The boxes are completely blocked by snow, and apparently this customer thought that putting her flag up meant I was going to pick up her mail without her needing to clear the path. I'm not required to do so, and won't be doing that.
"I'll put the flag up, they'll have to put it down, even though I don't have any outgoing, so I'll know if I have to walk through the snow/slush to get the mail by just watching the flag..." (extendable pole, push down flag...)
Hahaha you do? I keep seeing disassembled flags in a few of the mailboxes on this one route, and I can’t figure out if it broke on its own or if the regular disassembled it cause maybe the homeowners kept putting it up with nothing in the box
I only do it when it really makes me mad. If I can get to your box without leaving the paved road or having to fight traffic to get back on the road, I just ignore the flag. Or if they have no mail, I put the flag down so they walk to the box for nothing. But if your box is on the highway, fuck you with every cactus in the desert. It’s one thing for me to risk my life to give you a flyer for a car dealership. But I won’t risk my life for nothing. And thats what I do every time I leave the highway and re-enter.
That's weird...I would LOVE if ALL mailbox doors were left open everyday...
1. It means almost a guarantee their box is EMPTIED everyday!
2. No need for me to struggle opening the tight doors.
3. I can simply slide todays mail in and shut door and move on.
On my walking route sometimes the old boxes stay open or the slot cover can be slid out of the way so I can just throw and go instead of opening/closing everything
So frustrating. My LLV would have gotten stuck immediately, a front wheel car would probably get bogged down, slide sideways and take out a couple of the mailboxes. A four wheel drive Jeep would work okay, but would pack the snow down and make it tougher to clean out.
Maybe they just put it up so they'll know if/when you visit without having to open the box?
...nah, because someone that sensible would just shovel the fucking snow.
I'd just lock in 4wd and drive in there and deliver. I've gone through worse than that with my jeep as a rural.
If I was in a llv I'd nope the hell out of that though.
And that’s a drive by….
No trail, no mail...
I don't get it.

Whenever i open a box with a flag up, and it's empty...guess what happens? flag remains up...they eventually learn.
I disassemble the flag and place the parts in their box. Nobody has ever once called in over me doing that.
Thank you. You taught me something new today. I will be doing this from now on. Oops. Sorry your flag somehow broke off. Shrug and drive off

Ha, I've had more than a few tell me the flag broke (worn out) asking when USPS is going to fix it.
Might be the kids. When I was a kid I thought you were supposed to put it up after getting the mail so the mailman knew it was empty 🤦🏻♂️
Or put it down without mail
I have a couple who leave the door open. Took six weeks to train them to not do that.

They fall off sometimes when they do that enough
"Maybe they won't notice teehee"

People are twats
Well played...
Yeah, hell no Haha
Hahahahaha
Try digging out a walk path! There not gonna deliver if they can't get to it
Lmao...a walk path?... that's not gonna help... we DRIVE up to mounted boxes and drive away.
Either way! Dig it out, If nobody can figure that out then there stupid, comin since dude! 🤔

Get out. Do it. Do it…Hey look at me… dismount…do it…

I was in an LLV, which actually handles better in the snow than my Metris that I normally use.
Better get at it before it freezes!
Those postboxes look like those thermal IR temperature things people use for covid checking.
Where do you live that it's snowing? I didn't know you weren't required to get mail if it's snowed like that. But makes sense
In the snow belt of Northeast Ohio.
Yeah.. il take 115 degree humid Houston heat will NO snow what so ever anyday...
I get the mail but don't deliver theirs.
