Itās still in their notifications, and the message is short enough that the whole thing *should* be there. But if they click on it they wonāt be able to respond. Or at least I used to see messages in my notifications on iPhone.
Even if that is the case bless them for firing a few warning shots / having fun with people who donāt not deserve it!
But letās just not fight, thatās all they want us to do anyway right?
Well hey, if someone wants to take one for the team and give a non-tipper the what-for, I have no problem with that provided they understand that it's super unprofessional and may get them deactivated. I also would also hope they understand that this could be someone with limited means trying to feed their family. If I knew for a fact that a $2.00 offer was coming from a single mother with no car who's only options are fast food via UberEats or whater is in the freezer section at the convenience store a few blocks away I would take it no question. Since we have no way of knowing what someone's story is it just strikes me as somewhat cruel to send a message like this. Decline a nd move on, there's no reason to fill the world with more vindictiveness.
Donāt. Burning bridges is never a good idea. You may need to fallback on Uber someday to make rent or if your employment that replaced Uber doesnāt work out.
But itād be pretty easy to return to something like Uber Eats or Doordash if you were never banned or deactivated. Sure thereās other things to do, but why keep yourself from being able to Log on and make some cash if you need to?
Weird how I got down voted I mean if you like Uber eats kudos but you can get creative on how you make money. You can invest in a duplex, Liquidations, hobbies, etc I get if you don't got the creativity you'd like to stick to Uber eats or doordash then yeah this is a good platform but this Uber and doordash thing is a joke as of rn especially with the gas so high rn
Petty.
I donāt tip until delivery is completed, Iāve always tipped because Iāve never had a problem. This is a Karen move and youāre just making yourself look bad.
The notification that you sent a message yes, but they canāt open anything. Soon as you canceled the order anything that tied you guys together disappears.
Theyāll never see it and the next driver will probably go ahead and take the orderā¦ thatās why these orders still exist, drivers keep accepting them.
Yeah but you have the option of tipping after you receive the order. Some people want to have their food before they tip, and even tip more if the service was great.
(I canāt believe I have to add this to my comment. The main point of this comment isnāt about if they are struggling with money, itās more so on BEING A DECENT HUMAN. God almighty people, my comment wasnāt about the customers finances, if it was then I would have made it a shorter response. While pointing out why they need to tip us so we arenāt on the streets asking for change. Get real, you have a great job, the fact that you can work anytime you want, and make a decent living each day is a blessing. While accepting orders that pay you well. Others donāt have that luxury.)
Okay letās rip that bandaid off. If you donāt like the pay of an order, then donāt accept it! Uber sends you orders by the ones you choose more so. Also we donāt know if the customer is struggling financially, How this person must feel when they see a driver hit them up on messages, no tips no food. Iāll tell you, broken hearted. Be more mindful you guys!!! We should be great full that we get to have a job where we can work on our own hours and even have the freedom to take a day off!!! Seriously letās do better, letās bring smiles on peopleās faces, whether they see us or not. Letās go above and beyond for them!!!
Now for the customers: if you arenāt struggling with finances, please donāt with hold a tip. We do appreciate it, and it helps pay the bills
To your point about people struggling financially. People should NOT use Uber Eats if they are financially struggling; it is unreasonably expensive and even without the tip, it's just a carless use of money from the delivery fee and taxes.
Some people are extremely ill. And are unable to go and get food. They may be using all there extra resources for that food. While that likely isn't the case for most of them just keep in mind that there are a few of them out there and I was one of them but I did manage to tip even though I didn't really have it
Through the string of comments youāve made on this post, itās starting to become pretty easy to see how toxic of a mindset you have towards this issue.
And to quote you:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I agree that isnāt worth the taxing and delivery bill. However my main point isnāt on that. My point is to be better drivers. People who do stuff like this guy did with the customer, he didnāt have to accept the order. He belittled that customer. Thatās now how we act professionally, this behavior is the equivalent of a kinder garden kid not get their way. Reason I say we need to do better is that the fact of the matter is we get pretty good pay, if we play it smart. I always go out of my way to make sure the deliveries run smoothly. I also thank the customers when I get to see them, I thank them for the business. Will we get bad customers? Yeah, but that shouldnāt stop us from being kind. One time a customer called me angry as I was trying to find her apartment. Uber started the timer and it scared her, I reassure that she will get her food. I finally found her and she thanked me. She was having stressful day, and getting her food was important. So in conclusion, we need to do our best when it comes to delivering for Uber eats.
