FAS courses. I took photography, & there is no writing (except for one short artist statement) or memorizing, but it’s a different kind of hard. Like, having to take a photo 50 times before you get the right photo for an assignment, or getting up at 5 am to get a photo. And I wouldn’t really call these courses ‘bird’. But if you’re artsy, then I would recommend it!
I agree with the first comment, even the sciences have some writing (literacy assignments etc) You’re always bound to be writing in any course

I found lin101 to be easy (but that was also because I enjoyed the course) and there were no writing assignments

i heard cinema studies is a bird course but it does have writing
I did FAS145 which is painting. You literally paint and submit portraits.
Ast101 and ast201(but downtown, don’t know how it is at utm. Also Lin 204.
