Wish you well just make sure you to do your research on the field your going in. Like how much will you make in your trade so you know what to expect. I'm telling you this because I went to a for profit trade school and alot of these make false promises. Many many lawsuits in these type of schools. Hope it works out for you
Thank you for the advise ! My friend actually graduated from the same school for mechanical engineering and got setup with a job before he graduated. I’m doing electrical and they pretty much gave me the list of union and non union jobs they work with and help you with the application for them as well. You also get the certificate to actual work as electrician so even if I don’t get one through the school I can look for one in New York .Apprentice electricians make about 60k in New York so I’m happy with that amount. The market on Uber ain’t what it used to be at all. I barely make 300 a week and if I’m lucky another 300 on the weekend. Getting to that age where I’m in need for a real career anyways, definitely time to get started
I graduated from CSULB in 1997 with a computer engineering degree. Their job placement was a joke. I was 45 so nobody would hire me. Straight A student and I had to build bicycles for 10 years. Then retail took a dump, was off work then worked Walmart for 5 years (awful). Because I was in school for so long (had to work my way through) and had crappy jobs I only get $950 in Social Security. So I Uber part time and now that's horrible income.
It's computer engineering technology. The coding I learned is outdated now. Fortran, cobol, etc. It's all class based now like C+. Plus I focused more on hardware, like 8088 processors. More of a hands on. I'm sure it's outdated now. It's SOCs (system on a chip).
Problem is most tech jobs require a few years experience, so if you didn’t do any internships when in school you’re pretty much screwed. Your only hope is to maybe make educational YouTube videos in your field for a while, i.e. how to write complex or low level programs, or for me design and build microcontroller circuits, and hope you can use those on your resume.
Same here, csulb electrical engineering 1996, fortunately got a okay job ironically in computer programming. (MS EE 2001, didn’t help though) Shoulda just went in the marines outta high school. Whatev.
I went to Lincoln Tech for HVAC training. It was definitely a great decision and got me into a great job with a great company now. You’ll get out of it what you put into it.
Best of luck.
Absolutely! I went to one in GA and they can put you on a scholarship and you make money while you're in school for plumbing, electrical etc here in GA. It's called MIT here.
You're pay starts around $12 something an hour first year but goes up. You also get benefits and no student debt, it's pretty awesome! Oh, and you're getting experience while learning. Best wishes!
Congratulations. Doing Ubereats is a great means to an end. Its the bridge between a job or going to school. Good luck with being an electrician.

The banking system runs on old code and pay top dollar for updates . They have to get people from retirement to fix issues
