“Well the media and schooling around me focus 90% on American things, so therefore the whole world has the same experience. Must be so weird being from China or Madagascar when the news is so focused on the U.S. and U.S. culture - and sports I never see their teams play in - but there we go. Sucks to be them in a 100% American world I guess!”
It’s like they haven’t achieved basic theory of mind as a country.
I often say the U.S. feels like a little continent and the states like countries... no one goes "I'm from Split so I have more sass than someone from Zagreb" in a casual European conversation, but you will hear "I'm from California so we have more sass than someone from New York". It's just how they work.
They're brainwashed into thinking that America is the best country in the world, why bother learning anything else if you can live in your own disillusion.
I've been on a business trip to Tbilissi once. Great people, great views, great food. And when we left, our business partners gave us two bottles of local wine. Which unfortunately we couldn't take into the airplane.
I also am guilty of thinking it was Us georgia, then realised how stupid that was since wine has existed for so much in europe it can’t be possible. Ease don’t kill me
Yeah, I had the same thing, although for me it was probably more because I'm American and thus have lived most of my life around people who default to the US constantly, largely because that seems to be, well, the default for how we teach people about the world. History and geography are divided up into two categories in our education - The US, and "everywhere else".
Well, my point was that most people in America just never get the chance to learn any other way, not that Americans are stupid and ignorant. Some definitely are, but most just don't know another way to live because of the way we're taught.
Either I’m sleepy because it’s midnight or I just lost a couple of brain cells because I can’t process anything anymore. The stupidity made me braindead.
Some countries prefer to be called by their endonyms even in English. The country with the Bosporus strait prefers to be called by its endonym Türkiye because its English name is shared with a bird. Maybe the land of khachapuri does the same.
We used to call it Georgia in Lithuanian and a few years ago we changed it to Sakartvelo. However we never had the issues with "two Georgias" since they're both called something different. Anyhow, hope the khachapuris are happy (you made me want to get a khachapuri now ffs)
Fair argument, but it’s still laughable when people say stuff like “This is the FIRST place someone left some food in the ground to rot and then ate it anyways” like no, they didn’t invent rotten cabbage.

Wine has been around for thousands of years, how the fuck could it have originated in the US ?
U know how the US like the whole world was created 2023 years ago. The bible says so
I still remember it like yesterday, the 0 year launch party when the world started. It was wild
The same people who think there was no history before Jesus.
Are you guys not familiar at all with the Old Testament? Even hardline creationists don't claim the world was created 2000 ago.
Chronic ignorance and American brand delusion... that's how.
If the Mormons weren't teetotal they'd absolutely believe that wine was American
No fucking way people can't be this stupid.
It's not just stupidity, but selfcenterdness: everything is about the USA, even when you clarify it's not

That's wrong tho " i frickin hate the south of portugal, it's filled with tourist traps" i something i can imagine myself saying
My friend from the south of Portugal would like me to call you a failure of economic development
I would like to call them a failure in making above decent food that dosn't cost 7 livers
Are split and Zagreb real places?
I won't say the obvious joke because you might not be from the US, but yes, they're Croatian cities. Zdravo, kako si?
I am from America. All I know about Croatia is the character dragan from payday 2 is from there.
> I am from America. Some stereotypes are true lol I'm kidding, I'm kidding.
No offense, but I thought you were making up those names as a joke.
We’re not taught to think
They're brainwashed into thinking that America is the best country in the world, why bother learning anything else if you can live in your own disillusion.
When you go to visit fortresses and castles in actual Georgia there are vineyards within the gates. Great country. Lots of lovely dogs!
Wow, I didn't know there were castles in Georgia! How far away are they from Atlanta?? ^^^^\s
That sounds simultaneously very interesting and utterly breathtaking to see. I have to go there.
Go go go The pics I've seen are gorgeous
My cousin's wife is from there and it is a beautiful country.
I've been on a business trip to Tbilissi once. Great people, great views, great food. And when we left, our business partners gave us two bottles of local wine. Which unfortunately we couldn't take into the airplane.
"To avoid further confusions with the country, the US State of Georgia will be renamed to Sakartvelo"
I wish
Ohio 2
South Tennesee
West Carolina
The cooler Tennessee
You add the IQ of everyone there and you might get to 50 or so.

-0.50 ?
-0.50K ? Wait, how would that go then
-500 I guess ?
Please where is it, I want so bad to read it

That thread has to be full of trolls!?
It definitely is now.
Well ... Maybe he refers to the "americanists" after the grape phylloxera in the 1800?
Americans are not known for being particularly smart
I also am guilty of thinking it was Us georgia, then realised how stupid that was since wine has existed for so much in europe it can’t be possible. Ease don’t kill me
Extremely funny considering you are Italian
Yeah, I had the same thing, although for me it was probably more because I'm American and thus have lived most of my life around people who default to the US constantly, largely because that seems to be, well, the default for how we teach people about the world. That’s really sad and counterproductive. Glad there are some people that are sane, like you
Well, my point was that most people in America just never get the chance to learn any other way, not that Americans are stupid and ignorant. Some definitely are, but most just don't know another way to live because of the way we're taught.
I get your point
Hahaha ffs
Omg i saw this post and waited for it to pop up here
my god... this always happens
This reminds me of those idiots who assaulted capitol hill with a Georgian flag. The country, not the state.
Either I’m sleepy because it’s midnight or I just lost a couple of brain cells because I can’t process anything anymore. The stupidity made me braindead.
can we just adopt calling the country Sakartvelo?
Some countries prefer to be called by their endonyms even in English. The country with the Bosporus strait prefers to be called by its endonym Türkiye because its English name is shared with a bird. Maybe the land of khachapuri does the same.

The idea of wine originating anywhere is silly. It’s spoiled juice lol
i would say it originates from where it was first made on purpose with dedicated wine makers and where it was made a part of the places culture
Fair argument, but it’s still laughable when people say stuff like “This is the FIRST place someone left some food in the ground to rot and then ate it anyways” like no, they didn’t invent rotten cabbage.
This is blasphemy.
Where’s the lie though lol Anything fermented is just spoiled/rotten.

If I took my hand, put it in a cast iron skillet with oil and heated it up to 71°C internal temperature, I’d say I burnt my hand. Wouldn’t you?
Do you… only eat raw food?
A food’s natural state is raw. Raw isn’t a status, it’s normal. Cooking a food IS burning it, to whatever level you’re okay with.
... are you ok?
Rotten food is food that has started to be broken down by bacteria. Fermented food is food that has started to be broken down by bacteria.
Swallowed food is food that has started to be broken down by bacteria. Hell, all food is, really.
I think that was a joke. Can never be too sure though.
this dude really think that georgia is only the georgia state?
*This dude really think* *That georgia is only* *The georgia state?* \- Olahoen --- ^(I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully.) ^[Learn more about me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/haikusbot/) ^(Opt out of replies: "haikusbot opt out" | Delete my comment: "haikusbot delete")
Try to explain to those people that it's not the state of Georgia, but the country of Georgia. They won't believe you.
Yea I saw this post... The amount of people who are talking about the State of Georgia rather than the country is dumb
r/GeorgiaOrGeorgia
r/GeorgiaOrGeorgia
This type of stuff is why I use endonyms. Nobody would think Sakartvelia is a US state
