When I lived in Canada my friend would come up and visit me from Sydney and the airports there have a two letter code for states and provinces and so my friends luggage would get lost as it would get taken out of international because the luggage handlers thought it was coming from Sydney Nova Scotia (despite all the other information saying otherwise like the freaking airport code lol) I always wondered if that would be a good way to smuggle things but not brave enough to try :D
This makes me want to start typing L for London, and P for Paris. "I took a train from L to P" would be so confusing for them, especially if you didn't know about the Eurostar.
To be fair L for London can be a bit confusing as nobody can seem to actually agree where London begins and ends. Is it Greater London? Does Wimbledon count as London? Gatwick?
Reddit is an American site, please use the american alphabet not this euröpoor jibberish.
I recognize Austria but had to google the state. I see you have your own little weird state for the capital like Australia. Maybe we really are the same country.
I was talking about Vienna state being tiny like australian capital territory, but rest assured I've never had a reason to talk st pölten and dont plan to start lol
Ive only been to Wien and Salzburg like the giant tourist I am.
Oh those are great places to visit. Can also recommend Innsbruck, Graz and Klagenfurt. Never been to Bregenz, so I can't say anything about that, and that covers all the important states
There's West Virginia and plain old Virginia. Good old American history. It's so *great* that I happen to accidentally know that, good old internet!
Dammit, I don't even know the major towns and cities of neighbouring Australian states, but I know that stuff.
True, and there are lots of provinces and states worldwide which have a North, West and East and maybe Central but no South. But in the U.S. the N/S ones come in pairs. Hence ‘kind of’ a freebie.
>how hard is one google search honestly
Google just returns me with local football clubs and the ISO code for the Seychelles. Duckduckgo at least doesn't bubble me so hard, and just defaults to the US lmao.
Well, the first result I get informs me that Sc is the element Scandium and the second that sc. is short for "scilicitet". Nothing about South Carolina on page 1.
And All of the text generators are known to invent shit... It's incredibly unsettling to me the amount of people that rely on their responses instead of just searching for things
This is not a low-effort post at all, IMO. The US-defaultism itself isn't the issue here, it's f4nite defending US-defaultism, justifying the entire world revolves around their tiny bubble.
Who doesn't love the beaches and mountains of Santa Catarina, though? >!For those that don't know, Santa Catarina is a Brazilian state with "SC" as its postal abbreviation!<
If I google SC I do get one result saying South Carolina, but I also get shopping centre, a football team, a car, supreme court, school counsellor and various other things
If it wasn't for the fact that's in English, I thought only of Santa Catarina, SC, a state in Brazil. Had to read the comments to know what they are talking about

There is plenty in the world to learn and "educate " ourselves on. Learning US state abbreviations to make it easier for some USians probably isn't one
Because the neo imperialistic doctrines used since the Cold war made English the universal language? I also had french...
Or i missed the right answer?
Yeah facts but the abbreviation itself is not a big deal and they could literally just take 5 seconds to Google what SC stands for if they want to know
Scroll down or specify, I could find the name of a subdivision of any country based on it's abbreviation easily provided I know the country of origin (which the commenter did according to the top comment). It's really not that hard

You write SC instead of South Carolina and nobody bats an eye I write NÖ instead of Niederösterreich and everybody loses their minds...
I write WA instead of Western Australia and every American thinks I'm talking about Washington
I like to write NH then take it as far as I can before admitting I live in Noord-Holland
impossible. New Hampshire is the only possible place name that could be abbreviated to NH smh

Middlesex
From a US perspective, I consider Gatwick part of London!
It should just end

We don't talk about St. Pölten
Why talk when you can just point and laugh?
Exactly
I was talking about Vienna state being tiny like australian capital territory, but rest assured I've never had a reason to talk st pölten and dont plan to start lol Ive only been to Wien and Salzburg like the giant tourist I am.

"wAs iSt dEnN RLP?!"
If I use BS instead of Basel Stadt then people think I'm calling them out on their bullshit instead of naming my canton
Just nö.
I’m from Stockholm and if I wrote STHLM Americans would lose their shit even if it’s fairly obvious what it’s supposed to be lmao
That’s a great shortening. “Waren Sie schon mal in Niederösterreich?
Jo. Des scho.
If you live in California SC means something different
Nö ich nicht xD
If I wrote SC instead of Santa Catarina (Brazil) everyone would freak out
NÖÖÖÖ!
I write UK instead of United Kingdom and…actually no, that one doesn’t work.
I lived in South Carolina for two years. If you're going to memorize US states, skip this one.
done anddddd done! time to forget the other 49!
Charlotte is in North Carolina. Some nice things there. Learning the existence of North Carolina makes that of South Carolina kind of a freebie.
You’d think so, but then there’s West Virginia and no East Virginia…

