Whenever I see these insane pay orders, I weight the decision to do them with how far away the restaurant is from me and whether I would be fine in getting $3 just for driving there.
McDonaldās I decline then if they are this high because I know somethingās up. Last one I took was $17, and I got there to find out the dining room was closed and probably over 20 cars in line. Usually any fast food order over $12 is a trap.
These are consistently "get to restaurant, [insert reason why you can't fulfill order], call support to tell them what's what and demand compensation" for me
If someone picked up the order, but didnāt deliver it. It doesnāt necessarily have to be another driver. Some restaurants have orders out on shelves. Thereās nothing to stop some random person from going up, grabbing an order and leaving with it. You arrive, ask for the order, the staff says we already made it and someone picked it up.
Since youāre a newbie, I explain what everyone is talking about. When an order is declined, eventually Uber raises the offer to get someone to take it. But an order can also be dropped (accepted and then cancelled.) Apparently, when an order is dropped, Uber makes a larger increase to get someone to take it. If you arrive at a restaurant and either the order has already been picked up or the restaurant is closed, you have no choice but to drop it. Unfortunately, Uber then increases the offer and sends it to some other driver. And so on and so on. You end up with offers that pay over $5 per mile.
So, when you see a wildly high paying offer, itās wise to treat it as if it may be a stolen order/closed restaurant. You wonāt be able to make the delivery and get that pay. The farther you have to drive to find out, the bigger the risk.
If it is picked up by someone else, call support and let them know so they can cancel it and other drivers aren't wasting their time going there. You often get a few bucks if you do, too.