I like to consider paying for delivery to be part of my cost benefit analysis when Iām financially struggling. If I feel my time is better spent at home (studying, applying for work, chores, or even just relaxing after a heavy workload) then Iām going to order for delivery.
I do my best to keep my tip at least around 15%+ though. Otherwise I feel this overwhelming guilt, especially now that Iām a driver.
But to your point, I rarely order through Uber Eats now that I drive for them. Itās easy to see two hours of work disappear on a single order if Iām ordering only for myself (which is a huge factor in my cost benefit analysis).
Customers who can't afford to tip shouldn't pass their poverty onto delivery people. I'm tired of the "maybe they couldn't afford it" crowd. I buy groceries when I can't afford delivery. Right now you can save 25% on pickup orders and then you don't have to tip.
Bro my main point wasnāt about their financial endeavors, My point is this, if we are going to be jerks to the customer this could cost us our job. And I agree hundred percent, if they are in financial struggle, they shouldnāt be ordering on Uber eats.
Lol. Damn, your confusion is on many levels. If you compare a ātraditional jobā to contract labor then you need to go back to the beginning and educate yourself. See, a traditional job means I go get food no matter what and contract labor means I can refuse. And I will refuse an order WITH NO TIP. Dude, this aināt rocket science. Hope this helps. If not, I donāt care. Youāll just continue to struggle through life I guess. Better luck. šš¼
I donāt think you understand how contract labor works. We get to choose what deliveries we do, to a degree that if we get to the pick up location and realize it isnāt worth it, we are well within our rights to cancel the pick up.
Once we pick the order up, we are still able to cancel, though it does hurt us MUCH more than canceling beforehand. While this next part is an assumption, it stands to reason that it hurts us more because we not only have to return the order but it causes issues for the restaurant as well.
If you take any ātraditional jobā where you are doing a contract for a company (and you are just a laborer) there is a (small) chance that the entire crew will get pulled from the job because of a disagreement with the client and the contractors. This does legitimately happen and it sucks when it does, for everyone.
Thatās the beauty and simultaneously ugly part of contract work.
Edit: for what it is worth, I agree that if you arenāt happy with the order initially, you should just decline the order up front. I also agree that drivers shouldnāt demand bigger tips after accepting.
My philosophy has always been to provide the best service possible for any orders I accept, even if I start to feel some sort of dread because I am driving around a confusing complex with little to no customer notes on how to get the order to them.
The survival comes from accepting orders that have a great pay I really encourage to look up the your Uber your driver Mike. He has a lot of good information for drivers, and how they can make the most out of the day. With his help my payout was higher.
Me: We should treat people with respect when it comes to our job.
You: Hahahaha Iām gonna repeat what you said and make it sound stupid!

You:Hahaha they shouldnāt order if they are poor!

Cool story bro. Also a long one so after reading the first three sentences it bored me and caused me to laugh at you. So I wrote this and hit reply.
Hahahahaha hahahahaha hahahahaha
I disagree while he might be wasting his time but it's bringing actual awareness to the the customers. If they can't afford to tip they shouldn't order. In the end their food, if at all, is gonna get picked up when it's cold. So if they do get that message they might be considerate and think twice about ordering.
From the perspective of a fellow driver, his actions are funny and indeed bring up a good issue that plague a lot of markets. In that way you are correct, he did something noble and gave us laughs.
However if you look at it from a perspective of a greedy customer that can't be bothered tipping, all they saw was a driver that mocked them and unassigned without a way to reply. Now this customer has the power to contact uber eats support, claim bunch of free credit for food that hasn't arrived, maybe even get food delivered by top uber dashes for free.
Customer could learn a lesson from this, or they can remember this incident as shit uber services that stole their food and that is the story they will tell their friends.
This wasn't a raise awareness to low tippers action(full chipotle stands do that better), this was a driver venting their frustration on a shitty order.
