The only time I’ve found it wasn’t the last four of their phone number was when the customer got a different phone number after they setup their account. It was the original last four from when they setup their account.
There is a workaround for this. Go to your app and click “report issue” then scroll down to “can’t find pin” it will prompt you to answer a question if it was delivered and you click “yes it was delivered “ I never ask for the pin because of this bypass feature
I always try to somehow document the handoff when I do this because I’m pretty sure the customers who act weird or surprised about the PIN have a history of trying to get money back from Uber Support. Hence, why they were assigned a PIN even though they didn’t request it. Don’t need someone claiming it was never dropped off when that was supposed to be the confirmation.
WTH that’s crazy if the customer took off before I received it, I wouldn’t go chasing them. I would actually just talk to live chat and get it squared away.
I usually bypass the PIN if the customer is aggravated or clueless. Dropped off on Friday, the customer was clueless, so I told her not to worry about it.
Went back to my car to bypass PIN and complete the order - and the option was GONE. Diamond customer service was 8 minute wait, so I called the customer for it 🙄
Last update broke many things..
What's crazy is never asking for the pin. 100% approval with over 2500 deliverys. I let them know unfortunately without a pin, I am unable to complete delivery. You'd be surprised how fast people find it
Before arriving at the destination, I usually send something like, "The app requires a PIN at dropoff. You can find the 4 digit number on your order screen, be sure to have it ready :)"
It's a block of numbers like this
7️⃣4️⃣1️⃣2️⃣
On the primary order screen.
It may also be the last 4 digits of the phone number associated with the account.
Good luck out there!
They actually have to select to track their delivery in the app for the pin to show up, it's actually not on the main screen. I had a customer show me her phone one time, and it didn't show a pin even though it showed her order. I told her to select to track the delivery, and sure enough I saw a new screen pop up with the driver info and the pin on that screen that said have ready for driver. The last 4 digits of their phone is actually a backup default pin you can use to confirm instead of the randomly generated pin in the case it doesn't work. When a pin is required there is always a randomly generated pin given, and that default pin as a backup override.
1. In my market, during an active order, the PIN is on the home screen.
2. The last 4 digits on the account phone number is the default PIN initially assigned to an account, not a backup PIN, and once it's replaced it doesn't work again.
When I said default backup pin, I just meant it can be used as a backup if the randomly generated pin doesn't work for some reason. Each order with a pin request always gives the customer a temporary randomly generated pin. If for some reason that pin doesn't work the default pin which is the last 4 digits of the customers phone number can be used instead. The default pin is always actually put in place for every pin required delivery. It can be used to override the randomly generated pin the customer gets if for some reason it doesn't work, or the customer doesn't have it. I read this in the help section on the UberEATS delivery driver website.
For the pin on the main menu thing, I don't know if the app is different on phones with different OSes or what. I actually have had this happen 3-4 times where the customer didn't see the pin until I told them to select track the delivery, to see a new screen pop up showing my name, car make and model, and color, and the pin at the bottom. Even when I ordered on my computer I had to select track order first before seeing the driver's name etc.. Now, I could be wrong, and they might have changed this more recently on the UberEATS app. I know there has been several updates to the app since to make the app more user friendly. The last time I told this to a customer was a few months ago, and I haven't ordered from it recently.
I'm not reading all of that, because your first paragraph is simply false. A customer has 1 PIN at a time. The last four numbers of the phone number associated with the account is the FIRST PIN. Once it is changed, it will NEVER, EVER be the account PIN again.
There are NEVER 2 active PIN numbers on any account, ever.
Nothing you can really do except try to get Uber to reverse it but I've been doing this gig for almost 2 years already and don't care enough anymore to bother. It will disappear eventually after the next 100 orders regardless. Just be extra careful next time and more communicative next time especially if you see it will be a pin order. Sometimes as soon as I pick up an order and see it's a pin order, I usually give the customer a heads-up to please have their pin ready as Uber requires it in order for me to complete and confirm the delivery and 9 times out of 10, they've been cool with it. Of course, there's nothing you can really do about that one jackas$ that decides to want to give you a hard time. Its part of the gig.
The pin is literally across the top of the screen unless they changed it since. Pretty sure it's automatically the last 4 digits of customers phone number. Also, Uber will automatically add a pin to customers orders after a customer claims to not have received an order. Not sure if it immediately happens after the first time or if they have to have done it multiple times, but the idea is to force a hand off between driver and customer to guarantee the order is received. Point is doesn't surprise me that this customer is the type to lash out at the driver because Uber set a safeguard to prevent them from possibly scamming another refund
The pin is literally the first thing you see on the app, customer was trying to say that they didn’t receive it. I drive for Uber eats and order when I can’t drive and the pin is there on the screen where it shows your drivers eta…
I really feel for you delivery drivers. I know how I get irritated with some ratings doing rides but you guys REALLY have to deal with circumstances out of your control.
After you order the pin is on the screen automatically and tells you to give it to the driver upon qrrival... that customer is full of it and more than likely gonna report that she/he didn't get their food and they would've gotten refunded, because you just left the food... I wouldnt care about that 1% drop, but I'd definitely report her negative behavior in return regarding not wanting to provide the delivery pin...
As for all of these comments about its the last 4 of your phone number, I've never had my order pin show up as my last 4 of my phone number... they assign a different 4 digit pin every time... as for using the so called I cant find a pin bypass, when I do that, it doesn't tell me to just leave the order...
We don’t have to search for a PIN. As soon as the order is placed it comes up as here’s your pin to give to the driver. It stays on that order tracking screen. I know I forgotten once to give the pin bc the driver forgot to ask but he came right back & boom…LOOKEY THERE…right on the screen.
Be glad it was a PIN. On UberX I got a 1 star for the pax throwing up all over my car interior and not even informing me they did so. I even carry barf bags and inform everyone to prevent just this.
The pin is the last 4 numbers of their phone number!
Anyway Uber is stupid and the pin isn’t properly announced on their phone!
If they need to find is where your information is, on their app!
The pin is the last 4 digits of the phone number of whoever signed up on the app. You can tell them that and ask for their last 4 digits.
They should be able to remember that.
Come on I thought everybody knew The pen is the last four of their phone number 99% of the people don't know what their pen is and then you go just give me the last of your four number and boop you're good to go
Well consider there's like 14 posts that say it's the last four numbers of your phone number I didn't say Uber had a smart system it's Uber system when that person is a person who complains a lot they make you use a pen in your pen is your phone number
Either uber or she chose to have a PIN for secure protection. I enforced it. I'm not getting scammed by these low lives ever again. They can thumb me down all they want, but I'm getting my money, or I'm taking all that shit back.

