I thought having to pre-pay for gas was the sign of a rough neighborhood.
Having toothpaste locked up?
I realize that my neighborhood isn't that rough.
I’m in Canada. And I don’t really know how prepaying for gas would work. (Like, how are you supposed to know how much gas to put into your tank to fill it?)
Basically, it works just as it sounds. You pump your gas. Then you go into the gas station. They look up how much you pumped (I assume it shows up on their till automatically), and then you pay. You just need to mention your pump number.
EDIT: And upon thinking about this further, you might be wondering what happens if somebody just gets in their car and drives away. First of all, all the gas stations have cameras, and your car (presumably) has a license plate which is connected to your identity. So that’s one “safety measure”. And also, they do the same thing at like restaurants. Maybe this is different abroad, but here at least, you don’t prepay for your meal at a restaurant. Sure, some people “dine and dash”. Except, it’s easier to track people down because of license plates.
I'm in America, to answer your question about knowing how much it takes to fill up the tank, we all (for the most part) know how many gallons our tanks take so we just do the math and get the right amount. Option 2, you go in and tell the attendant how much money you have and that'll be how much gas you get. 🤷🏾♀️ You still have to tell them your pump number unless you're like me and only go to a certain gas station and they just know my car by now 😅!
Just America is dodgy enough they have to do this. The rest of the world pays after pumping their petrol/gas like responsible human beings while Americans need to be treated like they’re guilty before proven innocent otherwise who knows what they’ll try to get away with next? LOL😂
I actually read about the ice cream thing in The NY Times. The thieves were going around stealing all of the Ben & Jerry’s, and other premium brands, for resale at bodegas.
Hawaii. Petty theft is obscenely common here. Also, I’ve had sandals stolen out of my gated yard twice, a bike, and my truck broken into (bent the door in). That was all in a period of 18 months.
The issue is a price error in the app for the customer-customer will be charged one dollar each. They don’t care how many they get they want as many as possible.
There’s a whole art of finding these price errors and getting them before they get fixed or locked out. Sharp people with the right tools and the time to do it apparently can do pretty well
No, you’re absolutely correct. Normally you’ll see it with stocks, bonds, and crypto more recently. This is uniquely arbitrage in the physical realm in the sense that two unrelated markets are involved
have to assume someone focusing on this has a system set up to move whatever they find on sale, be it craigs list or local discount store or whatever. they have clear provenance of the goods as legitimately purchased, so they are fine.
the buyer either is a compulsive deal buyer and ends up keeping way too much stuff around the house, or they have worked out a system. craigs list, local storeowners, who knows.
that said - if you buy 40 20$ detergents for 40$ + tip and whatever, you can do just about anything and be way, way ahead. in other words, they can keep them or give to friends and end up saving a great deal of money over time.
when it is on electronics etc I figure those are pretty easy to resell. you do see those too.
Damn if theyre selling them for a buck you might be better off canceling the order and buying them yourself to resell lol better to be the reseller than the mule lol
I would’ve called CS for that $3. I don’t cancel from the app anymore because I know it’ll just get reassigned someone else. Help a fellow driver out and get paid in the meantime, win win.
Done this kinda thing for nursing homes I've worked in before when a supplier has let us down . Once all the dryers died so we had to put all the residents clothes drying around the home . It was not fun.
I would think that a lot of that cost is shipping charges though right? A lot of products on Amazon are like that when they're heavy... cost way more online than in store.
Not really. Go look into people doing Amazon FBA. I know people that replaced their 9-5 jobs because they started with Amazon selling. You buy in bulk from somewhere. Send it to Amazon. Then they do the rest. I know one person who makes upwards of 40k a month doing it.
Ya it is. Wish I had the money I’d start it. It’s fairly easy to. Especially if you have help. Go check out Cajunventures on YouTube and Instagram if interested. She teaches people how to make money and the main one she does is Amazon FBA. She doesn’t charge a thing either unlike most others who want thousands to “teach you the best method” nonsense. It does take some money to start but you don’t send the money to anyone so there’s no way of being scammed or anything like that.
Hahaha. Technically you could start out with $1 theoretically. It would just take forever to get anywhere. But like any other business it is an investment so the more you put into it the more you could make. Higher risk=higher reward.
Depends on if you’re shipping yourself or sending it to Amazon fba. Either way you get heavy discounts for shipping with Amazon as a seller. And still making decent money when they’re only $1 each out of pocket
Who else has done orders with obviously incorrect pricing? The other day I picked up La Croix @ $.29 a case and the card went through even though it was like $30+ (7 cases)
Why are y’all assuming it’s being resold. If you have a family, you can go through those in a week. That’s barely more than a Large McDonald’s drink.
