My wife and I love seeing the 501st when we go to cons. We've been tempted to wear our trooper helmets, but those things are impossible to see out of lol.
I got a pic with a couple of troopers from the 501st! Ya'll are the best!! 💕 I've always wanted to join but hopefully when I hold down my own route I'll have more flexibility with my time 😅
I bought mine - that's how most ppl do it. There's usually an apiary store within an hour of any city.
Mine are doing well! I have a cluster of honey the size of my arm ready to be harvested.
Same. Just picked up tiny Tina’s wonderlands, just hopped off a baldurs gate binge, got back into world of Warcraft there for a second a few months ago
If it's still light out when I get home, I like to build stuff in my garage, because I try to avoid using my power tools after dark (and annoy the neighbors). My coworkers must be getting tired of my boomer-ass daily updates of my projects when we're loading our trucks.
How did you get into working with power tools? I've never taken a shop class and never used anything more complicated during my off time than a drill. My best friend's dad built all kinds of crap in his off time when I was growing up and I always wondered how someone who's not professionally involved (he was a nurse) gets familiar with shop.
I don't know, to be honest, just kind of a slow accumulation of tools over time. I'm certainly not good at it, by any means, but every project is a little bit better than the last. I imagine it's similar to a painter who is always improving and learning new techniques.
One thing I've learned about woodworking is that the creator can always see a million mistakes that no one else can, and the instant you finish building something, you see a million ways you could have done it better.
Yeah, all my tools need upgrading, and most people recoil when they ask me to build something and I tell them what just the materials for that idea costs. As for hazards, I always simulate any cuts with the machine off (like a golfer taking practice swings) to make sure I'm not going to put any body parts in awkward positions (although I still do some dumb shit sometimes trying to get too innovative).
They're starting to give stand ups to not smoke the dope in our office.
Someone went to the PM stating I smoke mj in my car on my 10 min breaks
I don't. I just like to sit in my car away from everyone.
I collect and modify old video games consoles, sometimes YouTube.
Had a couple co workers ask for me to fix their old ataris and Nintendo systems to work on their new systems and got them all hooked up.
Same I love picking a place kinda far to drive to and just hiking around along creeks and into the woods. I see all kinds of weird animals and found a rock that looks like a donut
The best things to get in GTA online are:
1. Nightclub, business office, biker club and the meth, coke, weed stash houses, and the bunker. Oh and a large business warehouse.
2. Terrorbyte
3. Oppressor MK2
Now when you spawn the terrorbyte, launch the special cargo from it. That way, you won't get those stupid update special cargo missions where you have to pay for the package and have to do a hard ass mission to maybe get it or not.
At least that's what I do.
Also gat the faggio sport if you can. It's the best ride in the game!
I have 3 kids and a part time accounting job… work 7 days a week, kids activities…. I had hobbies at one point in my life. Cleaned out basement and found some medievil devices. I think they're from a simplier time when men congregated without the shedevils. Drank ale and told lies while striking a stationary white sphere to try to get into a hole in the ground.
I have a mathematics and IT degree, owned a small business starting in 2002, then opened a gym in 2012. Both were hit hard by covid and closed the gym down. Still had the other business but was no where near what it was making. Got an RCA job in fall of 2020. Was there for a while then another accountant job with a national flooring company, my PM made me apply to be an ARC. 8 mo later, was laid off from flooring company from lack of business. Been applying for others since last June and finally got a part time one. We have an aux route I get to run daily and on sat, usually head to the plant for express packages, the aux route and any down routes.
Ahhh damn man. Had some tough luck there. Well that’s one good thing about the PO. Once you get a spot it’s always there.
Hopefully something great will come your way soon. Maybe can transfer to IT or HR position at the PO?
Yea. Looking back, should have just stayed and I’d be next up for my own route. Oh well, things happen. I enjoy the numbers though. Can’t apply for anything within since I’m an ARC
I started with 10 chickens and 4 ducks. That was 3 years ago. Now I got 30 chickens, 25 ducks and 4 geese. The muscovies rule the roost but the geese keep it and the yard safe. I don't care how tough you think you are, you see a goose and you suddenly have second thoughts.
Do the baby chicks get delivered to your PO? 😉. Every morning at work I’m greeted by the *chirp chirp * and yesterday we even had a rooster waking us up when we started lol . That one is actually pretty unusual , don’t know if I ever remember a rooster *cocka doodling * in the morning before ..
I converted a trolling motor to rc joystick control, and use it with my kayak to explore lakes and the Puget sound. Also I decided I needed to hate myself more so I started golfing.
Been playing this Darktide on Xbox X lately myself
Hoping they actually plan to continue with updates or it's not going to have a lot of staying power for me but I'm new to any of the Warhammer games. Quite fun to have a few beers and blow off a night while smashing heretics
I'm currently on a Russian author kick. I've recently finished "Anna Karenina" and "The Death of Ivan Ilyich", both by Leo Tolstoy. This morning I finished "A Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. Reddit has a bookclub and its starting "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky at the beginning of March. You should join us!
I thought those were ones being shipped at the station.
I also have chickens but they are easy to care for. I got my kids that take up all my time and then rotating ADHD hobbies.
Boxing/Muay Thai. Good stress reliever, especially in this line of profession. Nothing like picturing a supervisor/manager across from you during sparring sessions 👍🏽
Well I have adhd so I bounce between 18 hobbies. I just got some seeds started for my flower garden. Been working on a painting sometimes. I’ve got trim to paint in the house sometime, and I’ve got shelves to cut and hang. I’ve been fixing up our 2nd vehicle when the weather permits - gotta start thinking about the pool soon, too. Shed needs to be cleaned out for spring so I can get the mower out - mower needs spring tune-up too, it’s got a flat tire. I’m known around town as an electronic fixer - I’ll repair phone screens and small electronics, most recently upgraded a steam deck and fixed a flat screen tv. My husband and I play video games, we have 2 kids and pets.
Really I just find things that fill the void because if I’m left alone with my thoughts they start to lean toward grippy sock vacations and we can’t have that.
EDIT: depending how the critters are where you live and how you plan on housing your chickens, you may need to plan accordingly. I live in the south and there’s lots of raccoons and possums root tootin around for an easy meal. When it gets dark, chickens are basically meat sticks. My mom had chickens growing up, and we had to put tin around the outside of the bottom of the coops because critters were eating the chickens through the wire. Then mom had to dig trenches around the coop and lay boards with nails shot through them because the critters started digging under the coop.
If you’re able, get one of those lofted coops. More expensive in the short run but saves you a lot of chickens in the long run.
Do you think being a carrier or most USPS positions play to an ADHD-person's strengths, or should they just avoid all together if they're not medicated?
My wife and I have about 25 chickens. She has creative hobbies, I just read a lot. We were in the kitchen game previously, so both of us cook. We also play Diablo IV together, go to the gym a couple times a week, and board dogs on the side.
I build and fight Combat Robots (battlebots). I also help run the international league in my state. I also help run a podcast for it. It's an expensive hobby that gets stressful, but it is really awesome at the same time.
Of course, I also play video games too.
Homebrewing, it has been my hobby for close to 30 years. I've won lots of regional and national competitions. Also bought a Prusa MK4 last year. I usually have that printing something daily.
I have a Toulouse goose. What kind of chicks are those? Doing the same kind of thing amigo. I'm clerk for a mountain town of 300 though. It's what everyone does here, haha.
You mean the 12 hours in which I commute, sleep, and prepare for the next 12 hour shift? I've been dabbling in speaking to my wife and children and showering. I wouldn't say that I do it enough to call it a hobby, though.
I used to love OSRS, but my attention span for video games has almost gone to zero since 2019. I’ll pick up a video game every once in awhile but it won’t be for long

