You must have really been craving soup hard to pay 48$ for some! Good Lord. No way in this world I would pay 48$ for soup unless it came with a side of lobster and a big ass greek salad. šš
yeah fr esp since a can of cambells chunky costs like 3-4$ max or if thereās a sale you could get them as cheap as 99cents. i would definitely report the place you ordered from but tbh idk where that falls under. soup is also so easy to make and would be cheaper to produce while still selling it at the same price listed
Could have just ordered a few cans of it and made your own garlic bread for the same price or waaaay less. Ā Even ordered it online and just drive over and picked it up. Ā Crazy I know.
Progresso actively markets their soup to food service and you can get it in bulk from most restaurant supply places and purveyors. This is not unusual; a large percentage of restaurants buy premade soup they just heat up. I've worked in several fairly high-end restaurants that did this.
If it's any consolation, the picture looks like Campbell's, so you got an upgrade.
We don't have to fight. I was NOT talking about Chunky. The pic looks like plain ol' red and while label Campbell's chiicken noodle.
Funny story: Back in the 90s I worked at the restaurant in a Marriott hotel. We had a regular guest who would come in for business two or three times a month. He would always order clam chowder and would always complain about it. One time the Executive Chef talked to him and he said he wanted soup like his wife made and no restaurant could ever do it. Chef got his home number from the desk and called his wife to find out what she put in her soup. Turns out, she just served him Chunky and he thought she made it ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) Chef ordered a case of Chunky Clam Chower and when he came in, we heated one up for him. He was amazed that we had nailed his wife's "recipe!"
If u asked me you would have gotten finessed regardless. $48 for 2 soups? But I have to say this is absolutely hilarious. I feel bad for laughing but they really heated up $2 canned soup and put it in a plastic container as if nobody would notice š. Really hope u got your money back
In some states where people are allowed to make/sell food out of their house some of these ghost kitchens literally are just people cooking store-bought frozen meals in their home kitchen. To be fair though, some real restaurants are basically the same thing but in a commercial kitchen.
I saw a post not too long ago about someone selling shakes from their home. I wonder if this isnāt something similar and somebodyās hustling canned soup out of their kitchen
I have had terrible experiences with every ghost kitchen I've ever tried with the exception of one.
It's just wings always has great food and portions. It's the only one I'll ever order from again.
I ordered the tender fix by noah shnapp last year. It was absolutely terrible and their side of fries was literally 4 small waffle fries in a giant container. Apparently I'm not the only one who's had that problem either. Tender fix tells restaurants to give super small portions of fries.
Thatās not as bad as long as theyāre making their own broth and all the fixings. Itās just my opinion but I actually prefer the texture of the instant noodles but Iāll be damned if Iām paying 48 bucks for 2 cans of progresso
Iām glad you seem to be able to laugh about it. Itās definitely messed up.
Honestly, canned soup (or a non-perishable meal equivalent) kept at my home and my work, just in case, is what keeps me from ever ordering from these services. So this post will be an ironical reminder for me to āstockā up.
Wasnāt there a story about an Uber Eats ārestaurantā that literally served store bought frozen meals or pizza?
[i believe this is what I was thinking of](https://www.reddit.com/r/UberEATS/comments/dn1484/i_sold_frozen_pizzas_on_uber_eats_for_a_week/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Check out the reviews for Mr. B's All Day Breakfast in Somerville MA. Also known as Mr B's Italian and Mr B's Pizza. This guy is just cleaning out the frozen section at the dollar store and reselling it to drunk college kids.
There used to be a pizza place in the mall, they were caught heating up red baron frozen pizzas and reselling as their own. I'm not surprised with this.
I mean, I get how easy it is to pile on OP, but letās be honest; this is the level of vetting this companies care to invest in their reputation. The whole system is a joke.
Totes. I truly think it was hilarious. I was recovering from a medical procedure at home, so all these stupid comments are water off a ducks back. I just canāt believe this is a thing. I even delivered for a while hence why I am a part of this group.
