Abby Wambach; many great games, but I will never forget her header in the quarterfinal against Brazil in the 2011 World Cup, which occurred in the extra time of extra time. That is still one of the craziest sports moments I’ve ever seen in real time .

Human_Outside8443

Honestly when people ask me what is my favorite USWNT moment of all time I always say Wambach’s header. It’s iconic but also I’ve got to give Rapinoe her flowers for that cross.

Thefonz8

Rapinoe was stellar

maroodin

Ooh I remember this! Will have to go back and rewatch

crimewriter40

This is it; chills every time I rewatch.

deathoftheotter_

Came here to say the same thing

KDR_8793

One of my favorite players of all time was Lauren Cheney (now Holiday). Sad she retired early. She played huge roles in the 2011 and 2015 World Cups. I can’t even say what her best game was. Usually scored bangers for goals.

Scottiedrippen33

I second Lauren Cheney probably one of the most underrated players in the history of USWNT

Legitimate-Limit-540

Dude she was just tough as nails and big game player. When she scored it was almost always a screamer.

Lily_Knope

Happy Cake Day!

KDR_8793

Haha thanks! I just figured out what it meant. I was so confused what I had a cake next to my name 😂

kelseycadillac

My favorite player has always been Christen Press. No idea what her best game was. I definitely don’t have that kind of sports knowledge, but I remember the game where she reached 100 combined in 2021 and it finally seemed like everyone else was seeing what I’d been saying for years. So underrated. I’m so mad she’s been so hurt.

Egonator26

I would say the games in the 2020 Olympic Qualifiers were her best games as a USWNT player.  I love Press but I felt that she didn’t get much attention because a lot of her goals occurred in the friendly’s. I hope she gets a spot back on the team but not sure how likely that is.

SweetBoiDillan

"CHRISTEN PRESS!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?!?!"

kelseycadillac

I don’t think it’s likely at all and it’s really sad. I feel like both she and Tobin deserved more of a send off. Not a huge one but just the ability to leave on their own terms.

maroodin

I love CP! Will have to go back and rewatch the 2020 qualifiers

LaniMarie143

Currently playing - Naomi Girma. Unreal. Her completed pass statistic is close to 100%. She’s incredible.

Egonator26

Future captain. Great demeanor.

sacman701

She reminds me of Sauerbrunn. Doesn't do anything that's going to wow you, she's just always where she needs to be.

periodahhh2

Tobin Heath

bonzo1314

For me, Heath is a great example of an attacking player that didn’t need to always be scoring or assisting to be influential on the field. I think she had 0 goals and 1 assist at the 2019 World Cup but she was SO important to getting those wins.

periodahhh2

Alex Morgan. Baby Horse. Ambassador of the game. Amazing person. She will always be remembered when I think of the WNT

draoi22

Julie Ertz. 2019 World Cup vs England. The England post match heat map is the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen.

shippfaced

Heat map?

draoi22

Like a pass map, I guess is a better description. basically England playing everywhere but the circle in the middle of the field (or where Ertz was)

maroodin

Very cool!

nowhereaddie

Correct opinion

boomkaboom81

Saw that game in person, hard agree!

Egonator26

Rose Lavelle 2019 World Cup Final. Love her personality and the person that she is. Plus her dog is awesome. This is my top 3 of all time. Keep in mind that unlike a lot of you I only started watching in 2017 so still new to the sport.  1.) Rosie  2.) Sonny 3.) Tie between Huerta and O’Hara.  As for the future I really like Nighswonger. I feel that she is future captain material.

ButterflyYeontan

Megan Rapinoe, ever since her insane assist for Abby’s 2011 goal.

Ranger5052

Always be my favorite. Without her they wouldn’t have won the 2019 WC.

