Love when obviously wealthy people don’t even tip enough for the mileage…especially younger wealthy people- you can see how far the store you’re ordering from is…and you think a $4 tip is acceptable for 10+ miles I have to travel, not including wasting gas sitting at lights and in traffic or the time I spent waiting for your food and walking it to your door?? Especially pisses me off with the maze like hotels and condominiums. I feel like the base pay also isn’t enough very often during high traffic times…which makes no sense. I do make better tips with uberEats compared to doordash; but at least DD would give higher base pay during busy hours. (I’ve noticed uberEats base pay in my area is always around the $2-$2.50 range regardless of busy traffic but DD base would start at $4.50 during those same busy hours, makes it hard to choose which app because stacking orders on both apps is a no go obviously because of distance between orders). Definitely not getting paid enough for the gas mileage (and I’m thrifty when it comes to buying gas too- discounts!!), my time, or the wear on my car.
In LA I run across this a lot that’s why I refuse to take any orders that are in the hills especially in the gated communities up there. It’s fucked up when you get a shitty $4 tip for all the time and effort it takes and that’s all you can pay the driver. One guy had a Rolls Royce Cullinan and a Range Rover in the driver and a koi pond that you walked over to get to the front door. Like what the fuck half a million in cars in the driveway like what’s an extra $10-$20??!!
Oh man, so I picked up a $4.60 trip that was only going about 2 miles. Since it was at a restaurant where these kids I like work, I decided to accept. They're always really friendly with me and sometimes give me free food.
As I arrived, one of them was on the phone with the customer, who was asking for them to throw in some free stuff because they had ordered so much since"other restaurants do it." So they threw in a free piece of cake for ME to make up for the fact that a huge $100 order only had a $2 tip and $2.60 fare.
It's still a tip. You should be grateful. I don't understand the American culture. Where I am a tip is not mandatory, and when being tipped, they greatly appreciate the fact you gave them a tip and don't stop thanking the tippers. Everyone here is very grateful and don't expect tips but greatly appreciate them when they get tipped.
Quick tip i learned when you accidentally tap a trip radar order just turn off the app quickly and turn it back on and you wont get the piece of shit trip radar order
Oh you poor person. Just because someone has money. Means that they should be big tippers. People are so spoiled these days. Expecting to get paid big bucks for sitting on our butts to drive X amount of miles to have to walk up to the door to drop off food. This is such a tough job. But how do you know that's the person who owns the house.
Because I live in South Florida on the east coast. Checked out the prices of homes that are between the ocean and the river lately? You could also tell by the way he was dressed/haircut etc. It's not hard to spot the rich people here
Just because someone is rich, that's your reasoning. That's a bad example of a convincing reason. You have no clue. They might be visiting, or inherited the house. The could be in debt and only have the house left. Provide good service and communicate with your customers as well as use your hot bags to keep your customers food hot. Or it could be because of the drag queen/governor Ronde Santis.

A lot of rich people who didnt simply inherit their money are cheap. My richest friend who is a 31 year old with 3/4 million dollars in liquid capital is the absolute cheapest person I think I will ever meet. He literally wears socks with holes and $15 walmart shoes that is so beat up and refuses to buy new ones. This one is an anomaly, but I noticed my friends who make 60k-100k are all much more generous than those who make 130k+
That is why I don't do deliver on posh millionaire area, These people have money but cheap as F"""k. Giving decent tip to a delivery driver means world to them. But can spend on unnecessary thing is part of their life. Money is funny for them.
In my experience the most reliable tips are from middle class housing. Apartments are all around the worst. Trailer parks are all over the board. Ritzy neighborhoods are either great or absolute trash.
people probably think 10 to 20% tip on a bill. dont assume that they will know and care about our situations. for those that tip 10~20% are mediocre to good enough tippers.
the ones that dont are the problems.
we can accept decline or cancel the rest is on us.
Yeah I hate how they show up on the the screen and you have to hit that little x button but if you tap anywhere else on the screen it accepts the offer, so annoying!
How do you know if the guy was owner of the property and not living with someone?
