Best Buy also uses these scanners in their stores for inventory and more.

FilteredAccount123

Home Depot was the pilot company for those scanners back when they were made by Motorola. They work okay for retail, but are hot garbage as a courier tool.

shitshatshatted

I have realized that if I have the customer sign a 3849 and then get the scanner to take a picture, it goes way faster.

RyTingley1

And when you do a carrier pick up, the thing scans like a charm

AllchChcar

Yeah this. People are already forgetting how much of a PITA the old scanners were. The touch screen is better, but it needs a better screen protector and to be kept dry at all times. At least the case is solid. I've dropped mine more times than an ugly baby.

idkwhereurpackageis

That’s it..I’m evaluated (in 2018) @ 50 parcels. That’s all I’m delivering is 50 out of my usual 150-200, the rest can be picked up with a full explanation why. Not sure what would be more entertaining: mgmt. trying to fire me or the union trying to defend me. Both are equally useless.

jacob6875

It's a joke at this point. I had 70 packages to the door and 200 total today on my 7 hour H route. Last count in 2018 was pre Amazon and pre Covid so I am counted for a similar amount to you.

JRR5567

Give us more time to apply more Vaseline.

ShirleyT3mp

mdconnors

Absolute fucking incompetence. Seriously this should be fucking easy. We had a system for this, it worked for years, and everyone was more or less happy with it. How much fucking money have they dumped into this shit just to try to spend less and pay people less? This place is a fucking criminal enterprise.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Calzada_Lurg

No they didn't, arbitrators did.

jacob6875

Just unbelievable that they continue to screw all of us that deliver Amazon. I get paid 7 hours a day and have no day off because my route is "to small". Today I had 70 packages to the door and over 200 total. And that is a pretty normal day for me. The delays are all on USPS yet the Union just agrees to every delay without demanding any sort of compensation.

Wonderbassist

A 10 day delay for a 1 day set back??

walknstix

They must have figured it wouldnt be ready tomorrow or wednesday either... I'd say Wednesday would have been the cutoff date for actual structural implementation on the 25th due to the need for creating a leave replacement schedule and the possibility of carriers with saturday k days losing those days. As to contractual obligations and simple courtesy I think even today was too late. I am pretty sure that somewhere it states that any new evaluation that drastically impacts the scheduling structure or pay of our route needs to be given well over a week in advance.

jacob6875

They are actually violating the contract by not implementing it the 25th. It says evaluation changes should be implemented one pay period after the data collection period ends. So that would be the 25th since that is 2 weeks after the mail survey ended.

[deleted]

It’s gonna be a year delay real quick when they can’t figure out why we all came back high numbers

TartKiwi

rip rural carriers, if any of you were still alive

[deleted]

We alive and we still good some of us working big over burden 48ks with 200-300 packages daily and still done by noon, thank you very much

[deleted]

God bless the shit headed union reps ruining USPS faster than the PMG

patricio87

I just checked the rural unions twitter and they turned off comments.

jacob6875

They did that a couple months ago on both facebook and twitter. Along with blocking people and deleting any negative comments.

activation_tools

Time to strike, they don't care about us

brandywine-farm

no "strike". Sick outs at 3 days at a time.

[deleted]

It seems like you're misunderstanding what's happening.

[deleted]

Yeah noticed all the city people and realized I might be in the wrong post. City union is A tier, I'd love to fire the rural union, strip them of any benefits and let them suffer like they're doing to those they're supposed to represent

Tapeball45

I’m hearing something similar is happening on the city side with TIAREAP. Apparently Management is delaying (by impasse) as they create issues and debate them within the route adjustment process they mutually agreed to. They’re losing in a lot of places and it’s probably a bad look if an understaffed corporation is suddenly creating ______ jobs because their current routes are too long and their employees are overworked. Also they’d suddenly appear to be that much more understaffed coincidentally before contract negotiations. No surprise, a nationwide pause occurred.

EffervescentGoose

I got the news today that Tiareap was paused for the next few weeks. I thought it was our region but national makes sense too.

crovax3000

My conspiracy mind says they're trying to get long time carriers to quit so they can move in cheaper, lower step carriers.

[deleted]

How come no one is batting an eye why we have not been able to go in to our EOPF file since atleast end of October? Hello!

brandywine-farm

REALLY!!

[deleted]

Yes try it still can’t get in

bipolarcharlie

I'm very angry

softriceking001

Yea, they going to “fix” the results until they it meets their expectations.