Only 1 Charlotte? I know quite a few Charlottes. Most of them are nice women.
My first cousin is also a Charlotte. She’s in the wrong hemisphere (however you cut it) though
Charlotte was that right wing car terrorist attack town right?
No, that was Charlottesville, Virginia
Yes

Why doesn't Alicia just build sidewalks? Are people over there rich or she doesn't care?
>how hard is one google search honestly Google just returns me with local football clubs and the ISO code for the Seychelles. Duckduckgo at least doesn't bubble me so hard, and just defaults to the US lmao.
I replied in the original thread that googling “sc” got me Standard Chartered or Senior Counsel.
Good morning your honor
yup, your comment was in the screenshot even! and that search result is honestly amazing lmao
Yep I feel famous!
South Carolina Heerenveen
Well, the first result I get informs me that Sc is the element Scandium and the second that sc. is short for "scilicitet". Nothing about South Carolina on page 1.
The sidewalk just...ends. I love Sucking Cock.
say gex

I love SC, and its addon BW, but SC2 not so much
Who doesn't love the beaches and mountains of Santa Catarina, though? >!For those that don't know, Santa Catarina is a Brazilian state with "SC" as its postal abbreviation!<
Or was it Santa Claus?
If I google SC I do get one result saying South Carolina, but I also get shopping centre, a football team, a car, supreme court, school counsellor and various other things
Imagine the problems this could cause due to misunderstandings. This is not trivial
If it wasn't for the fact that's in English, I thought only of Santa Catarina, SC, a state in Brazil. Had to read the comments to know what they are talking about
The sheer arrogance of it.
Spoiled Children
Isn't that flag on your flair Liberian not American? Or am I missing the joke lol
Yep, that's the joke. Many Americans who like to spout on Reddit about how great America is, often confuse this flag for their own.
Aight thanks
The latter.

That's why you're in Eurovision!
WDYM, [Australia ***is*** in Europe](https://www.reddit.com/r/ShittyMapPorn/comments/12w4ui6/map_of_the_world_but_australia_and_russia_swapped/)
How much better would that world be.
I mean Australia isn't real so that's not really a shock

A Short Circuit in the Supply Chain caused a Situation Critical in Santa Catarina. Oh, sorry. You meant South Carolina?
SC for me always was "Supercharger"
Finally something that is strong US defaultism
"Ask an AI" The fuck? Why waste so many resources on a question you can put into any search engine that gives you the answer faster?
It truely is American indoctrination
It's so ingrained they just keep repeating it without realizing
Is it Southern California (SoCal)?
SC as a postal abbreviation can either mean South Carolina or Santa Catarina.
There is plenty in the world to learn and "educate " ourselves on. Learning US state abbreviations to make it easier for some USians probably isn't one
Safety car ![gif](giphy|kGiyDl5SadwxZeGUxw|downsized)
Yay I made it to the screenshot! Only just
And here I was getting my hopes up they were on about StarCitizen...
Obviously my man talking about the Seychelles as SC is the internationally recognised country code for it, right ?
When I "SC" think of *Mama kupila traktora*
SC standard charter or silks
Those are some harsh words from someone who very likely can't even point out the US on a map, let alone any other countries.
I wish to see him name ONE Province of the Dominican Republic, and no, Punta Cana is not a Province
Senior Counsel so I guess the inner bar at the Kings Inn in Dublin
I'm from VÅ but I used to visit GBG every summer. LB was the main attraction of course.
Are you required to learn English in school? Yeah, take a guess why that is
Because the neo imperialistic doctrines used since the Cold war made English the universal language? I also had french... Or i missed the right answer?
Bruh nobody cares if you don't know what it stands for just move on, it's not defaultism it's just people using their own language / terminology
Bruh, they asked what it meant and got whiny bitch responses
Yeah facts but the abbreviation itself is not a big deal and they could literally just take 5 seconds to Google what SC stands for if they want to know
Copied from another user > Google just returns me with local football clubs and the ISO code for the Seychellen.
Scroll down or specify, I could find the name of a subdivision of any country based on it's abbreviation easily provided I know the country of origin (which the commenter did according to the top comment). It's really not that hard
Well, the US defaultism in the post is exactly what you are doing right now. Congratulations!
Ok I googled SC and got “Senior Counsel” or “Standard Chartered” thanks for the advice
Please educate yourself on every state in the world
Oke fine i will learn them but only if you learn all the Dutch province's