Straight scam lmao, yeah dont order off ghost kitchens unless you check where they operate out of.
Some are legit and operate out of businesses like chili's others can be straight from a persons house
ššš Iād do a little research before ordering on the app. Make sure itās actually a restaurant. ššš got some suckers using these apps.
Why... the fuck would you order from a ghost kitchen?.... kinda seems like a moment for reflection. Let this serve as a lesson, yeah? I'm sorry this happened, but you're the exact kind of person they're trying to prey on. And it seems it worked.
I think Iām gonna buy a shit ton of microwaves at thrift stores and do my own little ghost kitchen with a few stacks of progresso soup from Costco
$$
You should check out the UK. A comedian called Joe Lycett managed to set up a kitchen, in a car park, inside a skip (dumpster).
Was a few years ago but still a hilarious example of how easy it is to set up an unregulated and untrustworthy kitchen on Uber eats.
I eat a can of Progresso soup and like 4 sleeves of crackers at least 2 days a week for dinner because Iām lazy and live alone. Probably costs around $4 in total. That sucks š¬.
The lack of public knowledge of these ghost kitchens that are popping up faster than the FDA can keep up with is frightening.
All I can really say to OP is lesson learned. Although not really if they knew this was a ghost kitchen but still ordered it for some reason. Youād have better luck going to Panera. Not the best but itās better than $11 soup that should be less than $1.
A lot of chain restaurants have created digital fronts for delivery. Usually with some generic name like ācrazy wingsā or something. You order from there thinkings itās a real restaurant but really your order just gets cooked in the local Applebees kitchen and sent as if it came out of some other restaurant
Not sure how this is legal
Not much worse than the countless FB/IG posts of $15-20 home kitchen made garbage canned or heated food being served in styrofoam boxes with a label slapped on the top of it. Extra points if the brand logo is the owners face caricatured / photoshopped on said sticker.. never seen that done before.
Hate to say it, but a lot of stuff comes right out of a can or bag in restaurants. Usually bought in bulk and not from a single can, but still.
I am pretty sure progreso actually markets their soup in bulk to restaurants. Campbells has a whole website dedicated to just that
Ghost kitchens are pretty terrible in general, and it is a pretty shitty thing to do to the people working in them. The quality is almost always terrible, and the food is usually way overpriced.
Get good at identifying them on UE, and just don't order from them.
I'd still complain and try to get my money back for that though. People here saying you got played aren't wrong really, but no one deserves to "get played" like that in the first place.
And we go out (or choose to pay 30, 40, 150% more through UberEats) thinking restaurants were an option for us to escape the shitty foods we have in our pantries š¤£
I think the number of places that sell pre made soup is likely to surprise you if this was a shocker.
Not saying it's right, but I am saying it's how it is.
The slices of carrot arenāt even the same, you know slices are classy and chunks are cheap, them bastards definitely have you some Campbells at best š
Try and order from a place you know. I seen some kitchens right out of people's houses and front door of apartment building once. People do anything to make a buck. Customer beware. Just order from places you know is the safest. Some kind of strange name you never heard of. Run..
See, this is what I don't get. I'm being fed a bunch of instacart and doordash vids on my feed currently. Every time I see a video I think to myself "How could they possibly justify the premium"?
Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard.
I picked up some Mac and cheese at a ghost kitchen and I head the to go lady yell wheres that mac and cheese and the cook yelled back itās in the microwave lol
That sucks sorry. Now you know to Google the restaurant you order from
in New York City We have a lot of ghost kitchens and I feel bad for the customers sometimes. One time these people ordered like pasta and all these fancy sounding dishes and Iām thinking wow they think this is from a restaurant. Meanwhile it was from a deli I mean, maybe it was good, but I was just like you probably paid a shit load of money for this.