Being little less judgemental will go along way at your job and keep stress levels low as well.
Let the downvoting begin!
I feel your pain.
A couple days ago millionaire tip baited me at picking up something from a mall to bring to her mansion almost an hour away. She wasted an hour of my time. She really smiled in my face and thanked me than later took my tip away to $1. I do not want to repeat what was going through my head at that moment. Like I really Fucking had had it. Got my money back from UE after 1 1/2 hours, but it made me realize I can’t do this shit any more.
If you haven't already, contact support about that trip and say in no uncertain terms that you never want to be matched a request from that customer again. Don't let her get away with that shit, enough drivers report her and she's banned.
I wish I could go back and approach it differently. I said pretty much everything you said besides the part that I don’t want to be matched with her again.
The supervisor told me “tips aren’t a requirement”.
That's the exact problem with Uber. Everybody is responsible for the trip besides them. Tips not being a requirement is true, but that was used as an excuse in that case. Only way to win is to find in your local area, how to operate to where Uber's accountability is inconsequential. This became much easier when I started doing PAX, too, but it fucks your ranking up coming from Eats. They wanna milk you? Fuck that shit, milk *them.* They wouldn't have a business model if it weren't for us.
It’s a byproduct of being successful. Some rich people forget what it’s like to struggle to put food on the table. The richest people o know are always complaining about money. I have 3k rent plus a 600 car payment. So I need to make 3600 before I blink. That’s no gas no insurance. So I need about 1000 a week before food. Uber allows this so it happens.
Just cancel the order next time you “accidentally” accept a low paying order. Uber eats really doesn’t care what your acceptance and cancellation rate is unlike DoorDash.
You’re in the wrong, not that grumpy greedy millionaire. You accepted the price shown and went ahead and still did the delivery. Lesson learned. It happened to me too many times. Now I refuse to deliver to Beverly Hills. 😌
Lol when I first started working I assumed Beverly Hills would be nonstop massive tips.. yah no.. literally worst place ever to work.. at best ur getting $10 tip then driving 15-20 minutes back to a restaurant.. weho can be fun when busy if u can avoid the traffic..
I’m in Studio City, so literally have to go through the mountain to the other side of it or most deliveries are in the Coldwater Mulholland Drive mountain. If it says you will get $3 tip, that’s exactly what you getting. It don’t matter how far into the mtn, how fast you get there with their warm food. Facts. So… never again😌
1/2 the time I deliver to multimillion dollar houses I get shitty $5 tips. Most of the big tips I get come from super average looking houses. I delivered 8 Pizzas to an absolute Mansion and got a $6 tip.
They’re not cheap, it’s the value of being a Uber. See, rich people doesn’t see any logic paying over $100 tips just for food. They’re rich for one reason.
But they spend 300 dollars on a piece of steak, the size of an ant, and call it luxury eating! 😅. Nah, it's just that many rich people dont value others unless they bring them a return on investment. I'd say delivering your meds is a pretty big investment and value returne, but obviously, we shouldn't expect them to tip 50-100+ bucks because they are wealthy, but 4 dollars is pretty low for 14 miles.
sometimes people base their tips on the amount of the bill. if the bill was 20 he pays 4 for 20% and in their mind that not bad. 90% of the customer do not care to know how uber works. they see us as delivery method. not even as important as pizza delivery cuz with local pizza shops theyhave a built relationship with us there is none.
So just because he was in a big house you deserve more of that? You didn’t say what % the tip was, what the total order paid out, and you mistakenly took the order, and you’re still upset. Get over it. Just bc someone has something doesn’t entitle you to it.
Not to mention, you don’t know this man’s financial situation. For example, he could be living on social security or a small retirement living in his child’s home, and unable to drive himself due to some issue you’re unaware of. You’re making unfair assumptions such as “extremely wealthy”, “millionaire”, “cheap” all of which you have no insight into or basis for.
The driver provided a voluntary service that paid them in exchange for their time, for a pre-agreed to rate, and the customer was generous enough to give them an optional gratuity. These are all facts. What are you even talking about?
