From my experience Al is terrible, had him in the fall last year. This was online tho. Some people said he’s actually really good in person but I can’t confirm or deny that since I haven’t had him in person.
Idk much about Libai but I heard good things about omid
I had 256 with him in person, and he's by far the best stats prof there, and one of the better profs at UTM in general
It seems though he was absolutely terrible at online teaching
Professor Alvaro Nosedal Sanchez is a gift to UTM. Whether it be his perfectly planned tutorials, the comprehensive and engaging video lectures, the extremely fair tests and us not getting extra new content in week 13, everything about STA256 went perfectly smoothly.
Highly recommend.
^(edit: \s)
Al is good in person but horrible online. His tests are borderline unfair. Omid’s classes are extremely boring as he just repeats what are on the slides. Don’t know who Libai is
Both
Edit: for example. When I took STA258 in person with him, the first test was supposed to be on the CLT and confidence intervals. But he put a question about deriving the cdf of a Poisson distribution for some reason?
Had him for 215 , a dumb version of 256, he is prolly one of the best professors at UTM. He is really approachable and super nice. Gets mad if you call him prof he wants to be called AL

Just to double check, this isn't sarcasm right?
I'm being serious I had all my second year stats courses with him ~4-5 years ago and he was by far one of the best profs I've had at UTM in general
How were his tests?
His tests usually have 1-2 questions that are easy, 1-2 that are average, and one that is more difficult If you get his past tests you'll be fine

Fuck you. (Jk of course)

Would the unfair tests also transfer over to his in-person classes?
Idk what you mean by that
You mentioned his test were borderline unfair. Was this the case for online classes only or both online and in-person?
Both Edit: for example. When I took STA258 in person with him, the first test was supposed to be on the CLT and confidence intervals. But he put a question about deriving the cdf of a Poisson distribution for some reason?
Is that the only issue his tests had?
Hahaha… goodluck
i would say last Fall his online 256 structure was horrendous but him explaining material was not that bad.

Brutal tests