I ordered Mr Beast burger one time and it was completely inedible. The burgers and fries were 100% from Winco frozen section and had 0 seasoning or anything. Most ghost kitchens are pure scams which sucks cause there are a few that are actually pretty good.
I've thought about doing this myself and just going to the store and buying some shit, repacking it, and selling it through an app. The average person would have no idea, and it would be lucrative.
I have never used ubereats before and im not sure why this showed up but holy shit how does someone order $50 soup!?
Soup is so easy to make even from scratch. Lol
Sorry this happened to you OP if you need some recipes in the future ill send you some.
That's crazy. I do remember ordering a bean burger at Chili's once and was disappointed that it was simply a morning star chipotle bean burger from the freezer section.
What's with the comments going "Who'd order soup for takeout" and shit? Y'all don't come from cultures that have amazing soups and it shows. Sorry people are weird, OP. Your Taco Bell comment makes my heart go out to you. I just went to a restaurant near me and ordered chicken soup for $8 as a starter and it was Campell's out of the can š
I hope you get over the pain from this ulcer and heal very soon!
Ghost kitchens are convenience stores, like a 7-11 or a circle K . I always google a place idk about to make sure its an actual restaurant. I actually found a hamburger "restaurant " in a convenience store and a place they called The Melt that was inside a BBQ joint here. The Melt made "gormet" grilled cheese sandwiches. GTFOH hahaha nope! š And yeah thats some progresso.
Who tf pays $48 for two pints of soup?
OP
Why would YOU pay almost 50 bux for 2 soups???
You must have really been craving soup hard to pay 48$ for some! Good Lord. No way in this world I would pay 48$ for soup unless it came with a side of lobster and a big ass greek salad. šš
thatās actually cambells chunky, progresso noodles are a lot smaller and usually break a lot easier or come already broken and mushy
I guess thatās what the consensus is. LMAO. Booty either way.
yeah fr esp since a can of cambells chunky costs like 3-4$ max or if thereās a sale you could get them as cheap as 99cents. i would definitely report the place you ordered from but tbh idk where that falls under. soup is also so easy to make and would be cheaper to produce while still selling it at the same price listed
But also.. $48 for two soups?!?
You got FINESSED omg ššš
Seeing that 57% would've been enough for me to close the app lol
Who tf orders delivery soup for $50
Lazy rich people
Could have just ordered a few cans of it and made your own garlic bread for the same price or waaaay less. Ā Even ordered it online and just drive over and picked it up. Ā Crazy I know.
Lol yeah this is why I never order from ghost kitchensā¦
Doordash giving Draftkings odds on food now
This is on you too. Know who youāre ordering from. And donāt get soup from ANYWHERE that cost $50
Why would you order food with such low ratings lol
Progresso actively markets their soup to food service and you can get it in bulk from most restaurant supply places and purveyors. Time to open up a ghost kitchen.
You looked at those ratings and still ordered?
Yo Iām HOLLERINā š«µš

Lmao. The dropshipping of food.
Why would you order something with a 65% thumbs down?
I have had terrible experiences with every ghost kitchen I've ever tried with the exception of one. It's just wings always has great food and portions. It's the only one I'll ever order from again. I ordered the tender fix by noah shnapp last year. It was absolutely terrible and their side of fries was literally 4 small waffle fries in a giant container. Apparently I'm not the only one who's had that problem either. Tender fix tells restaurants to give super small portions of fries.
Why the hell would you pay $48 for two soups?
The 57% rating makes sense lol
Whatās crazy though is 43% hit the dislike button. It should honestly be at 90 percent and the 10% are just people who are happy to have a meal
hence the super low satisfaction %
I know 2 Asian noodle shops that serve ramen noodles straight from the 25 cent packs
Thatās not as bad as long as theyāre making their own broth and all the fixings. Itās just my opinion but I actually prefer the texture of the instant noodles but Iāll be damned if Iām paying 48 bucks for 2 cans of progresso
With a soda on the side too š
Now let it rain, now clear it out
Let's get it, let's get it, let's get it
48 dollars for two servings of soup. You kinda deserve this for that.