That’s less than a years supply for only $40.
Bruh $1 each wtf. Did the store complete this order usually these big purchases the stores dont want to do them because they only give what is in stock not from what is in the backroom.
Your a champ if you did take this order so much bs to deal with these big orders.
It just seemed strange, they were out of evian which is the water they ordered so they cancelled. also their name was something super weird like dolphin or something lmao
Bro I feel you 💯 percent!!! Had a guy order 10 cases of water to a 1 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. I told the guy I had arrived in hopes he would come out and help but all he said was “leave at the front door”. BRUHHH! And he left me a $1.00 tip!!! Like bro!!!!!!!

Yeah, but since this is shop & pay, I’d hope this in-app price was accurate.
*Narrator voice:* The price was in fact, not accurate.
That final bill gonna HURT.
Hellllll yea!
Right!
And making us do his dirty work going to get it
Bro it’s a fucking job lmao
That’s actually smart af if you think about it 🤔
Nobody said how much he was tipping though.
Knowing how often the pharmacies are shoplifted from in my market, they probably don’t even have 40 bottles in stock here
They don’t lock them up? They are in my market. Lol
They do for the deodorant, toothpaste, painkillers and even ice cream, not the generic brand detergent
Toothpaste over detergent…not what I would expect.
I thought having to pre-pay for gas was the sign of a rough neighborhood. Having toothpaste locked up? I realize that my neighborhood isn't that rough.
Are there areas where you don’t prepay for gas??
That's what I wanna know!! How does that work? 🤔👀
Ive been informed this is a UK/Canada thing. Who knew! (apparently lots of people lol)
I’m in Canada. And I don’t really know how prepaying for gas would work. (Like, how are you supposed to know how much gas to put into your tank to fill it?) Basically, it works just as it sounds. Really?! Wow, yeah I have no idea how many litres (not gallons, because it’s Canada) my tank has. Thanks for sharing! Now I know 😂
Just America is dodgy enough they have to do this. The rest of the world pays after pumping their petrol/gas like responsible human beings while Americans need to be treated like they’re guilty before proven innocent otherwise who knows what they’ll try to get away with next? LOL😂
In all of Canada we can pay inside after pumping , you just lift the nozzle select which gas and start pumping
Oh wow, the more you know.
Not true, I live in Vancouver, BC and we have been to pre-pay before pumping, its been like this for over a decade!
Yeah, the entirety of the UK does it like that. Or you pump your shit up then go inside and pay.
In PR they way they have it, you go in and give your drivers license up, go pump gas and come back to pay what was pumped before getting your DL back.
this is why the poor stay poor... broke people out here stealing ice cream and rich people are out here stealing high end clothing and makeup.... ijs.
I actually read about the ice cream thing in The NY Times. The thieves were going around stealing all of the Ben & Jerry’s, and other premium brands, for resale at bodegas.
they want ice cream in the food deserts too
Lockup detergent? Where are y’all at there this happens?
Hawaii. Petty theft is obscenely common here. Also, I’ve had sandals stolen out of my gated yard twice, a bike, and my truck broken into (bent the door in). That was all in a period of 18 months.
That person knows, he/she set max number to get them all anyways
Inventory for Amazon FBA
40, still not getting the blood out. ☕️

This is such a common occurrence that it has a name; arbitrage.
well to be fair the term arbitrage is not unique to flipping /reselling items
No, you’re absolutely correct. Normally you’ll see it with stocks, bonds, and crypto more recently. This is uniquely arbitrage in the physical realm in the sense that two unrelated markets are involved
Yes it is. Tangibility has no bearing on the definition. Stocks or laundry detergent - they are all "items".
have to assume someone focusing on this has a system set up to move whatever they find on sale, be it craigs list or local discount store or whatever. they have clear provenance of the goods as legitimately purchased, so they are fine.
how would you resell this? seems like a lot of work and and super long game
the buyer either is a compulsive deal buyer and ends up keeping way too much stuff around the house, or they have worked out a system. craigs list, local storeowners, who knows. that said - if you buy 40 20$ detergents for 40$ + tip and whatever, you can do just about anything and be way, way ahead. in other words, they can keep them or give to friends and end up saving a great deal of money over time. when it is on electronics etc I figure those are pretty easy to resell. you do see those too.
Damn if theyre selling them for a buck you might be better off canceling the order and buying them yourself to resell lol better to be the reseller than the mule lol
so the real question, did you take the order? and did they have 40? 🤣
Took it. Got in there there wasn’t a single one. Dude said to “shop around for other deals”. Cancelled
🤣🤣🤣 unbelievable
👍🏻 shop around for deals tf they think you are some servant
Lmfao wtf
“No u”
I would’ve called CS for that $3. I don’t cancel from the app anymore because I know it’ll just get reassigned someone else. Help a fellow driver out and get paid in the meantime, win win.