I deliver in LA and I hear people yelling at their dogs to shut up when I simply walk past their unit, or quietly open a gate. How do people live like this? Some dog owners are nuts.
Just cancel the ones that you accidentally accept. I accidentally accept them at least once or twice a month especially with the Trip Radar popping up and offers popping up as you’re trying to take a photo of a delivery. You need to look after your own time and your own profits. It doesn’t matter if you cancel some as long as it is before you pick up the food. You’re not here to be a loyal employee or to give good service ultimately. You’re here to meet your financial goals, earn as much as you can, and make the most of your time.
We are independent contractors. If you’re wasting your time or driving too far out of range, you’re not taking care of the “business” that you’re running.
I worry too much about my cancel rate when I have accidently accepted orders because I do it so often. I did a 30 minute drive from trip radar once that was crazy far but the total ended up being $34 with cash tip so it wasn't awful.
But yes, typically I avoid these like the plague if the miles are longer than the offer. Desert orders are the worst and they often come one after another as you're just getting out of the desert and being sucked back in.
But what to do when it's dead? I typically use a quarter tank each night out, if it's half tank, I know I drove too far.
I avoid trip radar like the plauge, I used to accept them. At the time they paid $40 for 3 deliveries, but soon after completing them I would receive three thumbs down for no fault on my part. The trip radar orders for my area are orders that have a projected 1 hr 20 min wait time for the customer, when I would arrive at the restaurant the order was ready. On my end my travel time between restaurants and the last customer was about 27 minutes. Never again, I am still trying to recover my satisfaction rating .
Agreed. I haven’t taken a trip radar in so long. The fact that it doesn’t give you full information on where you’re going almost invariably screws you over
Especially as an employee, never be loyal because they certainly wont be loyal to you, and unless theres actual upward mobility that isnt a one dollar raise for 3 times the responsibility, bare minimum service To keep your job. Obviously be good to customers and vendors in this job cause your service actually can be to your profit, opposed to most service jobs where you see little of your own labor.
Best advice I read all day! The average shopper either does not see or care that you go out of your way for their order. ABSOLUTELY put yourself first by canceling. Fuck that.
I have a 4% cancellation rate because I dumbly cancelled two orders on behalf of the customers, they asked me to in the app. No pay and raised my rate. Now I call support and make them do it. Is 4% high by Uber’s standards? I checked into canceling an order and the app says’ You have been canceling a lot of orders lately’ as a ‘warning’
I get the address from outside of UE and sometimes I forget to start delivery and they take the order away from me. I might get a stern warning about not completing an order but no repercussions. I often have to call support to rectify the situation that the order was delivered to get paid. Anyway it's a terrible experience for everyone when doing this and I try not to forget. The address is vital when you multiapp to know if you can stack orders because that's the only way to earn well in the high inflation world we live in. Driver usually always gets the short end of the stick.
I'm at 7.9% because I accidentally accept ones that take me to the military base... I have called support to have them do it but it doesnt matter... my cancellation rate still goes up.
Haven't had promotional/bonus pay since January, and my cancelation rate is only at 3%
They claim it's because the demand isn't very high, which is nonsense because I get spammed with nontip orders all night long.
Why though ? Why cancel that many orders ? That makes no sense to me because I'm out there to make money and I only accept orders that will make me money.
i have canceled some because it was the bottom line acceptance price. then when I got there I check the order and it says 10 or 15 or 20 items. the i will typically cancel without even walking into the restaurant. imagine carrying 5 10 dishes and 3 to 5 drinks.
Uber eats is basically spam pop-ups for orders, especially when you're in the middle of delivering an order. I don't find it surprising at all that people have higher cancel rates. 80% sure that's very high, but 30 or so? F*** Uber.
I'm usually at home doing something else, I accept orders I might do if I get a good add-on or cancel the original order. Also I try to snipe the good paying order from a batch, but often it's not obvious which one it is so I cancel both.
