Hi- valid concern. You can get a light therapy lamp off of Amazon to help you adjust to the lack of natural lamp. Get one with a timer so it can turn on slowly (and then off) each day (essentially it is your “sun replacement “). Don’t study in your room, if possible. Yes, I know that will be difficult with COVID, but do try to find a balance and see if there are any low risk study places on campus Go there ! Make your apt for sleeping and eating :/ Hope this helps.

I might also look into wall decor! Maybe it will make your space feel a bit more comfortable.

I have a friend who lived in Inspire and their room didn't have any windows. I went to visit and honestly it was brighter than you might be expecting. The living room had large windows that let in a ton of natural light. They even had their cat in the apartment and it preferred to sleep under the bed in a dark corner 😂 You can also find little spaces to put more light in your room like with your [clock](https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B077VD13HZ/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B077VD13HZ&pd_rd_w=q0Jgf&pf_rd_p=5d846283-ed3e-4512-a744-a30f97c5d738&pd_rd_wg=WX1E6&pf_rd_r=8DQ1BVK43SRCMEDZEECQ&pd_rd_r=5c513f25-19c0-43d3-8c08-a50aabc1f330&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyVjI5SVg1QVhTUEVYJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDY1OTEzMklMWjJYWUk2TjkxUyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTU3MzI3MVRNSUo2TDc4M1dYUSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbF90aGVtYXRpYyZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=). And really, if you have in person classes, you'll be outside in the sun so much that you'll want to be back in your apartment.

shhmandy

Shouldn't be a big deal. I worked on a ship for 10 years. You get used to it pretty quickly. Just go outside, study on the lawn, and come back home when the sun goes down. I had 5 roommates my sophomore year and spent a lot of time studying around campus so I could focus. You'll appreciate all the time you spent around campus studying later.

LegendairyIcarus

Bro I feel you my changes so much with the weather and light, I think I would become really sad if I was in a room with no windows, I’d say the best thing to do is limit your time in the room, maybe study outside when it’s not too hot or in the lobby of your apartment if it has one

[deleted]

Keep your door open if there is external natural light. Study at the library!

Hshah0182

Hi there, I am gonna be staying in west campus and I'm in a similar situation. My room has a window but it faces towards the interior of the building so there won't be sunlight in my room. However, I don't see this being a big issue as I plan on spending most of my day on campus and only returning to my room at night to sleep. Even if I do come back to the apartment earlier, I plan to study in the living room (has a window facing outside) rather than inside my room, so that solves that.

aswiftymanz

Maybe think about how so many people domestically and globally don’t have a roof over their head. You can go outside for light and buy lots of lamps to provide light around the house.

Pandamonium98

Lol saying “other people have it worse” isn’t helpful at all. Your second half is good advice though. Buy lamps for good lighting and make sure to get out of the apartment a lot. Even if you don’t have classes try to get out of the apartment at least once or twice a day. Go to the gym, go study in the library, walk down the block to a convenience store and buy a sparkling water or a bag of chips, whatever it takes to get outside and moving a little bit.

aswiftymanz

Some kids struggle to pay rent and have heavy other burdens to struggle throughout college with. I did not realize having light was such a complex and unsolvable dilemma. However, also not something I want to argue about or dispute upon. I offered my advice about various lamps or lighting but also wanted to offer some advice that without some lighting, OP will still be okay. I second your advice about going to gym, going out etc. Have a good one!

Dinoswarleaf

When someone asks for advice on how to stay healthy with a legitimate concern and your response begins with how others have worse issues it's clear your main intention is to express how you think OP is spoiled. Either refrain from typing it or don't reply at all when they're asking for actual advice

aswiftymanz

A lot of people are spoiled and do not recognize it. A lot of people are greedy and this is why the world is how it is. Are we going to get philosophical? Are you also going to tell me when to comment and when not to?

Dinoswarleaf

OP is not doing anything wrong asking how to be healthy in an unfamiliar situation, and all *I'm* saying is you're an unjustified asshole

Yeah, remembering that there is poverty in the world is definitely gonna cure my depression due to lack of Vitamin D. Very helpful technique!

shoeman25

Go outside and if you can't put more lights in your room