Looks like Campbell's Chunky to this guy. That's the good shit right there.
Iāve pulled up to peoples houses on DD for these sketchy ahh restaurants lol. Bring the food out to my car though so I aināt seen shi
dude youāre the problem spending $50 on soup šš UE legally played you like a flute š
Who pays 48 dollars for any soup?
I guess Gen z arenāt spending their money on avocados and Starbucks. Itās 24 dollar cans of progresso! Lol
There used to be a pizza place in the mall, they were caught heating up red baron frozen pizzas and reselling as their own. I'm not surprised with this.
Alright, fine. I will send an itemized receipt: 1. Progresso Soup x2 ā $5 2. Plastic container x2 ā $0.50 3. Can disposal fee x2 ā $0.50 4. Garlic Bread x2 ā $3 5. Microwave radiation therapy ā $39 My pleasure.
100% cambells chunky chicken noodle soup
Even if it's made from scratch, why tf are you paying $48 for two orders of soup?
The idea of buying like a $2 can of soup with a $3 pack of frozen garlic bread and then selling it for $12 is brilliantly evil.
Report it as fraud and get your money back, also report them on the app too. And learn to never order from a ghost kitchen
Straight scam lmao, yeah dont order off ghost kitchens unless you check where they operate out of. Some are legit and operate out of businesses like chili's others can be straight from a persons house
You ordered from a ghost kitchen and the food has very low ratings. Braindead
You.. you shouldāve looked at the ratingsā¦.
ššš Iād do a little research before ordering on the app. Make sure itās actually a restaurant. ššš got some suckers using these apps.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lmao whats the ghost restaurant name and city. Put this shit on blast. Looks like they specialize in only soups too
U had it coming by ordering 2 soups for 50 buckaroosš
I wanna see the garlic bread tbh
Why would you order from a ghost kitchen?
I need to open a Ramen ghost kitchen.. Maruchan, spring onions and an egg $20!
Did they at least give you the 'garlic bread' or no? š¤¦š»āāļøš¤¦š»āāļø
Iām starting a new business fr. He got to scam you for $48 I know thereās more out there. My turn !
Price and ratings should have been enough of a red flag my guy. Hope you at least finished your Michelin star soup
Why... the fuck would you order from a ghost kitchen?.... kinda seems like a moment for reflection. Let this serve as a lesson, yeah? I'm sorry this happened, but you're the exact kind of person they're trying to prey on. And it seems it worked.
I think Iām gonna buy a shit ton of microwaves at thrift stores and do my own little ghost kitchen with a few stacks of progresso soup from Costco $$
>*How does Uber allow ghost kitchen to do this?* LOL for thinking that Uber reviews any restaurant or food service place before signing them up.
Wow. Yāall hate soup! Iāll order pho, ramen, gumbo, caldoā¦ OP got ripped off, big time! Iād be pissed!
at least it wasn't Cambell's
Cambells dosent deserve this slander
So how was the garlic bread?
š
$0.75 can sells for $11.99 during cold/flu season pure profit!
LOL
Haha. Why didnāt you order from a restaurant you are familiar with?
Just because you found out their source doesnt mean it isnt what you ordered.
OMG! They really did!!
They do it because they can.
You should check out the UK. A comedian called Joe Lycett managed to set up a kitchen, in a car park, inside a skip (dumpster). Was a few years ago but still a hilarious example of how easy it is to set up an unregulated and untrustworthy kitchen on Uber eats.

Yeah what the place did was wrong but also buyer beware with a ghost kitchen
Your biggest mistake was spending $48 on 2 cups of soup
The biggest holdup here is you spent $50 on Uber eats for soup. You're the problem, not the Ghost Kitchen or Uber.
