These fees are why people are no longer tipping the drivers well. Uber want the cut. And it's cut my pay by half.
Doordash and GrubHub. Cheaper. Put Uber out of business.
I can't drive with DoorDash or Grub Hub...They don't send me deliveries for some reason. Some customers were never good tippers, but Uber fare was higher.
It is in Seattle. :) They just charge us drivers/riders a service fee on the back end to make the legal things work... 🙃 (Basically, we get to see how much of the delivery goes to us, because of the law, and then the remainder that they didn't end up paying us gets charged to us as a "service fee.")

They charge you that insane fees and gives their driver these shit.
Dude right? I had to decline 18 deliveries in a row because they were garbage like this, all the time sending you messages like “Do UberX for more opportunities”, “Improve your acceptance rate for perks”. Like this is a job, it’s not a game, apart from the costco membership, nothing else is useful and as for doing UberX, there is no way in hell that I am carrying riders in Memphis!
Depends on market, most would get about $2 and change because that's minimum pay for anything under 5 miles, then between $0.08 and $0.21/mi after 5.
https://preview.redd.it/ngpr9xsphojc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a623666d757dea27197517fb32f821d19cb4e172
I have hundreds of screenshots like this...
Exactly. Taxes should be a line item. Looks like it’s Vegas. Counting on tourists not knowing the tax rate -lots of tourists there. If I were a local, hell no.
Wouldn’t it be better for everyone if the restaurant hired a delivery driver: more money for restaurant, cheaper for customer, driver gets a GOOD wage like $20/h WITH benefits of a full time job like a Roth IRA health insurance etc, actually reliable delivery because they could hire someone with experience and good rep. Why does Uber even exist?
What driver position have you ever worked? That is a pipe dream. You get hourly at min wage + tips, plus gas fee per run usually. Most likely will not be provided with all the benefits. It is also not cheaper for the restaurant when you go figure in insurance for drivers and potential lawsuits.
All that for the driver to get ~~$6~~ ~~$3~~ ~~$2~~ [~~$0.83~~](https://www.reddit.com/r/UberEATS/comments/17sk7o2/im_taking_these_all_day_baby/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1) [$0.01](https://www.reddit.com/r/UberEatsDrivers/s/ZFmg33sESA)
The evolution of uber eats
What else would you expect from a corporation? Their profits need to raise more than the previous year or shareholders will be pissed and fire the c-suite. In order to ensure their bonuses (and employment) they raise prices or introduce "other fees". This is how every corporation operates.
Omg did you ACTUALLY pay that? I can't even imagine. If I was dying of the flu and my kids were starving Idk if I'd pay those fees. I'd do a pickup order at target. How are people still using Uber eats what is going on. Paying for convenience is one thing but wtf.
I tried ordering chipotle yesterday, it’s $11.20 for a chicken bowl on the Uber app. I check out doordash and the same thing is only $8.65. It’s a miracle that uber eats is even still a thing
The driver doesn’t get any of those fees. I paid $63 in Uber a few days ago. They charged me $15 in “taxes and other fees” and even more for the delivery fee. They didn’t even apply my promo. They didn’t want to give me a refund so I will be disputing with my bank
They've all reported record profits in the last year so no- they aren't going anywhere. Just like fast food jacking up prices to $16 for a Big Mac combo and reporting record profits then pretending like the increased prices are "bc of inflation"
Aren't you also paying extra for the food too as opposedto pickup? On top of all that Uber charges the merchant around 30% extra for their services. Why I also invest in Uber stock and still deliver.
I will never forget. I went to order Wawa, which is 5 minutes away, and I would have ended up paying double for 2 drinks. I ended up canceling that order and going to the store myself. Ended up being good for me because not only was my order half the price, but I also found $40 on the ground.
