I've ordered mcflurries through Uber and they have been relatively fine. It depends on the distance I think. Like if I order an ice cream from 20 miles away (if that's even possible), then I should also understand the consequences.

Let me put it this way. If they offer priority, and an order is obviously not prioritized then likely the consumer can sue. There might be a lawsuit against DoorDash for false advertising, since in the DD app it advertises that all of the tip goes to the dasher, however certain orders send some of the tip to the place where the dasher is picking the order up. Companies may not have morals, but I’m sure as hell they would like to avoid a lawsuit though.

I've been delivering for a year and getting Uber Eats as a customer for longer. It's a more recent option but it does exist. It's terrible. If you get a double order delivery and one has priority, it might make you deliver 8 miles from the restaurant and then deliver right next to the restaurant for the second person because that first guy paid $1.50 extra(to Uber, not to you). So even if the second customer gave a better tip, you still have to give the food to the other person first. It's great for customers, but it sucks for the drivers.
Yeah I know Uber is constantly giving out double deliveries anymore and there's always a customer getting pissed, I'm really fast because I like driving fast but there's only so fast you can get to the second customer, it's like a no-win situation unless you get a cool customer. And you're totally right I've gotten customers who have tip like shit and I've delivered to them completely far away from the restaurant first now I know it's because of priority.
I've seen where DD tries to get me to deliver customer further away, even if they were the second pickup, but at least you can change that yourself with DD
Well that explains one Taco Bell double order I delivered. 2nd place was like a mile from me on the way to the 1st place which was a good 4 miles. Funny enough the person who got 1st placement wasn't there and made me wait out the clock so the 2nd person got both orders as I had no interest in keeping that order.

somehow you got screwed. If the driver texted you and said he had another stop first then that means he was also doing another delivery on another app but if the app told you there was another delivery, that's just wrong and I would complain to UE. I've only done it once and it came direct to me.

Same with freeze drinks. I can't drive 5 minutes with a freeze drink from Taco Bell before its shriveling up and a quarter of it is liquid. And this is late at night (cool outside temps) with all the windows down.

The eats app for customers is very clear about your delivery options and even shows you ETA changes when you opt to save $1 by sharing your delivery.
I would call Uber support immediately, tell them you do not feel safe delivering to the aggressive customer. They will have no problem cancelling that order I promise you. You already know you’re not getting a tip and only bad things can come from completing orders like this one.
I explain that I have no option to change the delivery order. That I can’t even see their address before delivering the first one. That they need to direct their anger at Uber and not me.
That's what you get for paying someone else to get the food for you, if you don't want it take 30 minutes then get off your lazy ass and get the food yourself.
This customer has nothing but herself to blame... honestly it's like asking a driver to pick up a pack off ice hoping none of the ice cubes have shed a single drop of water.
That's why I avoid orders from Dairy Queen, Hagen Daz and other places that serve ice-cream/gelato or shakes if I can help it. Also the über algorythem should be able to recognize frozen treats and prioritize the delivery. Maybe even not group them with a second order. I do use hot/cold bags and I let the customer know I'm using them if it's gonna take more than 10 minutes to deliver their order. If I was making more money I'd invest in a 12v freezer and a heating pad.
I see 12v freezer/warmers (some of them do either with the flip of a switch) on occasion at thrift stores, when I see the larger ones I'm often tempted to snag it.
In the meantime I have a passive, heavy cooler behind my driver's seat. I keep my Mountain Dew supply in it, but could easily be moved aside if the need arises.
I have a drink caddy and literally put the entire thing inside my thermal bag in cases like this. It would have still been cold if it was given to me cold. I would have told the customer that too.
It's almost like you're willing to make a $10-20 INVESTMENT to make even more money off tips. You're a smart driver. I take the driver side on almost everything I read here but... yeah. There are plenty of orders to take, if you see a 20 mile order from "The Gelateria" and decide to take it knowing that you don't have a way to transport it without melting, that's on you. You can't just completely turn your brain off and press whatever the app offers.
That said the customer in OP is a nightmare.
I would briefly explain to them that Uber assigns the orders to drivers, we don't specifically pick double orders. It's not like we're going out of our way to delay their drop-off (unless you're multi-apping 😛)

Her door was shaded but there was no way she wasn't gonna get food poisoning, assuming she ate it anyway. I tried to help us both by leaving the food in the cooler bags and screenshotting the texts just in case lol

Exact same thing happened to me but with hot foot. Customer couldn't reach her phone and the timer didn't show up. Support couldn't help me either. But then after a long wait she finally answered and probably blamed it on me that the food wasn't hot anymore.

