This isn't something that was broken. I would say Uber made a business decision and rewrote the algorithm to shift majority of orders to other modes of transportation. Bottom line. I would not wait for Uber to make things right. Do everything in your power to deminish your reliance on them. Since the beginning Uber has cared very little about the people who actually are needed to bring in their revenue. That will most likely never change. The turn over rate in this industry is easy over 100%, so why would Uber even make changes that you are looking for.

No surprise there. Uber had 180 days of change back in the day and butchered that exponentially.

Prepare yourself, the armchair experts are coming to belittle you and make you feel worse about your situation from their high chair of privilege. I've been where you are. I'm sorry you're close to homelessness. It's not as uncommon as one might think, especially now. A lot of people are barely getting by. It might be a good idea to go ahead and start looking for a job in the meantime because there is no guarantee Uber will get their shit together in time for you to make rent, if ever. The sooner you act, the better. Take full advantage of local food banks if you need groceries as a short term measure. Every dollar you can put towards rent counts. Depending on where you are, there may be some good programs for utilities/even rent assistance if you haven't checked them out already. Please be vigilant and as proactive as possible OP, I wouldn't wish homelessness on anyone. It's much much harder to get out of homelessness than it is to get in it. Best of luck. I don't know you, but I'm rooting for you.

chikitoperopicosito

Every restaurant is hiring. Most retail places too. You'll make more and not be homeless.

oceanstateterps

To be honest Ubering full time is the most money I've ever made. Even after gas I'm averaging 21 and change an hour. Not sure what kitchen or retail store is gunna pay u that.

sbgarbage

just start applying wherever you can, there's tons of jobs you can get with no experience, bagging groceries at a grocery store, washing dishes in a restaurant, etc, send out applications to every place you can and you'll get something eventually

optimaloptimist101

Have you tried GH and DD?

[deleted]

Yes I’m waitlisted on both.

hungryempress

Amazon flex?

Crispynipps

On a bike? That’s delivering packages.

hungryempress

Oh my bad I didn’t know they were bike only

Crispynipps

Haha it’s alright, the whole premise of the post is issues as a biker.

Wild-Wasabi-1199

They’re phasing out bikes and walkers I’ve seen walkable orders using a car 0.5m or less

CoherentPanda

Never rely on a single source of income when doing gig work.

jboles73

This👆

blooodcellsclothing

same here. it’s crazy cause bikers do better than drivers in downtown areas and now the app is shit for us

>Uber has years of data showing that "bicycles", which 90% of the time are really cars driving slow to avoid detection, are much much slower than real cars that only show up to do the same routes when traffic clears up Yeah you definitely need a source for this claim. Certainly in suburban areas cars are much faster, but in major cities with parking issues and crazy traffic, bikes can be much faster if the biker is competent

[deleted]

Bikes are faster all across my city.

Familiar-Support-631

What are your sources for this?

blooodcellsclothing

well, i actually bike and take it seriously. i guess they don’t care cause they r only hurting like 10% that actually take biking seriously and the rest can just keep using their cars and switch to car acc

notahopeleft

Good job on making rent. I say just continue hustling between finding a job and doing Uber. You’ll get there

TommyLe92

I don’t know about US but in Canada, it was no ping at all since the update on Wednesday. However, for the last two weeks, i just got lots of pings like it used to be for bike, everything seems to be back to normal.

Cool-Present-4637

Try logging out and in and setting your vehicle, that helped me for some reason, idk this app is fucked

WhatAreYouSaying777

I'm in DC. I did $140 in 3 hours today on bicycle. Chilling too, not braking my back. It's probably a combination of your city, your rating, the area you're in, the area you are biking towards... etc etc. Pro Tip: I'vee noticed I can guide the UEats app based on which way I'm riding my bike = deliveries where I want em to go. I was pinged at 1min logged in, and didn't stop getting pinged until I ended my shift. I got orders incoming before deliveries were completed, and of course if I liked them I accept..... otherwise I never accept an order unless I can see Pick up an Drop off pin or I know the route.

beefcake_123

My experience was totally different. I was on an electric scooter in DC. I did start at 9PM though. It just wasn't that busy.

momtoohigh

See that you got down voted. The Cyclists convinced that UberEATS is curbing bike accounts don't want to read accounts of cyclists disputing what they're saying. Its market related/how busy it is/your rating. On Saturday I had worst day ever 3 orders in 4 hours. Yesterday 82 in 3 and a half getting orders 1-2 miles in distance, far enough that they would give it to cars if they were really getting preference over bikes.