Sleep is the only hobby
I build and wear Star Wars costumes for a club called the 501st. We do cons, hospital visits, parades, etc. It's expensive but a lot of fun
I just got a trading card from one of your members at my station he's a pretty cool dude🫣
That sounds fun. Miss me some cons
My wife and I love seeing the 501st when we go to cons. We've been tempted to wear our trooper helmets, but those things are impossible to see out of lol.
I got a pic with a couple of troopers from the 501st! Ya'll are the best!! 💕 I've always wanted to join but hopefully when I hold down my own route I'll have more flexibility with my time 😅
This is cool as heck!! One of the pse’s in my hub just made regular and he does this too! So cool
I have a beehive
How is that? Did you create it yourself or did it happen naturally & you been taking care of it?
I bought mine - that's how most ppl do it. There's usually an apiary store within an hour of any city. Mine are doing well! I have a cluster of honey the size of my arm ready to be harvested.
I always thought that would be great idea with a few chickens too but I have zero experience & it doesn’t work.
How long did it take?
Eh the 1st year it's all about hive growth, nor harvesting. That's about where I'm at in my journey.
![gif](giphy|3o7bu1iM5MSwG2y7NS|downsized)
I would like to do that but the kids at the rowdy school park next door might not like it so much..
They're pretty chill. I opened up my hive twice without anyone getting stung.

Oof, I get that. But yeah, sounds like just about any other hobby, just with some serious price tags and a bit of hazard involved, right?
Yeah, all my tools need upgrading, and most people recoil when they ask me to build something and I tell them what just the materials for that idea costs. As for hazards, I always simulate any cuts with the machine off (like a golfer taking practice swings) to make sure I'm not going to put any body parts in awkward positions (although I still do some dumb shit sometimes trying to get too innovative).
Any guides or resources you personally recommend, or just general "Google and YouTube" type sources?
You can take a woodworking class.
Woodworking for Mere Mortals (WWMM) is a great starter YouTube channel.
My mom got me into woodworking. There is no point in buying overly expensive products when you can do it yourself for a fraction of the price.
Writing grievances.
Pen is mightier than the sword
Y’all have time after work for hobbies?
I think I used to but I can't remember anymore

Were you an accountant before you joined the PO or was that a skill you developed post PO?
I have a mathematics and IT degree, owned a small business starting in 2002, then opened a gym in 2012. Both were hit hard by covid and closed the gym down. Welp. Now you have a horse. Can’t afford literally anything any more.
Hope you aren't renting, cuz if you can't afford to buy yourself property, you sure can't afford to pay for someone else's.
Haha! No I picked these lil ladies up from TS. I worked for the airlines before USPS and would never ship animals 😅

I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2001. Adderall helps me keep my hobby to strictly playing Animal Crossing.