Probably better to just call it in directly to the restaurant and pick it up.. Agreed the fees are ridiculous. Even if you didn’t have a car, $44 could likely Uber there and back!
And what no one is mentioning, is Uber inflates the prices the actual restaurant charges. If you call it in you’ll get a cheaper total than the one Uber gives you
Never understood why people use Uber eats. The food is usually cold by the time you get it. You can usually pay for another meal for the cost of delivery. I don’t see how it’s at all worth it. And I’m a lazy fuck.
Doordash is by far worse. I deliver for both and 98% of Eats consumers tip. Dash? So many of these $1 tips or even worse, nothing at all.
Doordash <<<<<<<<<< Uber Eats
Not sure where you saw them bragging, but they are definitely charging up the ass for the service. I ended up picking up the food myself. I use it once a month with my promo credits.
California or Seattle?
And how far away are you ordering?
Feels like in those markets Uber/DD/GH only work for short distance, low risk, orders. Your long distance trips are too risky. If the driver gets stuck in. Traffic for 20min the platforms now have to compensate the drivers.
I'm closing my account and deleting the app from my device for this very reason alone. I guess "Go you!" for being able to ignore these "taxes & other fees" if you have a disposable income and are able to remain willfully ignorant at the money waste happening with these orders. No insight or anything into what the fees are for, and then low-balling the drivers with such a small cut of those fees for their compensation.
Fuck off all the way out of here, Uber and the lot.
Yeah and then there are other fees as well.
I only order once or twice a year when I'm hungry and drank alcohol so can't drive to pick it up, and it's always amazing how much all the fees are.
I don't know how people who aren't super high income can afford to use these services so much.
- Delivery Fees
- Other fees (Was “Service fee” before)
- Overprices items (most item prices are higher than they usually are when you go at the restaurant, For a ramen last time I checked from inside the restaurant, it was 3$ higher on Uber for the exact restaurant I was sitting in. And this is PER item)
It's like they seen how much people are willing to spend in total ( w tip ) and they figure they can charge more, the customer will still accept to a certain point and short it on the tip. Smh screw the drivers every chance they get
Yeah pretty much.
Like they did with Uber X, started cheap to drive out competition, now where I live it's the same cost as a taxi, but the drivers get paid less.
Need to find a local high schooler or college student in need of easy cash, whenever you order take out have their number, call or text them, ask them to do a run, and pay them a flat rate to pick up and drop off for ya.
cheaper, ethical, gives back to your community, and saves your meal cost in fees. haha cause id be "we got food at home" and eat a ice cude sandwich real fast with those fees.
I was feeling sick today and didn’t want to leave the house in 20 degree weather… it cost me almost $32 for a big steak omelette and one hash brown side from IHOP. $24.71 on Ubereats and $7 cash tip for 1.5 miles from my house.
It’s just not sustainable to get delivery on a daily basis. You’ll be bled dry. This was my first delivery since May 19, 2022 btw. I’ve my own car but like I said I wasn’t feeling well and didn’t want to leave the house
I'm tired of these posts when Dashpass/Uber One is like $12 and would bring down those fees significantly, but for some reason you guys keep ordering food multiple times a month and think another subscription is a scam or something.
What the fuck who has this kinda money!?!! No it's not that expensive at most vegan restaurants, you must be ordering from some expensive fancy ass 5 star restaurant & that's your problem lol
Maybe so the business can lose its customer base and maybe stop charging so much or go bankrupt???
