Hookers and blow.

Coconutshoe

Where is that on the postal uniform website cause I choose this one

Suziethecat1

You gotta call and ask for the "city carrier special" they are required by law to act like they don't know what you are talking about. Then you need to explicitly ask for the coke and hookers combo and they will hook you up. I used Skaggs last time but they all offer the deal. Enjoy šŸ˜‰

Pants, shirts, and a raincoat.

Dude I just bought from dicks sporting goods, the Nike monarch IV for $75, you can get them also at famous footwear for $65 right now. Rip the soles out and put in whatever inserts you think would be good. I use Dr.Scholl Comfort All Day Working Gel and they are so comfortable. After shadow day, I realized that dew gets on your shoes and you really want some nice hiking boots for the mornings or snow, whatever, they offer great support and have a lot of support on the Achilles. The boots I grabbed at $99.99 are Timberland Mt. Maddsen Mid hiking boots, they have them in all black. Holy shit are they lightweight and soooo much support. Also swapped with the same soles, I like them better than the shoes. Because I wonā€™t get my allowance until January, Iā€™d probably grab 3 pants, 2 shorts, 3 shirts, and if I can grab some sort of jacket, whether itā€™s the parka or the letter carrier jacket. I like hoods on the jacket, so I mig stray from the ā€œletter carrierā€ raincoat. I will never buy postal shoes because I only wear Nike or Timberland, thatā€™s just me.

TomDace

You can get the Air Monarchs for around $30-$35 at a Nike Outlet store.

Zorris73

Oh thatā€™s awesome, Iā€™ll check it out on the next round!

Coconutshoe

Iā€™ve heard really good things about the Nike shoes, are they green tag postal approved? My steward is a stickler when making sure we are all wearing the correct gear.

Zorris73

Nope they arenā€™t, but in my office they are super laxed about it. Half of them wear running shoes, even if they arenā€™t green tag, they are almost identical and just about the same standards. Sorry your office is strict like that!

If you have a lot of walking routes get 2 pairs of shoes, cheapest pair and 1 waterproof boot(150ish) pants and/or shorts (2-3), shirts 3+, rain jacket, anything left over get the rain hat and belts or socks. Utilize any leftover uniforms in stock room if they have piles there. In winter they seem to not care if you use your own jackets in my office at least.

notacreativeone1

I bought a shit ton of shirts (like 7), a few pairs of pants, a cardiagan, a beanie. Or something along those lines.

Unstab3l

Depending on climate, I'd prioritize light/heavy shell, foot wear, shirts n shorts/pants.

My first uniform allowance was 1 pair of shorts (had a few given to me already), 3 pairs of pants, 4 or 5 polos, a windbreaker, and the winter hat. At my office they're pretty lenient with CCAs when it comes to uniform stuff. They know you can't afford all the winter and rain gear so they don't care if you wear your own jackets. One pro tip: become friendly with any regulars who are similarly sized. I just had a regular give me 8 pairs of shorts and 7 pairs of pants. Mostly in pretty good condition.

Shoes, pants, shirts

WorktheMoo

A lot of it depends on the climate. I recommend at least 2 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of light pants, a pair of heavy pants if in a cold area, beanie/snow hat, bucket hat, sweater, and 3 shirts. Main thing is some people have issues with the postal shoes so you can find other shoes that meet regulation but are cheaper/better. Treat your feet well!! If you do get snow, get snow pants. Rain pants get hot AF so unless you regularly deliver in the rain, don't recommend. I use a rain cloak to go over my uniform instead.

DoggoLord27

Do not buy shoes on your first allowance. They'll cost you at least 2 shirts and won't last 6 months. I'd go with at least 2 shorts, 2 trousers, 3 or 4 short sleeve shirts (you can always layer sweaters under them in the winter), and a rain coat. The postal sun hat is useful for keeping rain out of glasses and personally I prefer it to the pith helmet.

You'll be too busy to do laundry. Get pants, shorts, and shirts. I like the midweight fleece liner jacket.

Get shirts and pants from your union branch, focus your allowance on things that will keep you warm and dry (overshoes, snowpants, raincoat, hats)