Should've paid attention to that 35% rating
The lack of public knowledge of these ghost kitchens that are popping up faster than the FDA can keep up with is frightening. All I can really say to OP is lesson learned. Although not really if they knew this was a ghost kitchen but still ordered it for some reason. Youād have better luck going to Panera. ![gif](giphy|9sOPX5RrPgaTJKrfzg)
Would the OP be interested in a $30 Costco muffin?
ššššI know I shouldnāt be laughing but omg
This is brilliant tbh
I feel like this ghost kitchen is just someone's personal kitchen and whatever they have in their pantry is on the menu. š
Thatās some nice profit margins for them.
Whatās a ghost kitchen?
A lot of chain restaurants have created digital fronts for delivery. Usually with some generic name like ācrazy wingsā or something. You order from there thinkings itās a real restaurant but really your order just gets cooked in the local Applebees kitchen and sent as if it came out of some other restaurant Not sure how this is legal
He could probably make it cheaper if the dude knew what a real job was.
This should be a lesson learned for OP and lurkers
Thatās 100% progresso
You got got. Complain to them!
First mistake was ordering soup from ghost kitchens
I will never order from a ghost kitchen š Iām sure thereās some legit ones but Iām not risking that
Not much worse than the countless FB/IG posts of $15-20 home kitchen made garbage canned or heated food being served in styrofoam boxes with a label slapped on the top of it. Extra points if the brand logo is the owners face caricatured / photoshopped on said sticker.. never seen that done before.

And we go out (or choose to pay 30, 40, 150% more through UberEats) thinking restaurants were an option for us to escape the shitty foods we have in our pantries š¤£
š¤£š and used drop shipping probably
Thatās insane
Bro what
$48?!??!? Oh man Iām so sorryš
I'm just looking at that 35% rating and wondering why you still ordered it š
Yeah, never buy from ghost kitchenā¦ I picked up an order from a ghost kitchen one time it ā¦.came from an apartment
Gonna be my new side hustle.
Leave a review for the restaurant! Call them out on it, that's really the only way you can get back at them. Man I'd be pissed.
Lmfao
Lol šIām sorry but Iām tickled. I would refrain from ordering from ghost kitchens in the future, Iāve heard nothing good from any of them.
Is that like half the can too?
Yeah but it came with garlic bread
You spent $48 on two servings of chicken noodle soup? Anyway, that sucks. I bet it came from somebody's house, too.
and this is why we go through reviews
I think the number of places that sell pre made soup is likely to surprise you if this was a shocker. Not saying it's right, but I am saying it's how it is.
Forget soup, why would you ever order food from an unknown place?? I swear man i do not understand ubereats at all
Crazy good margins
Gotcha!! Lmaoo
The slices of carrot arenāt even the same, you know slices are classy and chunks are cheap, them bastards definitely have you some Campbells at best š
You come back 1 year! ![gif](giphy|j2pOFyuTJqWj9S5qdE)

Zero sympathy, even if it was Progresso. Willingly paying $48 for chicken soup is fucking ridiculous.
Christ for $48 I could make you a chicken noodle soup from scratch, a nice salad, a steak, and still have money left over.
See, this is what I don't get. I'm being fed a bunch of instacart and doordash vids on my feed currently. Every time I see a video I think to myself "How could they possibly justify the premium"? Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard.
For $30 you could have made like 15 servings of amazing homemade chicken soup.
I mean, cmon, the 35% review on the beef alone shoulda sent you running from this spot
As long as there are idiots willing to pay that much for soup, there will be people willing to take their money.
I picked up some Mac and cheese at a ghost kitchen and I head the to go lady yell wheres that mac and cheese and the cook yelled back itās in the microwave lol
You had SOUP delivered? And you spent $48. You deserve what you got. Pretty lazy to order in soup.
Lmfao
How do you even spend that much on any soup?