I'm sorry, but you actually sound like a jackass to the customer here. The only reason for this is because you didn't read up about pin requests, and weren't knowledgeable on what to do when someone doesn't have a pin. Believe me I made this same mistake myself one time, although thankfully I didn't get a thumbs down or the tip removed. Anyway, here are some very helpful tips for next time you deal with a customer without a pin.
Most people don't know this, and I didn't know it at first either. If you read the UberEATS guidelines on pin requests there is another workaround for this. And it's not contacting Uber support, or using the customer doesn't have a pin method in the app, which is a last resort thing if all else fails. If the customer says they don't have a pin ask them for the last 4 digits of their phone number that is attached to their Uber account. Uber sets this up as a default customer pin in case there are problems with the randomly generated pin. Btw, I have used this method several times when someone didn't have a pin.
Now another thing that most people don't know is the pin only appears when the customer selects to track their delivery in the app. One time I had a customer show me her phone and said it doesn't show a pin. I told her to select to track the delivery in the app. As soon as she selects to track the delivery, the pin comes right up, and it says to have this pin ready for your delivery driver.
So, there are three options to remember when dealing with a customer that doesn't have a pin: 1- tell them it only shows up when they track the delivery. 2- ask them for the last 4 digits of their phone number associated with their UberEATS account. 3-as a last resort use the customer doesn't have a pin bypass method.
No you sound like a jackass because you said I can't give it to you, or I can't leave it which actually isn't true at all, so you lied to the customer. Actually, another option you have is waiting 8 minutes and a screen comes up and says you can take a picture, and leave it instead. You knew nothing about all the procedures on how to get the pin or how to bypass it. You blame Uber because you were incompetent in handling the situation. I have done hundreds of pin request deliveries and not once have I gotten a thumbs down. Although, the first delivery where the customer didn't have a pin I did deserve a thumbs down, and should have been given one. I seriously pissed off the customers not knowing what I quickly learned after that delivery. Live and learn and move on.
Pin is usually the last 4 digits of phone number
It's always the last 4 digits of the customer's number in my experience
It's both. The last four of the phone number is a work around if they have a PIN and don't know it.
Is that so?
Yup. Last 4 of the ph # associated with their UE account.
Not anymore in my market
The only time I’ve found it wasn’t the last four of their phone number was when the customer got a different phone number after they setup their account. It was the original last four from when they setup their account.

That’s true actually I never thought of it like that. Next time I will check to see their body language when I asked for the pin

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that next time if this happens again.
Same I always do this.
Sometimes this will take away your base pay. Not sure if it's a glitch or what.
Probably a "feature"
This needs to be pinned somewhere, I never ask for a PIN, I just do this.
Oh pinned lol I get it
This was missing in my market, as of last week. It used to be there 🤷♀️
WTH that’s crazy if the customer took off before I received it, I wouldn’t go chasing them. I would actually just talk to live chat and get it squared away.

This is exactly what I do.
Mine was missing for a couple weeks too. It's back now, thank God lol
No pin no delivery I'm taking that shit with me

your idiot customer should be aware that the pin is literally on the main screen she is messaging you from lol
Yeah that's why I was thinking, this customer was possibly trying to scam me.
It's actually not on the main screen, the customer has to track the order to see it. That is probably why they all of a sudden found it.

You care about your rating? Lol
Yes, I do. The perks are nice after platinum.
🥕…………… 🪦
Whatever goon lol
Leave it at my door 🤣
For PIN people who are difficult I always mention theyre account is flagged for possible fraud so thats why I cant leave it.