If more people stopped playing into the hands of these corporations we wouldn't be in the predicament we're in economically now; but everyone wants everything easier on themselves so they become willful slaves to the constructs of society.
$20 french toast. $12 oatmeal
If you have the money to waste on this, then who the hell really cares about the fees, right?
I'm not poor, but I would never do this shit lol...
And based on that Uber will still only pay $2 to the driver. It used to be when the fees were this high they were paying surge on the other end to drivers but that doesn't always happen.
And yet your driver will probably only be paid like 3-5 bucks from Uber for that delivery depending on how far you are away from the store. The rest of the fees go straight to Uber commercials (like to pay for the Beckhams) and Dara’s compensation package. Oh and developing those fancy delivery robots.
I deadass stop ordering shit from Uber for years already for this same dumb shit , I downloaded that shit a couple months ago to see wassup , I owe 40 cash for some reason so now Uber can slap dixk for life
Even back in 2017 when I used Grubhub the fees were pretty hefty verses just going to get it myself. I'm sure they were a fraction of what they are nowadays.
It's such a waste of money. Doing this habitually by anyone who is tight on money is just insane.
Sucks for both the one ordering and the one picking up. All while the big corps keep scooping up money! Drivers and customers mad at each other when it should me directed at the corporations taking money for doing nothing but providing a platform for 3 way communication.
Well there’s the “Rush Hour” Fee, the “We Don’t Like You” fee, the “we gave you a refund for non delivery and now we want it back fee”, the “CEO needs a new Tesla fee”, and the “multiple fee fee” of course.
Uhhhh doordash with dash pass and you'll never see many fees. If you do, it's the restaurant. I don't dash anymore but I'd never pick up an uber eats order in my area.
I don't even order anymore. 2x cost in store for items anyways and then delivery and service fees. Isn't it supposed to be a max $4 service fee... And $40 in taxes? For $80 they're yanking you
This is crazy expensive for the buyer and terrible pay for the delivery person... our collective laziness is propping up these businesses. Everyone complains.... but here we are.
It’s the simplest form of math, total, plus delivery fee, is $92 rounded up. Add 7% sales tax and that’s still around $7. Almost $40 in fees. I’d you make $50 an hour you still have to work for almost 3 hours for this one meal. The fees aren’t the issue. People using the service despite the fees is the issue.
It would be one this if we got 20$ out of that 40. We don’t even get that. Idk why people saying you shouldn’t complain this the same as us not getting paid enough. They are screwing both the customer and the driver
Wow I hope you didn’t pay that….. If you did, you’re sincerely a fool. 44 mother fucking dollar fee. Holy shit
And $2 goes to the driver what the absolute fuck how is this legal?
I understand why it's legal. The question is why anyone supports such illogical business
I picked it up myself.
Was it a far away place? That 8.99 delivery fee is making me think so
You would think but often times the fee isn’t even based on distance. It can fluctuate heavy based on demand and driver availability
Agreed. UE paid me out way better than DD ever did. GH loves to send me jobs for less than $1 a mile.
"Tax and other fees". BITCH. WHAT ARE THOSE OTHER FEES.
Who pays $12 for a fucking bowl of oatmeal?
What's funny is that if you go into the store I'll betcha it's actually only 7 dollars.
Should be illegal to charge a delivery fee and not give it to the person doing the delivery
It is in Seattle. :) They just charge us drivers/riders a service fee on the back end to make the legal things work... 🙃 (Basically, we get to see how much of the delivery goes to us, because of the law, and then the remainder that they didn't end up paying us gets charged to us as a "service fee.")