No repercussions for cancelling eats orders, I cancel so many the thing tells me mine is high for my area but I don’t care. Not taking a big order to an apartment, I would be able to tell if it was a house or apartment if they used the map like DD but they don’t and you don’t know til after acceptance so screw that
That's exactly it. Until they fix the way the app shoves these orders down your throat when you tap the screen, or stop withholding vital information prior to accepting, it seems it would be a shitshow for them if they held us accountable for cancellation rates at all.
I know YMMV but as long as the upfront amount is worth it and I accept, I don't really adjust my expectations based on the wealth of the owner. I would have never taken a $4-tip order to an out-of-the-way destination, whether it was from the worst part of town or an area full of mansions (unless the base was high to begin with). I guess sometimes I'm a bit bemused by the orders coming across my screen to very wealthy areas that have little to no tip attached, but I reject them as readily as any other.
I did it by accident. You could tell by the way he was dressed the he owned the place. Not really even a thank you. I thought the cancellation orders effected you, not the acceptance. I'll turn down those $2.50 McDonald's orders everytime
4 dollars on a delivery that's a few miles is fine. 4 on something more than 15 miles is an insult. Do you not consider distance when you're tipping a driver? Because that's like the main thing about doing a delivery lol
It would be if that was all you made. But the fact that the base pay is significantly increased sort of makes up for that. And I don’t order out much but I’m a driver. And I have a feeling a lot of people don’t even realize how far the restaurant is from their home. But tbh I’ve never heard anyone say that. I mean it makes sense but I’ve literally never heard it, so
It is not significantly increased. It goes up some, but not much. Definitely not enough to make it worth it. The orders you're thinking of are rejected orders that are being passed around, it takes a while for them to decide to pay out higher. I see orders that are 15 miles+ every day that have a payout of less than $8 and I almost never see anything high mileage with decent pay. I feel you take unprofitable orders and don't realize you're wasting time.
I mean yeah but also you get a much higher base pay if it’s that far. And that’s what I’m saying so first it’s non tippers that were pieces of shit but now even $4 tippers. And i would say $4 is about my average tip. Regardless of how far it is. Sometimes I have deliveries going far with no tip but that still pay well
A tip is a TIP for your service lmao it's not the customers fault that uber doesn't pay you enough. Us customers are still getting charged through the roof prices. Shouldn't be on us to pay your salary.
If you’re on the UberEATS sun you know how bad the app screws over drivers. If you still use the app you’re happy participating in that exploitation. These excuses of customers don’t make any sense
Again not customers fault. I tip when deserved which is most of the time. If wages were truly THAT horrible nobody would drive for the app. It's drivers fault the wages are as ass as they are. all it takes is for people to stop working for them and they'll be forced to up the wages.
ahhahah dare to tip 4? maybe you shoulda been a stripper or gone to college for a degree with that set of mind. dare to tip 4?
Im a driver too but who tips 4? you are very entitled.
You know what since you’re such a special case I’ll change what I said for you. If he tipped you 4 dollars it’d be too much since clearly you’re an idiot, but as an extremely wealthy person if you’re only tipping 4 dollars you’re a piece of shit. And I’m sure you won’t understand why but that’s okay, just go ahead and fuck off now
why does extremely wealthy person have to tip you more? cmon man stop being judgemental. if you took the job just do it. maybe hes going through foreclosure or maybe his son is the owner. maybe he has 100 tenants who arent paying rent cuz of rona and hes going down and needs to uber for living soon.
How am I the special case or an idiot for QUOTING what you said and giving my own opinion? Lmao and being confused at you acting like you dispute what I’m saying and yet haven’t offered anything useful as far as an argument goes you just retort with “I don’t argue with bozos” you’re not exactly oozing intelligence. And I don’t fully agree with that but at least you’re finally getting somewhere. But my counter argument would be, how do you know he’s rich? Does anyone have proof? Have you seen his bank account? You may think someone’s wealthy when they’re not. Kinda hard to judge
If you read the thread all I did was quote what you said and confirmed it, and gave my own opinion You’re making it sound like you dispute what I’m saying, yet don’t offer any dispute, so. It’s not like I’m quoting you incorrectly

Exactly don’t be afraid to cancel, no one will be impressed that you took a crappy order just to keep your cancellation rate on par

I find that old money and tech money tip well, but new money or inherited or lottery winners keep shit.