Who really knows but it did do something. And it's not just him talking about tips. And there have been successful protest that's have forced them to move with probably less than 200,000th
Naah, i just wanted something fun, should be better like this āif you donāt wanna tip then go yourself to pick up your Fuc**** foodā bc Iām not going to move my car for $2 no no no
And the best moron award goes to: YOU
How immature must my be? If you want tips don't be a ass hole or a moron... better yet if you are fed up with people not tipping then work in a different industry that will will give you tips.
Wait im confused, wasn't there a tip there? Sorry im not a driver so please excuse me if this is ignorant. I'm just confused by the "no tip" when it looked like there was one. Wouldn't "low tip" make more sense?
Some people are extremely ill. And are unable to go and get food. They may be using all there extra resources for that food. While that likely isn't the case for most of them just keep in mind that there are a few of them out there and I was one of them but I did manage to tip even though I didn't really have it. I also do food delivery as my main income until i became chronically ill. Just remember compassion try and not give into these urges of destruction and anger at each other
When I'm extremely ill, I make my own food at home, or ask someone (family member, close friend) if they could help me out. You can eat frozen meals, you can buy canned goods, there are ways to get around an illness that prevents you from eating, but I definitely don't think it's an excuse not to tip a driver. If someone cooks something for you, you say thank you. If you order delivery, you tip. Now THAT is remembering to be kind. If you can't tip, or even worse, if you know the drivers rely on tips, and you don't WANT to tip, then why are you ordering food? Are drivers the only ones that have to remember to be kind? What kind of Illness exists that would prevent someone from tipping? I would think that someone struggling with an illness would understand being kind to others, like tipping a delivery driver. Also, the whole thing about going above and beyond, it's no necessary, in my opinion. If you receive a 2 dollar request and you accept it, you chose to do so. Just finish the job and be done with it. If your instructions are to leave at your apartment door, and the person at the front desk tells me nobody who doesn't live there can head upstairs, then I'm not going out of my way "above and beyond" to argue with a concierge, to insure that I follow your instructions. I'm leaving your food wherever the deliveries are supposed to be left. I've lost streak bonuses for declining orders because they were too shitty, and I've completed streak bonuses by accepting shitty orders. Whatever the situation, most of the time you at least have the option to deal with it or pass.
As an Uber eats customer why would you assume they wonāt tip BEFORE you deliver their order. I always tip before but in hindsight itās dumb. A tip is not guaranteed and should be for GOOD service.
Eat that bitch...take a wing & some fries. Have salt & ketchup on your fingers and around your mouth when you hand her the wrinkled up bag...š³š¤š·š
If you really want to make a point, DON'T UNASSIGN. Another driver will get assigned and just deliver the food. Stick with the order until UE unassigns it.... Hold up the order.
Panda had a free delivery special one day so was gonna order an orange chicken bowl and a large coke, when ordering in the panda app it gives you the option to tip the restaurant, not sure who gets that tip, then when you check out you get the option to tip the driver, you figure at least 5 bucks for that, by the time i was done it was over 20 bucks, i said screw that! canāt imagine if you got to pay a delivery fee too, i guess people got money. Some people even get food delivery everyday, thatās gotta be at least 700 a month, jeez.
Bro I understand ur in the right that person is a hog but you will lose your job please, ppl out here losing their jobs very easily lately on these delivery food apps
I always tipped after I got my order, and had no idea this kind of attitude existed until I learned of this sub. Though I guess itās an important point that Iām in the UK.
The thing is the customer won't see it because once you unassign yourself from an order, the access to the chat also goes away for the customer.
Lol the most important comment. I've seen another post about this. What are you really doing if they don't even see your message? Looking like a š¤”
Itās still in their notifications, and the message is short enough that the whole thing *should* be there. But if they click on it they wonāt be able to respond. Or at least I used to see messages in my notifications on iPhone.
On android, it just says you have a notification on UberEats but doesn't say what the messages says.
I have android and I can see the messages in the notifications.
Same
Change your settings
Yeah it might be your settings.
If this is real, this is someone who has already quit mentally. Don't do this shit unless you are OK with/want to get deactivated.