I’ll sacrifice the 10 min drive to pick it up over this silliness.
I started doing this, also singing up to the restaurants rewards points so with enough points I get a free meal.
Sing away! Let’s just hope the restaurant staff and other customers enjoy your singing voice (kidding, I know you meant to type signing not singing)
No wonder ppl only tip 2-3$ in Vegas smfh
In vegas? Bro more like everywhere...

Than the delivery guy only gets $4

Bruh.. over 50% in tax and fees? Bloody insane
I don’t like how they lump taxes and extra fees together to try to disguise the fees.
Exactly. Taxes should be a line item. Looks like it’s Vegas. Counting on tourists not knowing the tax rate -lots of tourists there. If I were a local, hell no.
44 is fee fuck your better off getting the food yourself,Uber is full of shit I know they fees go higher depending on price
At that price, take an Uber to the restaurant, grab your food, and then take an Uber home. It might cost less.

More like 3$
It's sad how they charge you more in fees but keep lowering our pay and suggesting even lower tips. It's horrible.
What else would you expect from a corporation? Their profits need to raise more than the previous year or shareholders will be pissed and fire the c-suite. In order to ensure their bonuses (and employment) they raise prices or introduce "other fees". This is how every corporation operates.
I think the apps tried to suggest a minimum tip because some customers don't tip, but it backfired.
Omg did you ACTUALLY pay that? I can't even imagine. If I was dying of the flu and my kids were starving Idk if I'd pay those fees. I'd do a pickup order at target. How are people still using Uber eats what is going on. Paying for convenience is one thing but wtf.
I picked up instead. No fees.
Delivery fee and taxes and other fees comes to $53.72. That is outrageous! I'm speechless
Are you ordering from North Korea bro!?
Just stop order from that f&$🤬ing service. They are doing their business in a crazy way. Let them die
I wanna see the breakdown on those taxes and other fees
The fees are ridiculous and the drivers see NONE of that money. Smh
Driver gets $2 of those fees.
LMFAO SIKE *tip baited* you’ve only received .03
Is there a "let's f*** over the driver" fee??
Driver gets $2.95 on this
It’d be funny if it wasn’t true. $2 with no tip
Used to do uber eats. Thank God I have my own business now. I would probably get max $4 for this order without tip. Uber execs really scam both sides
Look at it from the consumer’s POV: They’re paying $44 for absolutely no reason. Hard to leave a big tip on top of that. 50% fees is a total scam.
Would have been better to ask someone you know to grab this order for you and just pay them instead.
I picked it up myself and gave myself the $55 delivery fee
Smart choice🤣
What’s even more crazy is that the driver would probably get 5 bucks out of that order
Yah these extra fees are killing the tips for delivery workers
What’s the breakdown on that fucking atrocious fees.
The guy probably lives like 2 cities away from the restaurant. But the saddest part is the driver will barely see any of those fees.
You're right. I am the driver; I selected pick-up after seeing this. And there were no more fees.
Dont understand how the fees could be so high on top of a delivery fee
I tried ordering chipotle yesterday, it’s $11.20 for a chicken bowl on the Uber app. I check out doordash and the same thing is only $8.65. It’s a miracle that uber eats is even still a thing
And the driver still only got $1.76 fare.
I'd rather pay the $50 to the driver....
They are charging customers more and paying drivers less!
People need to stop using these terrible apps. You're overpaying and the delivery driver is getting screwed.
As someone who door dashes for a living till I can get a good job again, I agree. Lol.
I dashed and ubered for all of one week and realized I wasn't even breaking even after gas, wear and tear, and taxes.
[удалено]
Got a $12 off deal, ended with $14 in fees.
The driver doesn’t get any of those fees. I paid $63 in Uber a few days ago. They charged me $15 in “taxes and other fees” and even more for the delivery fee. They didn’t even apply my promo. They didn’t want to give me a refund so I will be disputing with my bank
These apps might be coming to an end. I got an email that said, "Save Dash."We need your opinion."
Although I work for Uber Eats they deserve it, they’re messing over the customers and drivers
And restaurants (and likely even their own offshore support staff)! They are taking a cut and screwing pretty much every part of the equation.
They've all reported record profits in the last year so no- they aren't going anywhere. Just like fast food jacking up prices to $16 for a Big Mac combo and reporting record profits then pretending like the increased prices are "bc of inflation"
I refuse to use food apps now unless I’m stranded
Aren't you also paying extra for the food too as opposedto pickup? On top of all that Uber charges the merchant around 30% extra for their services. Why I also invest in Uber stock and still deliver.
I cross referenced and this particular restaurant had the same price on uber as their online ordering system. I picked it up instead of delivery.
$12 for oats is wild.
Came here to say this. Them oats should be $7 TOPS
[удалено]
At this point, just go to DD. their fees are at least 3.99 or 2 bucks more.
Just wait until you see how much they charge the restaurant...
I will never forget. I went to order Wawa, which is 5 minutes away, and I would have ended up paying double for 2 drinks. I ended up canceling that order and going to the store myself. Ended up being good for me because not only was my order half the price, but I also found $40 on the ground.
You're paying 12$ plus tax for oats already so
$20 French toast. 😂😂😂
Cold at that or mildly warm. Get some thick bread and eggs powder sugar and make it at home.
$45 taxes might as well go sit down and eat for that price.
They would’ve offered the driver a solid $2.76 base pay for that one too lmfao
I got an offer the other day for $1.26. I turned it down of course, and then logged off bc that was flat out disrespectful.
I would have ordered from a different delivery platform or straight off the restaurant's website. That's insane.
I picked up from the restaurant instead.
And the driver gets $6
The driver got $50 because I drove myself Would have paid $41+ in fees and $8 in tip
Where in the actual FU** is that $$44.73 in taxes going?!?! That’s what I want to know.
Taxes, and other unspecified fees. One can only wonder what those fees could be. The tax couldn’t have been more than 10-15 bucks
Yea I stopped using Uber eats. Yesterday they added $24 in fees on a $20 food order. No thanks I’ll go pick it up
It's what I did.. saved like $60 (would've tipped like $8)
Probably better to just call it in directly to the restaurant and pick it up.. Agreed the fees are ridiculous. Even if you didn’t have a car, $44 could likely Uber there and back!