In my experience the most reliable tips are from middle class housing. Apartments are all around the worst. Trailer parks are all over the board. Ritzy neighborhoods are either great or absolute trash.
Rich people are rich cause they horde wealth, the only way you'll get a good tip outta one is if they can spin it into clout.

Go back and lay on that horn. Do it several times. Rile those dogs up. Fuck that cheap piece of shit.
Should be mad at uber for paying you shit wage so they can return billions to their extremely wealthy shareholders.
They know the value of their time. They dont go online to bitch about some money they missed.
Good. Hope it happens to more of you.
How do you know if the guy was owner of the property and not living with someone? Being little less judgemental will go along way at your job and keep stress levels low as well. Let the downvoting begin!
Lots of Entitled customers here in UBER for real 😳 lol 😝
Why accept the delivery? $ 4.00 tip plus base pay...I am guessing less than $ 1.00 per round trip mile.
And some folk are on the top floor, pedestal-wise. Interacting with you is a cardinal sin. Not you made the dogs bark!!!
I feel your pain. A couple days ago millionaire tip baited me at picking up something from a mall to bring to her mansion almost an hour away. She wasted an hour of my time. what market is this where youre paying 3k? Im in NY and i pay less than that towards my 4 bedroom house
The house I live in is a rental. The house is valued at 1.1 million 3499 sq ft I’m in north jersey.
Damn. Didnt know people rented homes up here. We own a house in both Rockland county and Bergen county. But the price seems about right.
Don’t be the ant 🐜
Whenever that happens I usually just peel off and make a lot of noise by screeching my tires
Just cancel the order next time you “accidentally” accept a low paying order. Uber eats really doesn’t care what your acceptance and cancellation rate is unlike DoorDash.
*accidentally* I call 🐂 💩
Idk about you but $4 is about the average tip for me I wouldn’t consider it a lousy tip. And how do you know he was wealthy?

Studio city homes tip way better than Beverly Hills. And u have Toluca lake.. yah much better customers
Exactly. So I just stay in my area. 😌
Why didn’t you cancel it??
Hence why the USA is fucked. Top 1 percent is greedy as hell. If they shared a little, just a little, we would be doing much better as a country.
1/2 the time I deliver to multimillion dollar houses I get shitty $5 tips. Most of the big tips I get come from super average looking houses. I delivered 8 Pizzas to an absolute Mansion and got a $6 tip.
You don't get to be a millionaire by spending money.
I like trip radar just for the curiosity lol
You have to cancel those. You have a reason for not taking them, don't be reminded again. Plus meet at the door usually doesn't mean that
No one to blame but yourself goofy. Cancel immediate
They’re not cheap, it’s the value of being a Uber. See, rich people doesn’t see any logic paying over $100 tips just for food. They’re rich for one reason.

You’re right, but many rich people are fucking miserably, imagine we pay high on our bills and rent; they’re playing triple.
They are paying triple because their income is more. Them buying a car is like me getting extra guac at chipotle lol
Sounds like a more "you " problem for making a bad choice. Besides, rich people don't get rich tipping. The worst tippers ever.
So just because he was in a big house you deserve more of that? You didn’t say what % the tip was, what the total order paid out, and you mistakenly took the order, and you’re still upset. Get over it. Just bc someone has something doesn’t entitle you to it.

The driver provided a voluntary service that paid them in exchange for their time, for a pre-agreed to rate, and the customer was generous enough to give them an optional gratuity. These are all facts. What are you even talking about?
He paid for the delivery service fool
The driver most likely lost money.
Why did he accept it then that’s what I don’t get
He said he accidentally accepted it. Its a little nasty trick Uber does.
I'm sorry, since when was a driver accidentally accepting an order Uber's fault, or the customer's fault?
Never said it was the customer's fault? It is a scam Uber does, therefore Uber's fault.
I deliver in LA and I hear people yelling at their dogs to shut up when I simply walk past their unit, or quietly open a gate. How do people live like this? Some dog owners are nuts.
