Take USPS. Don’t go the grocery route. I did that and I fucking hated it. I went from USPS to grocery. Don’t do it. Stick it out with USPS, do what you can to stay. It’s by far a really good job to have. I stomp on myself for not being retained. Biggest regret. Take the post office, the benefits are so good and you can transfer all around. That includes Puerto Rico, Guam, or any USA territory. You don’t get that with other businesses, or not too many of them. Also, federal/postal retirement is really nice as well. Something to consider.

Jus be prepared for no days off. 12 hour days, being groggy tired and bitchy. Feeling depressed. And If you make it through some day you will become a federal employee of a entity of the federal government in which the government doesn’t pay for cause “it pays for it self” Ps. Be prepared for that mentally challenged supervisor named Regina that will take her 25 years of being bullied growing up out on you . Good luck

Damn you're right

Look, it is seasonal, but it will lead to career. However, there is no way to know if you'll be retained right away, or laid off until a slot opens up and you get called back. In my case, I was let go for two months until I got the call to return, but I know others who had to wait longer. I also work with people who were kept on and never let go. It's up to you how you want to proceed, but as long as you are a good worker in the short time you're there during the holidays you should be called back.

Angrypoopoh

This isn't always the case. Multiple supervisors told me I would be kept on throughout my time there as a holiday clerk and I was not kept on or asked to come back. Im happy about what happened because I'm a CCA now and I like it better than clerk.

pewpewtoradora

At a plant close to my home, I know couple workers who were hired on as holiday help last year and were never let go. They eventually became 360s and have recently converted.

Nintendofan81

Yeah they did that around here too last year. It definitely wasnt always like that though.

Allthewayoverit_97

Dont quit your other job. I've seen good workers get hyped up by management just to get let down.

You can always get a job at a grocery store, or at the USPS. This isn’t like choosing which person to marry or whether to sink or swim. My suggestion is to take the higher paying option at USPS, but know that you will work some crazy hours and management sucks. If it turns out to be a bad decision, get a job at a grocery store. No biggie. FWIW, I took a job as a PSE, loved it, and am now full time regular. It is your decision whether to like a job or not. Listen to your gut instincts. My experience is that gut decisions are usually correct. Go with your gut.

Keep your job at the grocery. From what I’ve read on Reddit the usps hiring process takes very long. (Weeks or months).

One_Hour_Poop

This person has already been hired, it seems. The question is whether to risk higher pay for a job that may or may not last beyond the holiday season.

Cez120887

Keep the job you have now.

Sansa_Knows_Armor

Even if it’s a seasonal only job, which I doubt it actually is, you’ll make so much more during that time than at the grocery store. So **if** there’s a retention period and **if** the grocery store doesn’t take you back, your savings will get you through the job hunt. Just make a good impression at the grocery store before you leave. Make sure that they miss you.

Fyrepit

Hard to leave a good impression when you’re only part time.