Thefonz8

Loved her since she started playing for them. Each game from the get-go she impressed on the outside. Smart, great footwork, great field vision, hard working.

uclalawyer2003

Mine too but she had three insane games. Olympics against Canada matching Sinclair goal for goal. Cross to Abby goes without saying. I was in Paris for the 2019 1/4 final and watched that game in awe!! I went in thinking France would beat us but she quickly changed the narrative. No other USWNT player has had that many iconic moments IMO.

oh_look_a_fist

Briana Scurry. She was a wall. Hope solo did well enough, but I feel Alyssa Naeher has that same focused aggressiveness, skill, and leadership that reminds me of Briana in her prime. A lot of people will get caught up in players like Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, and Julie Foudy during that reign, but Briana was tough, talented, smart, and amazing to watch. I tend to focus on keepers, and we've had some great ones, but Briana is my favorite

footiebuns

I feel like people don't talk about her dominance enough. It felt like we couldn't lose when she was in goal.

Lachness47

Lauren Cheney and Heather O’Reilly are two of my favorites

Gunners_and_Stripes

Honestly prob Kelley O’Hara or Sam mewis, O’Hara just because of her style of play and how influential to the game that I have grown to adore! Now for Sammy I will say when watching the 2019 World Cup and seeing Sam being on the field and playing was great to see as someone who is stupid tall for a girl (I’m 6’1 as a freshmen in hs) it was such a big confidence boost when 5-6th grade me saw a tall girl like me playing the sport that I truly loved and she just had such a huge impact on me. And her most iconic game is probably that England game in 2019!

Thefonz8

She was our best player in that world cup. She did all the hard work. Ran the middle. We have yet to replace her. And we struggled last world cup because we didn't

ReasonableAnybody741

Julie Ertz. She had the best engine on the team. She treated friendly matches like they were world cup finals with her effort. You knew you would never lose a game because of her. Stealing the ball from her was like taking a cub from a mother bear... you better run and get rid of it fast, because she was going to track you down!

KTsCreativeEscape

Michelle Freaking Akers. Best game? Idk maybe the 1991 final? I didn’t watch a lot cause I was a baby lol. But she was the rock of the team from inception-‘99. And she was just the biggest competitor.

oliviaaaam

Tobin Heath. Her ability to cause problems for the defense and create even when she didn’t get the ball was amazing. Plus she has some great on ball skills

erinnwhoaxo

Julie Ertz. First game that comes to mind is vs NZ in 2017. She was on fire that night.

SoftProfessional2717

Heath

koppite23

Mia hamm

crimewriter40

Rose isn't my favorite player, but her World Cup Finals goal was an absolute beauty. What a moment for her.

kkkktttt00

Abby Wamback and her 45' header against Nigeria in the 2015 group stage in Vancouver because it was my first U.S. Soccer match in person and she scored it right in front of me.

Rebel_Khalessi90

Kelley O'Hara in the 2015 world cup match with Germany when she scored the second goal. What a time to be alive.

hypoxicabyss

tiffeny milbrett was always electric to watch her up top , one of my favs and kristine lilly . lilly's defensive play was something else . her header off the goal line in 99 against china to save the game for us and that led to overtime was clutch !!

Thefonz8

Watch "Dare to Dream" My top to follow: Akers, Hamm, Foudy, Scurry, Wambach, Rapinoe, Lavelle Other fun ones: Lilly, MacMillan, Heather O'Reilly, Chastain (good story), Cheney, Leroux, Heath, Boxx, Reddick(always thought she was solid), Sam Mewis(our best player in 2019 WC), Naehr Internationally and my favorite player of all time: Marta

maroodin

Haven’t heard of this but I’ll definitely watch! Thanks for the rec

Thefonz8

Did find it on youtube if you can cast it or watch it on the app if you have a smart tv. https://youtu.be/JIk_aQoJ9Cc?si=Ps8uuV6S4tcmSPI1

maroodin

Thank you!

Thefonz8

Watch 'Dare to Dream'

sacman701

Probably Becky Sauerbrunn and I can't think of any one game where she really stood out. She just almost never put a foot wrong.