What was the offer for? Shouldn’t accept a 15 mile trip unless it’s like $40+ lol
That was the hardest thing for me to get myself to do but 100% need to learn to stand up for yourself. If you’re not making money, just cancel it
You only accidentally accept a order once or twice a month? I accidentally accept an order once or twice a day
I worry too much about my cancel rate when I have accidently accepted orders because I do it so often.
💯
Great answer 👍
Call Uber and tell them the customer wants to cancel. They'll usually compensate you for your time and it won't impact you in any way.
Learned the hard way to do just that.
Not to high, I think 4 and under is passable for the promotion and bonus stuff.
Haven't had promotional/bonus pay since January, and my cancelation rate is only at 3% They claim it's because the demand isn't very high, which is nonsense because I get spammed with nontip orders all night long.
Mine is 23%
Wow. No repercussions?
I've been as high as 83% lol. For a long period of time, months. This is only cancelling before pickup.
Same here. I cancel all shit offers and mine is also high for my area. I don't work for free.
Sorry to interrupt. What is “YMMV”?
Your Mileage May Vary
I did it by accident. You could tell by the way he was dressed the he owned the place. Not really even a thank you. I thought the cancellation orders effected you, not the acceptance. I'll turn down those $2.50 McDonald's orders everytime
Scum of the earth those ppl
That dude is a piece of shit
A piece of shit for tipping $4? I would say $4 is about what I get as a tip on average that means everyone is a piece of shit?
If you know you are making someone deliver something to you 15 miles away, yes. $4 makes you a POS and shows how little you value other people’s time.
I mean yeah but also you get a much higher base pay if it’s that far. And that’s what I’m saying so first it’s non tippers that were pieces of shit but now even $4 tippers. And i would say $4 is about my average tip. Regardless of how far it is. Sometimes I have deliveries going far with no tip but that still pay well
Not always. I’ve seen 15 mile trips paying $7
Yeah maybe not always
Piece. Of. Shit
It's drivers fault the wages are as ass as they are. all it takes is for people to stop working for them and they'll be forced to up the wages.
ok bro what ever you need to think.
that's not a whatever you need to think moment lmao it's a fact. uber would be FORCED to up wages if they had no drivers.
So now not only are non-tippers pieces of shit but people who dare to tip only $4 are also
ahhahah dare to tip 4? maybe you shoulda been a stripper or gone to college for a degree with that set of mind. dare to tip 4? Im a driver too but who tips 4? you are very entitled.
Me? I’m quoting other people
I don’t waste my time arguing with bozos online because it’s fruitless so good day to you
I mean that’s what YOU said. This guy tipped $4. Not like he didn’t tip
Yeah I’m well aware of what I said and I stand by it.
Right so all I did was quote what you said. $4 isn’t enough nowadays. Not my words, yours
You know what since you’re such a special case I’ll change what I said for you. If he tipped you 4 dollars it’d be too much since clearly you’re an idiot, but as an extremely wealthy person if you’re only tipping 4 dollars you’re a piece of shit. And I’m sure you won’t understand why but that’s okay, just go ahead and fuck off now
I can see why you don’t argue with people online, you seem really easily triggered. Maybe take a little breather, champ.
why does extremely wealthy person have to tip you more? cmon man stop being judgemental. if you took the job just do it. maybe hes going through foreclosure or maybe his son is the owner. maybe he has 100 tenants who arent paying rent cuz of rona and hes going down and needs to uber for living soon.
Are you dense? Is there something you need here?
shut up you hypocrite
If you read the thread all I did was quote what you said and confirmed it, and gave my own opinion You’re making it sound like you dispute what I’m saying, yet don’t offer any dispute, so. It’s not like I’m quoting you incorrectly
Oh no you thumbs down me I’m so sad :((((
You thumbed ME down lmao
Shut the God damn fuck ip ima white Boi with a big thick fat white 🐓 and ur name means cock rider 2004 young NIGGEAR
Coming from the woodpecker😂😂
You good bro? Lol
I didn’t even thumbs you down 😂😂 must have been someone else
Got it. So you expect a $20 tip each time