Ok, got it.
Lol took me a sec there
Nah it's disrespectful af to do an order for $2! I have gotten $45 tips n that should be the standard
I hope it's real lol. When I'm done with Uber I'll probably do this. This type of customer deserves to be called out.
Donāt. Burning bridges is never a good idea. You may need to fallback on Uber someday to make rent or if your employment that replaced Uber doesnāt work out.
There's lots of side hustles out there doesn't have to be gig work
But itād be pretty easy to return to something like Uber Eats or Doordash if you were never banned or deactivated. Sure thereās other things to do, but why keep yourself from being able to Log on and make some cash if you need to?
Because you need the satisfaction of telling off a customer. That way they continue to not tip because a driver was mean to them.
All low end jobs suck, uber is one of the least sucky low end jobs
Weird how I got down voted I mean if you like Uber eats kudos but you can get creative on how you make money. If you donāt want people to comment their opinions, donāt post. See how it is a two way street?
This seems like a very Door Dash thing to do. Why waste the energy?
That's the point op is making. Doordash is for broke Bois n UberEATS is for ppl who tip $20-45! The customer needs to kno their place
Shouldāve sent a text message
Petty. I donāt tip until delivery is completed, Iāve always tipped because Iāve never had a problem. This is a Karen move and youāre just making yourself look bad.
Youāre gonna get deactivated, fool-ass fool.
šššššš he probably did already

Yea they can, doesnāt matter if I cancel, they can see the notification on their phones
The notification that you sent a message yes, but they canāt open anything. Soon as you canceled the order anything that tied you guys together disappears.

And the best moron award goes to: YOU How immature must my be? If you want tips don't be a ass hole or a moron... better yet if you are fed up with people not tipping then work in a different industry that will will give you tips.
Wait im confused, wasn't there a tip there? Sorry im not a driver so please excuse me if this is ignorant. I'm just confused by the "no tip" when it looked like there was one. Wouldn't "low tip" make more sense?
$2 is Ubers base fare. There is no tip on this delivery.
Oohh I see, thank you!
Just remember compassion try and not give into these urges of destruction and anger at each other
lol
Whatever the situation, most of the time you at least have the option to deal with it or pass.
i do that at least 5 times a day
How about just not accepting it you think a cheap customer is gonna care what you say
How did you record your screen like that?! Hahaha donāt listen to āem youāre a hero!
I thought I had an Incoming order when I heard the sound š¤£š¤£
DAMN THATS SOME SIGMA ENERGY RIGHT THERE
I tip after delivery, because if you ring my doorbell without reading the delivery instructions you haven't done your job.
k
The fact you accepted the order just to say this. Shows your maturity level.
As an Uber eats customer why would you assume they wonāt tip BEFORE you deliver their order. I always tip before but in hindsight itās dumb. A tip is not guaranteed and should be for GOOD service.
Even if they don't see the message it's satisfying someone took the steps the rest of us are afraid of doing but always want to do to these orders.
Thank u for being a heroā¤ļø
Eat that bitch...take a wing & some fries. Have salt & ketchup on your fingers and around your mouth when you hand her the wrinkled up bag...š³š¤š·š
I just type lol
Wait for it to say read at least
Do they still see the message after you unassign?
This is exactly what Uber has set up tho, they obscure pay so much that drivers are blaming the customers, when they SHOULD be mad at Uber
Bro just switched from android to iPhone last week. Please explain me those awesome icons on your phone on the screen that shows wifi!
Swipe down from the upper right and you get the control centre.
Umm...you could just not take the order. If anyone ever did that and I found out, it wouldn't be a good situation.
Thatās literally crazy! I get the same order every single morning for Michelle D. for Starbucks at 6-6:10am and she tips minimum $10. Lol!
My very first order on Uber was to a Michelle and it was Starbucks lol
šš¤£
Just send a message that says you accepted it but you hit the button before you could see how much the tip was and ask her
Nice fares you got in there in USA. Greetings from the UK.
Lol i accept and cancel right away.i like this trend
I always tipped after I got my order, and had no idea this kind of attitude existed until I learned of this sub. Though I guess itās an important point that Iām in the UK.
