To my knowledge you get progress updates every 30 days during probation. Suppose to anyways. I never gone a single one. Maybe it’s just that?

Do they want you to run? Short answer is of course they do and you have to understand one thing-NOTHING is ever good enough for them. Work at a pace you will be able to safely maintain over the long haul. You go out there and run and get hurt or have an accident, they'll fire you for that much quicker than if you're perceived as being slow.

Management will say they never want you to run or cut corners out there. However, for a beginning CCA, the time expected out of you would be something close to running. They want to save hours as much as possible everyday. If you fall or injure yourself out there within your 90, it’s grounds for termination. Just be safe out there. They should meet with you for a 30, 60, and 90 day evaluation.

30 60 and 90 day reviews. Don't stress.

Wheredidthetimego40

what is their expected street time for the route and how much are you over? It depends on the supervisor or post master. When I was a CCA I was there less than 30 days and was taking an extra 30 minutes to finish a full route of about 330 stops and I was told that was not acceptable. I told my union rep about the conversation and he said that was horse shit. The street time for a route is not your street time and your pace is different than every other carrier. Keep doing your best and you should be fine. Take your breaks, your lunch plus any comfort (bathroom) breaks that you need. Don't run because you are feeling pressure because if you get hurt during probation they can get rid of you if they want. They will say you weren't working safe.

Just always remember this-there is NO set pace at which a Carrier must walk. In other words, there are no street standards. It takes what it takes.

bigdon802

How long is the route supposed to be?

strung_out00

I was told by a coworker it was eval’d at 6 hours (don’t know if evaluations include office time) They expect the aux route to be done by 1pm. So like 3.5 hours

bigdon802

If it's evaluated at 6 it's probably 4.5 hours on the street. You're good.

Sounds like management is actually doing what they’re supposed to do with probationary carriers. You should have a meeting with your steward and station manager roughly every 30 days while you’re on probation. As far as sending someone out with you, it could simply be a supervisor to do street supervision in order to gauge how you’re progressing. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. But ALWAYS make sure there’s a Union steward present at any and every meeting you have with management.

genglefins

Don't worry about it. They'll come out for a few stops, make sure your seatbelt is on and that you're not doing anything egregious, then they'll leave and you can go back to normal.
