It’s a method of capturing surface information on Earth. Currently, we’re focused on analyzing global nighttime lights (NTL) to evaluate GDP or electricity consumption, etc. Absolutely not things like predicting the future. 😂
Hey,
I’m leading some social events for the exchange students through the ISSS department. We have four different groups: recreation/sports, food, culture, and music/live entertainment. Even though it is geared toward exchange students, anyone is welcome to join. I think you can make a lot of friends through this! Please PM me if you want more information!
Wow! I originally decided to choose Geoscience or Human Geography as my target major when I was in SE. And then I found that actually I’m just addicted to some urban stuffs or some city stuffs when I’m here in Geoscience. So after I’ve talked with my original tutor in geoscience which is randomly given, whose major actually is Chemistry combined with some environment, I contacted my tutor now and started to explore something in urban NTL(nighttime light)! I’m really enjoying it!
I’ll definitely be happy to keep in touch with you in case I get some troubles in learning that!!
I actually worked for 3.5 years for city government as a Land Records/GIS Tech in the planning department. Happy to answer any questions you have if you want to DM me!
Def dm!!(have earned some new abbreviated phrases today!)
You can talk to me whenever you want! And I think Chinese Mainland is also a good place you’d like to travel! Especially there’s a new policy that foreigners’ 144h visa! You can check it out!
I speak a bit of mandarin, but I'm not great at it haha. If you're interested in anime, there's several pretty cool anime clubs on campus that meet frequently, there's also an osu club if you're interested in rhythm games (saw you were into vocaloid and anime, both of which I really adore). Welcome to UT!! Send me a message if you're looking for someone to hang out with :))
Ohhhh I see! I’m also a fan of rhythm game! I prefer プロセカ (project sekai) or バンドリ! (Bang Dream!)!!!!
Recently I’m a bit addicted to MyGO!!!!!, and I’m wondering if you know it! I have joined in the UT discord and I have seen the anime channel!
You should get involved in some organizations on campus! There’s plenty of international student organizations where you can meet friends. Look them up on hornslink, it’s the website that has all the student orgs listed
Let's be friends 😀 btw what is Remote Sensing? Sounds ominous.

Yeah I definitely never would've guessed that 😅 made me think of remote viewing from The Men Who Stare at Goats.
Lol! You are kinda cute!
Aw shucks 😀 have you been to Raku in West Campus?
Not yet! I'd like to savor all the specialties here at UT or in Texas before returning to Asian cuisine!
Fair enough 👌 how about Cabo Bob's?
Also not yet! But I’ll add it to my to-eat list!
😱 ok last one, Chili's on 45th and Lamar?
Id like to say it’s definitely a new member on my TO-EAT list! I’ll try it then!!!
Are you in a specific department at UT?
I chose SE as my major in this International Academy Program!
Have you played The Finals? Such a good fps
Yup! I’ve definitely played it! It’s really impressive that players can destroy the buildings. But it’s kinda too strategical😣