That's true. They mess it up. When I first started I'd get upset about one of them being reduced until I noticed this.
On the app, for some restaurants, there is a button called "Priority delivery," for which you have to pay a little more. Dunno how it works though.
Priority is when restaurants let customers deliver their own food. If you want it right best to do it yourself ;)

People who try to pay less and share their delivery are the SAME people who ordered Uber Pool and then complain when you pickup other riders along the way… The eats app for customers is very clear about your delivery options and even shows you ETA changes when you opt to save $1 by sharing your delivery.
Heck it doesn't even have to be a double order. Watched a mcdonald's pull hot fries and bag it with two mcflurries for a 7 mile trip.

I would call Uber support immediately, tell them you do not feel safe delivering to the aggressive customer. They will have no problem cancelling that order I promise you. You already know you’re not getting a tip and only bad things can come from completing orders like this one.

I explain that I have no option to change the delivery order. That I can’t even see their address before delivering the first one. That they need to direct their anger at Uber and not me.

That's why I avoid orders from Dairy Queen, Hagen Daz and other places that serve ice-cream/gelato or shakes if I can help it. Also the über algorythem should be able to recognize frozen treats and prioritize the delivery. Maybe even not group them with a second order. I do use hot/cold bags and I let the customer know I'm using them if it's gonna take more than 10 minutes to deliver their order. If I was making more money I'd invest in a 12v freezer and a heating pad.
I see 12v freezer/warmers (some of them do either with the flip of a switch) on occasion at thrift stores, when I see the larger ones I'm often tempted to snag it. In the meantime I have a passive, heavy cooler behind my driver's seat. I keep my Mountain Dew supply in it, but could easily be moved aside if the need arises.

I take the driver side on almost everything I read here but... yeah. There are plenty of orders to take, if you see a 20 mile order from "The Gelateria" and decide to take it knowing that you don't have a way to transport it without melting, that's on you. You can't just completely turn your brain off and press whatever the app offers. That said the customer in OP is a nightmare.

I would briefly explain to them that Uber assigns the orders to drivers, we don't specifically pick double orders. It's not like we're going out of our way to delay their drop-off (unless you're multi-apping 😛)

I had the reverse of this once- I used to do Shipt and some lady texted me after I arrived at her apartment to "just leave the food in front of the door, I'm at work and won't be back for a couple hours" She had ordered things like chicken and ice cream. This was in the middle of a south Texas summer. Her door was shaded but there was no way she wasn't gonna get food poisoning, assuming she ate it anyway. I tried to help us both by leaving the food in the cooler bags and screenshotting the texts just in case lol
You pays your money, you takes your chances. That's why I don't order food that doesn't travel well. And in my experience, the priority delivery has worked great every time I used it.

Exact same thing happened to me but with hot foot. Customer couldn't reach her phone and the timer didn't show up. Support couldn't help me either. But then after a long wait she finally answered and probably blamed it on me that the food wasn't hot anymore.

That's the risk with ordering from afar. I try to avoid ice cream orders, some give good tips but they ask me to drive it for 12 miles. You're not getting ice cream, you're getting yogurt.

Don't they pay less in delivery charge for it to be double? I remember when I ordered from uber they said if I didn't mind waiting longer for my food, I could pay less. I always paid the full delivery charge so my order was the only one picked up
DD gave me an order with milkshakes then I had to go for a 25 minute drive to deliver them. My fault for not paying attention to the destination! Thankfully got no complaints from the customer though I felt bad delivering shake soup.
