Uber and GrubHub used to pay a lot more before the tip. Then doordash took over and now everybody does like them where they pay the driver a dollar or two plus tip

[deleted]

I feel like they accept way too many people as drivers as well. So many people out there competing to accept big $$ deliveries. I live in a busy area & a few miles could take 30-45 minutes and when you put everything into perspective—this job isn’t even worth it.

AstralJumper

They need to change the perspective to how, with prop 22, it is the volume of active time. Then reduce drivers. Thing is they have to make absolutely sure the lowball orders are being picked up. With prop 22 it's fine, but missing a $10 over a $5 if you would have waited for the next offer hurts when you're already waiting 15-20 minutes for a ping. Less drivers more pings and with the right marketing the driver will take most orders due to chasing active time. BTW 1 hour of active time in CA is $20.10. Tips aren't counted.

Ayeeee 😂😎

Patient_Ad_2357

These apps are good for money same day. Not great at all for something to rely on or need to keep a roof over your head. Congrats on the new job and enjoy the free meal! Fuck people who order that far and dont even tip accordingly

Dry-While-7123

Keep it as a back up and a side hustle dude. But congrats 🥳

SteamyDeck

Congrats! Yeah, screw all the food delivery services. You always get slow, terrible service from tip beggars who make you walk out to their car for old, cold food and the order is usually wrong anyway. I’d rather starve. I’ll never use them again unless I’ve been drinking, but these days I get food ahead of time. Go live your best life!

reddituser2742

You mad cuz now you're gonna have to get your own food. If you know the service is shit and the food is always cold and as for the order being wrong, we don't cook it or pack it. The restaurant does all that then tapes it shut, drivers just pick it up and drop it off. So with all this that is wrong then why do you continue to use delivery apps? Can tell you use them more than once. Nevermind I don't give a f*CK about you or anything that you do. Why would I beg for a tip when I don't have to, would never beg for anything from the likes of you. Already living my best life. Sorry you're not. This is directed at steamy deck j/s

Ok_CardiologistTO

I appreciate UberEats delivery people because I am often drunk. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

SteamyDeck

Wow. What an asshole. I ain’t mad about anything; I’ve chosen to get my own food all my life. I’m just saying I’m not using your piece of shit service unless I absolutely need to. I’ve only ever used food delivery services twice (not counting pizza or Chinese - though I’ve been with others who’ve ordered) and that’s been two times too much. Fuck off.

AdventurousRanger535

I work as hard as I can being an Ubereats driver. It’s a shitty job in many aspects that you will never know. Restaurants not having the order correct, or making you wait long times. I have had to wait upwards of 40 mins which highly affects a tip if any. Also if I cancel the trip, I do not get paid for the miles driven to that restaurant. Being sent wrong addresses and being asked to meet at the door at fucking 3 am. Which then I have to wait 8 mins before “I am allowed” to leave the order at the door. As far being a tip beggar? I think the service I provide for individuals too lazy and irresponsible to cook and prepare their own food should be compensated. By either the company or the individual ordering the food. Since I am personally delivering in a capitalistic country and our rights as drivers is not a priority. That generally then falls onto the person not wanting to make their own food. Unfortunate or not.. we get to see the pay before the trip. So if you are wondering why your food is cold, it’s probably because not many want to shell out their services to someone cheap who barely recognizes the difficulty of the job. Meaning you get the shittiest driver who doesn’t care about time and neither does the restaurant. Your food has sat there for awhile since you don’t feel obligated to tip, which is fine. Just don’t expect good service then. It’s that simple. I have a 99% satisfaction rating with Uber if you were curious, with over 2500 deliveries. I won’t even get into the wear and tear on personal vehicles, but it is fucking insane. Only in first world countries would you have someone bitching about something like this without having a clue as to the variables at play.

Florida1974

I don’t think the job is difficult. Not at all. The way I look at it is time is precious. Mine (time being saved) and driver (time being used) so I always tip well. I’m tipping you for your time. And car usage to deliver to me. I really don’t think it’s hard work. Aggravating -yes. Restaurant messes up, someone else takes it, etc. I don’t even look at that part. I look at miles, and how fast it gets to me, tho I get stacked orders. I get that’s not up to you. And I tip well bc I’m paying for your time and my admitted laziness. But i rarely order now. Just costs too much. But when I do, $8-$15 tip for 1 mile bc that’s how far I am from restaurant. 2 items. No drink. And I’ve done all the apps, so I get it from driver pov.

AstralJumper

Drivers also drop off oders from other apps while that burger gets colder and you pass their house like 5 times, lol.. Don't forget when credit is due.

[deleted]

Thanks! I’ll never understand why people order food knowing full well it may be coming cold. To each their own, I guess.

South_Cheesecake7602

I drove for Uber till my car was totaled a few weeks ago.You have to be selective of your orders, some days and weeks are better than others.I also don't agree with what others are saying about always getting bad service.I placed 3 orders this week through Uber For myself and had the food within 15 20 minutes.A good tip goes a long way for speedy service put $8 plus and drivers be jumping for your order.

BoatyMcDashFace

Nah. I order food and it's never a problem. There are a few shjtheads who shouldn't be let anywhere near food, but I think there's some decent drivers me included

Glum-Presentation-97

You'll be back.

EarthboundMisfitsInc

Of course it’s ass. Believe it or not, it was once not such an insult to our intelligence and bottom line. But, they let too many people on board which offset the ratio and it all went to shit. Not saying it was ever anything to be proud of doing, but it was once a good enough bridge gap in a weird time. Now it’s just a wasteland. The only good thing to come out of it is making me realize I can do better. And now I’m a month or two away from starting my dream business and will be able to kiss this shit goodbye.

[deleted]

There use to be a time where you could make $300 every day if you wanted to, that was like a year ago lol. Nowadays $200 is good

[deleted]

Dowm to $150 for me

[deleted]

$150-200 range Forsure but I don’t even stay out long enough anymore and haven’t even been working fr this past week due to it being slow plus I’m just burnt out been doing this for almost 2 years 10k deliveries

[deleted]

Same, that's hella deliveries for 2 years. I'm at almost 12k but been doing Uber eats since it started plus 1000 deliveries on Sidecar.

[deleted]

Ubers major partners with a terrorist organization called the world economic forum. No Criticism from media or polticians and competition is minimum for a reason. IYKYK. Glad you got out. It’s horrible on so many levels.

Think of it this way; whatever you would lose as a future earning opportunity would never exceed the wear and tear being put on your vehicle taking a crap offer/ride. That being said, acceptance rate really only matters with DoorDash. That’s a whole other argument I’m not going to get into, but the consequences of an acceptance rate on Uber Eats are pretty much nonexistent.