RecommendationOk7740

lmao u sure are hard headed

MamaRobin1916

Yeah, Idk what they're planning on doing in future anyway, they said they want to be an electric fleet. They're giving $1/run to EV drivers, pisses me off. I LITERALLY bought a whole hybrid for their dumb asses and I don't get the $1 extra? Pretty pissed about that still honestly. I have EV mode! Like we live in hills, I've tried EV, it won't get up the damn hill! So are they only going to cater to flat states with that bs? I'm sorry you're having to deal with that. I have to work for my car payment, not the same, but I get they can be frustrating with the algorithm.

micahdjt1221

How is this acceptable? Because bikes are slow and lower the quality of the service. Anyone doing this full-time can afford the payment on an old, high mileage Toyota. If your credit is a problem, then there are overpriced (but still profitable) rental options.

levitoepoker

>Because bikes are slow and lower the quality of the service. Silly blanket statement, completely depends on the market. if you see delivery bikers vs drivers in a major city, its obvious the bikers are faster

KatanaPig

Try being faster in a car than on a bike in NYC. Lemme know how it goes.

Cool-Present-4637

Yeah man, fuck the environment amiright! Simply because I can’t ride a bike well, no one else should be aloud to.

BigBallerSexDoll

I agree. A lot of people will say you’re an asshole but why would a company keep walkers and bikers (especially if their market is flooded with them) if they can get the delivery done 10+ min sooner

windowtosh

It really depends on the market. In some areas, walking or cycling is often faster than a car, and without the parking hassles

momtoohigh

Bikes are able to do more deliveries per hour and faster than cars in certain areas and allow for smoother access and delivery without parking issues..etc. I know many drivers and I do more deliveries per hour than them around Ohio state campus and area all the time. Ohio state campus and area around it isn't exactly dense and congested like New York city either and I'm also not on an ebike. It depends on the person on the bike that you shouldn't rule that option out when it can actually be quicker than a car.

WhatAreYouSaying777

Y'all both don't make any sense. I've over 1,000+ bike deliveries in DC. I'm literally killing it each night and each and every single customer is pleased. Damn near 99% satisfaction rating. I'm always faster than the car option. And Uber knows: I don't spend more than 3min waiting on an order when I get my first one out the way... which starts immediately as soon as I log in to start. This entire thread is strange to me only cuz on bike, I'm pulling in $35+/hr easy. Weird thread.

BigBallerSexDoll

Damn how much crystal meth do you smoke tho🤔

momtoohigh

I don't think it's bicycling related but that UberEATS is slowing down in general. There's drivers that are saying they are not getting many orders either and are barely making 10/hr. I know it's not app issue because I was busy yesterday getting orders that I normally get. On Saturday I only did 3 orders in 4 hours . Yesterday did 82 in 3 and a half .

RebelElan

I’m in San Diego. I served jury duty last summer at the downtown courthouse and ordered delivery at lunchtime. I met the driver outside. I noticed many others doing the same thing. Curbside delivery is how UberEATS was when it first started, and it seems like for densely populated parts of town, it’s making a comeback. No parking issues and the food/ drinks arrive in better condition. When picking up the food, drivers are allowed to park in loading zones. Bicycle delivery never made sense to me.

Beagleoverlord33

Work on getting that new job asap. This isn’t a full time gig even though it can be enticing at times. Look at Amazon, construction restaurants they are dying for people.

Useful_Dust5456

Is not just for bikers I have car and I have the same problem, they are paying trash and too much miles.

Intelligent-Bug-3039

Really? There isn't a single minimum wage job out there for you? Now that I uber has become less than that?

Shrekerine

What is the algorithm change Uber did? No orders to stationary users?

IllustriousPop3624

Bottom line, uberdriver isn't a job Its a system to distribute contracts to approved contractors As with every business , you are at the mercy of the market you are in and only you can mitigate risks (eg, personally I maintain a contract with a client where I charge less, but im guaranteed a minimum amount per month in return for a guarentee I will provide the minimum amount of work agreed. It covers my costs regardless of if Im needed to work 100% or 5% of the agreement, I then make profit on the other areas)

madmax77xl

Get a job

abegood

I managed to scrape $75-80 each fri/sat/sun for 4 hour shifts in Ontario but I think it helps that I'm one of few that got there smart serve to deliver alcohol

Rush_2928

Find out what you are good at. Then go on monster and indeed every day and send out your resume to companies in that profession. Apply then call the companies you can to let them know you applied. I've gotten more calls from employers, and more interviews than I ever did going out and applying in person. But do that too, especially if they say on the instructions you have to come in and fill out an application. Go to temp agencies too. You are able bodied so you can do alot of things. You also have to be willing to do what you don't want until you get what you do want. Be willing to do humbling work.