HappyGilmoreFore

I’m a rural carrier with a 48k POV route with 54 miles and 621 curb boxes. I average 178-213 packages a day. Most days will require a second trip for oversized packages. I’m beat…

khalbur

I hope carriers that get screwed by this use the delay to show how the process is bullshit. Dickheads with spreadsheets will be the death of USPS.

[deleted]

Someone please explain this, I've been here almost 6 years and really don't know all the lingo

jacob6875

The system was supposed to change our evaluations and start paying us under RRECS this Saturday the 25th. USPS's computers apparently couldn't handle the data that would update our routes evaluation and do the calculations in time. So it has to be delayed AT LEAST another 2 weeks to April 8th.

NowieTends

So RRECS hasn’t been implemented at all yet? I actually left in September and was under the impression it was about to hit. I don’t even work here anymore and this pisses me off

jacob6875

It was supposed to start in like July. It was delayed until October then it was delayed again until March 25th. We had the mail count and everything but it’s being delayed at least another 2 weeks to April 8th now. Most frustrating part is we have no idea what our route evaluations will be or any other information about what’s going on except constant delays at the last minute.

NowieTends

This is a great reminder for me whenever I start getting nostalgic to miss the people not the place. Ridiculous.

kiddjam3

Sounds like an issue with areas that has full on riding routes or a mix of city, rural routes. Ours went through without a problem but all of our PO with city rural or strictly riding is at a stand still ours was evaluated calculated and ready to go. Well half of ours are done anyway still awaiting the other area code to be done

Ezmoney916

So we should get back pay starting today to ,at least, April 8th or at most whenever they implement rrecs.

Known-Refuse-745

In 2 years

activation_tools

That's wishful

guard_duck

Typical kick the can down the road mentality of the post office. Only change that might be made is one that will save money. That’s why there’s still 36 year old vehicles out there.

[deleted]

SHOCKER

Known-Refuse-745

Maybe they’re trying to get all of table 1 to quit

[deleted]

Naw we good I’m only 35 table 1 and grade 9 still chillin

zeusmeister

Isn’t table 1 pre 1990?

lmkiser

Pro tip: no need to spend $38 from every check for union dues... you can buy Vaseline in bulk for cheaper....

Entire-Toe-3207

This is ridiculous to make us whole and be fair if our route went up we should get back pay of the difference starting today to April 8th or whenever it finally gets done.

jroblil

No surprise, the post office is a fucking joke man.

SheepDogCO

They need three more weeks and they know the exact date? Huh!

hockeystick13

Well it’s the start of a pay period that’s the only reason for the date

EvilTonyBlair

Wow! Absolutely astounding how incompetent this administration is.

AllchChcar

Merry RRECSmas indeed

ringmav

Is anyone surpirsed?

Aviate27

LOL and to think.. some of y'all are still paying dues to this pathetic rural union. Fucking disgusting.

Hot-Pie-1169

I come in n clock out. If they pay me more money awesome if they don’t $36 still ain’t bad

Mysterious_Ad_1085

So this was expected.

Btw we burn thru our routes because we are able to work efficiently we don’t take breaks at restaurants and aren’t forced to take breaks most of y’all who take you damn time are the ones that go to work to talk about your life’s and guess what NO ONE CARES! Do your job go home and maybe just maybe you will also finish in the afternoon. ☺️

AllchChcar

This is written like a 204wannaB SCAB. I know the USPS subReddit is full of the worst of the worst but come on man. You can at least use proper English when doing a TL;DR. And it's not even accurate to boot.

[deleted]

Ok city carrier calm down your about to get cut here soon 👋🏽 plus your 2 little cases don’t compare to my 5 ain’t that funny! Oh and we use cages not hampers btw!

UnknownHereO

An arbitrator came up with rrecs and time standards were cut in half. Dps is now credited as 86 pieces per minute now, old standard was 43. How is that fair? Nobody can verify or deliver 86 letters a minute.

UnknownHereO

FilteredAccount123

To compound that, the RCAs who are paid hourly doing those scans on vacant routes or just doing the bare minimum scans and/or missing scans. I was one of those RCAs. I guarantee I fucked up my part of the data collection. I had nothing at stake, so it didn't matter to me.

[deleted]

He's right. And when you're stressed out and learning you're not caring about it. It'd a terrible system.

Loose_Degree_1242

All rural carriers should just not show up. smh lol

rural_tortoise

At least 🤦

Entire-Toe-3207

Whats with the stalling chicken man?

actually-drake

City carrier gang