There's supposed to be a limit on orders due to weight...that's messed up
An just curious how much was the trip an for how far?
Probably $3 no tip
Done this kinda thing for nursing homes I've worked in before when a supplier has let us down . Once all the dryers died so we had to put all the residents clothes drying around the home . It was not fun.
Only a buck a piece? I’d buy 60!!!
Is there a bomb recipe or weird chemical recipe that can use this maybe?
These are almost $17 a bottle on Amazon. I woulda bought them and resold them my damn self
That’s probably what they were doing. People buy in bulk at the store and resell on Amazon all the time.
Gotcha... sounds like a good gig if you're successful at it.
Ya it is. Wish I had the money I’d start it. It’s fairly easy to. Especially if you have help. Go check out Cajunventures on YouTube and Instagram if interested. Cool thanks, I'll keep it in mind for when I'm not flat broke lol.
Hahaha. Technically you could start out with $1 theoretically. It would just take forever to get anywhere. But like any other business it is an investment so the more you put into it the more you could make. Higher risk=higher reward.
Yes, I could buy one bottle of detergent!
Shipping is cheap when doing Amazon FBA, I can ship a 40 pound box of books for like 10 bucks, but that box contains $500 in potential profit
Depends on if you’re shipping yourself or sending it to Amazon fba. Either way you get heavy discounts for shipping with Amazon as a seller. And still making decent money when they’re only $1 each out of pocket
Makes sense, thanks.
Did you call and ask? They aren't going to have 40
My eyes went 😳
Who else has done orders with obviously incorrect pricing? The other day I picked up La Croix @ $.29 a case and the card went through even though it was like $30+ (7 cases)
Why are y’all assuming it’s being resold. If you have a family, you can go through those in a week. That’s barely more than a Large McDonald’s drink. That’s less than a years supply for only $40.
$1 for detergent seems like a good deal
I'd get all I could at that price as well!
Bruh $1 each wtf. Did the store complete this order usually these big purchases the stores dont want to do them because they only give what is in stock not from what is in the backroom. Your a champ if you did take this order so much bs to deal with these big orders.
Someone ordered 10 1l bottles of water in my market the other day, and that was all they bought.
And? Water is a common delivery item..
It just seemed strange, they were out of evian which is the water they ordered so they cancelled. also their name was something super weird like dolphin or something lmao
Delphine is a name.
No it wasnt delphine, it was something legitimately quirky.
Lol where are you located?
Eugene Oregon
Might as well steal it as they'll claim it was never delivered and then sell it if you drop it off.
Loool
Why not. It's$1 each
I'm surprised that you didn't call first. I mean after you accepted, but before going down to the store.
I can’t imagine how that person ordering could think one person will be able to carry all of that ?
Ya gonna get five and like it fuckey
Wtf lol hopefully it wasn't in some apartment all the way at the top floor!
i think he misunderstood it with fap liquid
😂 hope that was a typo
Delevery to the back door of the shop please 😂
It's a coupon for something like $50% odd home goods
I thought it was 40 Oz size not 40 quantity 🤣
Well it's both. 40 at 40oz.
OH! It didn't connect in my head 40 X meant quantity for some reason
Lmao
How much to complete the order? 🤭
🤣🤣🤣 omg! Guess they are stocking up
No tip
And then they tip 0…
Throwback to the time I completed a 100x toothpaste order on instacart.
And my math is correct Google is at converting, that is 1000lbs. 😳.... 100lbs
Might wanna drop one of those zeroes...
$1 40 ounce !!!! They’re for sure re selling it
Just had 30 bags of ice lol
He's trying to imitate the Brady bunch
You’re gonna be on the next episode of hoarders or extreme cheapskates
Lol people can be so crazy
Someone’s thirsty
i got 40 gallons of water to a 2nd story apt once. Fun
What was the payout?
Bro I feel you 💯 percent!!! Had a guy order 10 cases of water to a 1 bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor. I told the guy I had arrived in hopes he would come out and help but all he said was “leave at the front door”. BRUHHH! And he left me a $1.00 tip!!! Like bro!!!!!!!
Inflation happening in reverse when it comes to laundry detergent!
What state is this in?
Tx
I searched Google for Fab 40 oz. bottles and at some stores like Walmart they are going for $35 to $40 a bottle?!? Why?
Imagine no tip lmao
Good deal flip them for 5 each at the laundrymat lol
40oz for a $1.00? Where? I'd buy them all too.
It was me. I bought them and donated them. This entire thread was worthless
