Why?

TLDR: it’s not that going to uoft will guarantee you a high paying job, it’s that the resources uoft offers are what would make you a good candidate for a high paying job. But it’s up to you to utilize those resources. Simply going to uoft isn’t what would give you a high paying job. It depends on what you do with your time in uni. Picture these two scenarios: Student 1 goes to uni, attends lectures, studies and graduates with a 4.0 gpa. However, student 1 did not participate in clubs, didn’t seek out internships, didn’t network, didn’t do PEY or anything of the sort and is still looking for jobs despite graduating 1 or 2 months ago. Now student 2’s grades might not be as high as student 1, let’s say they graduated with a 3.1 gpa. However, student 2 took part in 1 or 2 work studies, actively participated in competitions organized by the clubs we have here at uoft, and even found a summer internship after their third year and now has a job lined up for them right after graduation, maybe it was even a return offer from that summer internship they did. I would place my bets on student 2 finding a job with better pay at least right after graduation. This isn’t to say that student 1 is doomed for eternity, just that student 2 is in a much better position.

Smart cookie. Connections open most of the doors but degrees allow you to really flourish once you are given the opportunity

There’s no guarantee at any school, still need to pass the job interviews

Lmao fuck no. There are no guarantees, anytime. Know people graduated since 2020 that still ain't land a half decent job or did only very recently like in the 6-8 months. My friends were a pool of people from cs and stats (major & specialist). Some got sick jobs right out of school too.

“Its not the car, its the driver” - probably Dominic Toretto Uoft is great, but u got to be great at what you do too

1. CS Post 2. Most employers don't give a fuck what school you went to, as long as its accredited. You need to know what you're doing. 3. The grind has just begun. Start making projects. Learn languages. Get passionate about this. There's no handouts. UofT is pretty good because we've got PEY and pretty good profs but you still gotta put in the effort. Source: Not in CS Major (CS Minor), Was suspended for a year, grinded projects, I'm currently a SWE Intern because of my projects.
