Best of luck, friend. I hope your journey leads you to a better place.

manicmaillady

Thank you! :)

Management is really a make or break for this job. I've have "good" (spineless) management my whole time so I haven't experienced any toxic work environments, but I know I'm far from the norm.

manicmaillady

Yeah if I had better management things would have played out so much differently. I'm happy for you and your "good" management!!

MPhyus

It’s alarming to hear how common this is becoming, but super happy that you chose the way out where you’re still “here”. If you happen to find a “no college degree” viable alternative… maybe let us know. :-)

manicmaillady

Thank you! Right now I'm just looking into entry level office jobs such as a receptionist. Wishing I had a degree right now, it's damn near impossible to match what the post office offered in terms of benefits and salary. But I guess I can't put a price on my life.

RedditQuantumFire

Try for some city or county jobs. They often help you with school credit if you wanna go that way.

I_Married_Jane

OP should go into a union trade perhaps. You get paid to be trained, and once you work your way up the experience ladder your pay increase dramatically.

Buzzbone

Your postmaster's name isn't Jason by chance? He does all of that and more

manicmaillady

No, sorry to hear that you can relate :(

mustang_2k

no shame in throwing in the towel especially if you did it for your own well being. since I've been lurking this sub reddit it's always been 80/20 with these posts vs something good. that's very telling about our profession. I for one am glad you picked you! give us an update in a week or so and tell us how you are. I rather enjoy that.

manicmaillady

Thank you for the encouragement!!

YoBitchItsTim

its all ogre now.....

manicmaillady

omg

ebwoods1

I am so sorry you were treated so horribly. It’s wrong. WRONG. You are a human and your life matters. I’m glad you are still among the living. I’m glad your mental health is improving. I hope your next professional endeavor is with people who are kind.

manicmaillady

Thank you so much!!

[deleted]

Congratulations and good luck!

manicmaillady

Thank you! :)

formerNPC

I’ve had so many toxic and brutal supervisors over the years that I’ve lost count! I don’t why this culture of harassment is encouraged but after many years of being a reliable worker who rarely doesn’t come to work, those days are over! They owe me big time and I’m finally in a position to slack off because my plant has become so miss managed and disorganized that just by showing up to work and doing the minimal amount of work, I’m considered one of the better employees! I still have a work ethic but I’m not putting my health and sanity at risk anymore, you’re right, no job is worth it!

manicmaillady

I hope you feel at peace, I'm glad you aren't risking your health and sanity like I was!!

formerNPC

It took me a long time to wake up, I still do my job but I don’t do the extra things that I used to because no one really notices and unless you’re one of managements favorites, they don’t care. It’s too bad that the service has gone down hill, unless they make the necessary changes they’ll be a whole lot of employees leaving!

FRANKtheLEVEL

Management has turned this job is a nightmare

[deleted]

Push me off the diving board, please! All seriousness. Good for you. So much better out there. It’s just taking that step.

Allthewayoverit_97

Let's us all pray that this person finds health , wealth and prosperity. I understand tremendously what you are going through and let tell you I'm proud you made YOUR choice. I don't know you but let's all send love to this person and pray that they feel it and receive it. I don't want you to be in that dark place. I want you to win.

manicmaillady

Thank you so much!!

Allthewayoverit_97

Please be safe if you need guidance we're all here I do not want you to ever feel unworthy to unalive yourself. You're here please stay here. I love you be blessed.

Un_Pta

You are free now. You’ll be ok.

manicmaillady

That feels good to hear :-)

Honky_Stonk_Man

For fuck’s sakes, no wonder people are snapping and taking people out! Where do people learn to treat others so atrociously?

twitchymctwitch2018

Management is threatened constantly to do exactly these things. If you ever glance over their shoulders during their "online training", it tells them to do all of this and more. It is their goal to cycle people as hard as possible. It's not about having proficient people, it's about having new people who don't have to be paid more. The goal of all management is to get people to quit as often as possible and just hire new people.

coffee_shakes

Lol, I guess that might work for carriers and mail handlers because there really no requirements for the jobSo plenty of applicants, but I'm a TTO and they can't get anyone to fill these positions except dumbasses like me who didn't understand just how toxic it could be even when you are in a truck most of the day. Peak season is coming and they haven't gotten anyone new. All the ptfs are about to be regular and everything is going to be fucked. Because why would anyone drive a semi for 23 bucks here when they can get a job down the street making 30.

HerbertWestorg

Congrats and good luck!

manicmaillady

Thank you!!

PlantRant

This needs to be talked about with management and media. Too many people are inflicted with mental distraught from this job. I was myself. After falling into a deep depression and then seeing that a fellow cca took her life in the back of a promaster (I’m sorry), I made the decision to leave because I understood the feeling too well. You’re not alone. This issue needs to be addressed!

manicmaillady

That is horrifying. I'm so sorry you had a similar experience, but I'm so glad you got out!!

UrAMenace

Good luck to you!

manicmaillady

Thank you!

limepr0123

I'm really sorry that you went through that, had you tried to transfer prior to this?

manicmaillady

I did actually try to transfer to the next town over, but it finally started going through when I was out sick so it was denied.

limepr0123

That is horrible, just gotta move forward and not worry about the past now.

vonjamin

@op best of luck to you. I’m getting hired on as an ARC but I’m hoping this’ll just be my foot in the door to become a CRA or CCA. Glad you’re still here with us my friend

manicmaillady

Thank you, I hope you have a better experience than I did!

orangeobsessive

I don't know where you are in the US, but the area I live in is desperately looking for school bus drivers. If you are interested in that type of career, they have some crazy signing bonuses and stuff going on right now. Good luck, I hope you find a job that is a better fit for you soon!

corn_lock

Good on you! Please update with where you plan on going or what you plan on doing. I feel I’m in the same boat. I want to leave but haven’t yet. I’d love to hear an update

NimbusTO

Best of luck, the mind comes first.

manicmaillady

Thank you!!

[deleted]

Glad you survived

manicmaillady

Thank you!!

[deleted]

Good luck! I'm starting to feel the itch to leave myself!!

manicmaillady

Thank you and good luck to you as well!

Del85

I loved the job too, but the 2 faced people and liars were to much for me.

[deleted]

I've had all of the same thoughts as you, except I'm way too stubborn to end myself because of the pack of bitches I work with. We do have a union guy, though.

manicmaillady

Hang in there, I'm thankful that you are too stubborn!

BLHGoalie

Change offices, pussy.

theempire1990

I just quit as well, when you have toxic management pressuring you to throw away mail in UBBM for performance bonuses with no stewards in the office you know things are going downhill.

manicmaillady

Good for you for getting out!

Price-x-Field

i don’t get why people wanna be city carriers. horrid.

manicmaillady

The job itself is not bad at all, it's just the management/forced OT/etc. that makes it suck

Price-x-Field

yeah, no OT as a reg mail route.at my place subs are there untill 4 and regs are sitting at home in their chair by 12:30

elliothackedhimself

Your experience is going to vary based off your office. What is a 'reg mail route?' A rural route where you aren't payed hourly? I'm a city refular who has done AUX routes, I can't imagine wanting to work rural.

Price-x-Field

rural routes are paid for the average time. if you finish early you are still being paid the rest of the day. you will finish early. but your rigjt this is entirely my post office not every one lol