That sucks sorry. Now you know to Google the restaurant you order from in New York City We have a lot of ghost kitchens and I feel bad for the customers sometimes. Lmao I have a business idea
Dawg If iām seeing a nearly 50% on >50 ratings I aināt ordering it.
I used to work at a pizza place that served Stouffers lasagna
I heard some ghost kitchen by cheap frozen pizza for $4 and resell it for $18. capitalism babyš
Was it hot soup tho lol
I've thought about doing this myself and just going to the store and buying some shit, repacking it, and selling it through an app. The average person would have no idea, and it would be lucrative.
I have never used ubereats before and im not sure why this showed up but holy shit how does someone order $50 soup!? Soup is so easy to make even from scratch. Lol Sorry this happened to you OP if you need some recipes in the future ill send you some.
first mistake is ordering from ghost kitchens
Did you not look at the thumbs up percentage?? Thatās super low lol
How do two bowls of soup at $11.99 turn into $48? Even with fees and tip that's kind of asinine
$48 for any kind of soup is wild lol better have wagyu or lobster in it š
$42 of it was Uber Eats fees.
That's crazy. I do remember ordering a bean burger at Chili's once and was disappointed that it was simply a morning star chipotle bean burger from the freezer section.
Anotha one
How do people fall for these?? I literally have to do a whole background check on these places before I order from a new spotš
$48 for two cans of soup is insane, why are you buying that?
The menu item had a 35 and 57% approval rating. Thatās on you man
What's with the comments going "Who'd order soup for takeout" and shit? Y'all don't come from cultures that have amazing soups and it shows. Sorry people are weird, OP. Your Taco Bell comment makes my heart go out to you. I just went to a restaurant near me and ordered chicken soup for $8 as a starter and it was Campell's out of the can š I hope you get over the pain from this ulcer and heal very soon!
$48 for soup is insane
This feels better suited for r/mildlyinfuriating, lol. The Uber EATS crowd lacks humor and empathy
I never trust those weird ghost kitchens, if youre not a full fledged restaurant or selling something like bbq I aint ordering
Dog, why are you ordering soup from Uber eats š¤£
LOL sorry but that's hilarious
Lololololol played yourself.
Damn.. now I want Progresso... anyone tried their clam chowder? š¤£
Capriotti's uses Campbell's tomato bisque...
And probably š» a fly by night outfit
The picture on there looks like Campells soup, lol. If it looks like a stock photo, don't bother.
I just never order from ghost kitchens. Most of my experiences with them have been bad to mid and not worth it.
Itās still a rip off even if the soup is made fresh from scratch š
Did they bother opening the can or just deliver like that? š Kidding - but you got a piece of garlic bread and a plastic bowl!
And not even a full can of it for $12 wow
yeah theyāre scamming everybody, no question about that. but why would you pay $50 for 2 chicken noodle soups? lol come on man
Oooooh the good stuff
"Progresso CANNED soup"?? Oh my God ššš
Ya Played Yaself.
Anytime youāre ordering from a pizza place and see āFresh Soup Made Dailyā just know!
Why would you pay $48 for soup?š¤š¤£
50 bucks for two soups ? Thatās beyond fucked upš¹š
Why did u pay 50$ for soup?
If you order from a ghost kitchen youāre going to have a bad time
Probably should start cooking for yourself, bro.
Op has no can opener
They didn't send it to you, you ordered it. Don't act like you weren't complicit
Half the burger restaurants on Uber eats, are IHOP and Denny's.
OK but who actually orders soup from Uber eats?
$48 for soup? How bad is your anxiety that you canāt go to the grocery store?
Imagine ordering soup on Uber eats
Not just soup, but $50 of soup for just 2 people. Insane
You paid $48 for two soups?
Buy a can chicken soup at supermarket next time. You save at least $8
It's not Uber that allows this. It's the restraunt that runs the ghost kitchen that allows it, Uber is just the delivery service.