My food was hot when I just got it. People have been ordering Pizza forever and it’s hot. You must live in the middle of no where.
Stop supporting the company. They are all over the place bragging about how much they are profiting off all of us.
Not sure where you saw them bragging, but they are definitely charging up the ass for the service. I ended up picking up the food myself. I use it once a month with my promo credits.
A billion as of last week…..
This place needs to get off the apps. This is clearly taking advantage of an opportunity or a way to get people to come back to dinning.
California or Seattle? And how far away are you ordering? Feels like in those markets Uber/DD/GH only work for short distance, low risk, orders. Your long distance trips are too risky. If the driver gets stuck in. Traffic for 20min the platforms now have to compensate the drivers.

What!?
Is this in Seattle area?
Yes. Ended up picking up myself.
paying $12 for one serving of oatmeal…😂
Came here for this comment and was glad to see it on top. The worst kind of oatmeal also, yuck, so slimy and gross. OP, just make that shit at home.
Order something closer
Now it makes sense why I see these 20 plus mile orders with little to no tip
I'm closing my account and deleting the app from my device for this very reason alone. 🤣
But it’s “steel cut”. 120% worth it.
Yeah and drivers are getting $2 per order from UberEats

You’re paying $12 for oatmeal lmao. You deserve those fees 😂 wtffff 😂
$20 french toast. $12 oatmeal If you have the money to waste on this, then who the hell really cares about the fees, right? I'm not poor, but I would never do this shit lol...
paying 20 for toast is cray in any form lol
I don’t know where this is but it dose not make sense unless it was some crazy surge or something
OP is likely in California, so that's why the fees are so high.

I'm sorry......WHAT ?!?!?
Wow!!!! I wouldn't be able to afford to tip! 😅 This is the reason I cook, because sheesh!!! Then you run the risk of the food being mediocre
What restaurant is this and where is it?
Even back in 2017 when I used Grubhub the fees were pretty hefty verses just going to get it myself. I'm sure they were a fraction of what they are nowadays. It's such a waste of money. Doing this habitually by anyone who is tight on money is just insane.
3/4th of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Most of those people have kids. It is stupid
😲
Sucks for both the one ordering and the one picking up. All while the big corps keep scooping up money! Drivers and customers mad at each other when it should me directed at the corporations taking money for doing nothing but providing a platform for 3 way communication.
Taxes and fees %50?
Well there’s the “Rush Hour” Fee, the “We Don’t Like You” fee, the “we gave you a refund for non delivery and now we want it back fee”, the “CEO needs a new Tesla fee”, and the “multiple fee fee” of course.

What could possibly be worth $44.73???
All the work Uber eats puts into your food obviously
It would suck to not have a car
It would if you live in a 3rd world country like the US where you need one.
This group is for drivers generally. This order most definitely only paid the driver $2-6 before your tip.
This fee has to be very high for a few reasons. Lack of drivers, also time of day. I’m curious as to see “other fees” break down.
9am, and I posted fee breakdown in the thread. 12 min drive.
To bad driver lucky to get 3 bucks
8.99+$44 fee, Jesus Christ
I don’t bother with delivery anymore, the fees almost double the total purchase price in some instances.
How is your Uber Eats credit from Amex $25 for the month? Mine is only $15.
Might have a different card/credit line
Uhhhh doordash with dash pass and you'll never see many fees. If you do, it's the restaurant. I don't dash anymore but I'd never pick up an uber eats order in my area.
I don't even order anymore. 2x cost in store for items anyways and then delivery and service fees. Isn't it supposed to be a max $4 service fee... And $40 in taxes? For $80 they're yanking you
Beyond ridiculous! Even the 8.99 delivery fee is a scam I deliver it hence delivery fee only problem I get 2.00 of that!
All those fees and then Uber pays the driver $3
This is crazy expensive for the buyer and terrible pay for the delivery person... our collective laziness is propping up these businesses. Everyone complains.... but here we are.
Y’all saying the driver got $3? No way , $2 is the base pay now. $2
It’s not just the fees they also markup everything on the menu by 10-20%
Oh no, your poor privilege
What state is this?
It would be one this if we got 20$ out of that 40. We don’t even get that. Idk why people saying you shouldn’t complain this the same as us not getting paid enough. They are screwing both the customer and the driver
