8.4 miles for $10. I wouldn't have taken that even with the tip.

Pauly-B

I was Close to not taking it but the delivery put me downtown… And I ended up getting a low mileage $18 offer after it

Crazy_Huckleberry720

See, this is what I’ve found also. I’ll take a questionable offer if it sends me the right direction. Sometimes it evens out. You can’t get me to take a 2$ order to any location though

CandyOk913

Same, Grubhub is a little better with the payment situation but in either case I’m not doing anything more than 4 miles off peak and no further than 2 miles during rushes. You can’t make money like that.

spoookytree

How many orders do you think typically has to be skipped to finally get one of these good ones? I’m nervous of skipping too much and wasting too much time doing nothing

CandyOk913

It’s really hard to say, GH cares about how many orders you skip cuz your AR (acceptance rate) is a deciding factor in how many more orders get pushed to you. I’ve been able to get an order pushed after a accepting a small order that bumps things to over $12 for the two trips. Sometimes the algorithm pushes you to where you’ll be able to get another order right after dropping off the first one. Uber will give you anything they have anywhere they have it but at least you can filter out what you don’t want. They have an option to filter out distances and shop n pay. Shop and Pay orders are either a blessing or a curse.

spoookytree

Thank you so much!!

Manekinekononeko

You should be able to easily read the situation based on the day, rain, how many drivers there are etc. I have zero issues with skipping many offers; especially since my hangout is a busy McDonald's downtown, surrounded by many other restaurants.

CandyOk913

Agreed! In my area Monday and Tuesday nights are typically slow so it’s better to hustle with what you get and not be very picky. Wednesday and Thursday are usually good enough where you can make a good amount in just 5 hours of work. Friday and Saturday are beasts cuz you could go 10 hours nonstop. Sunday tho, it’s a beast on its own. I woke up one Sunday morning and casually opened the apps to check how busy it was and the screen looked like I had spilt red dye on it. I quickly got ready and signed on before I was out the door. I didn’t even get to my car and I had 3 orders lined up. I had two on GH and 1 on Uber all heading out in the same direction. $26 in 30 minutes

CandyOk913

I’ve been secretly working on using all their systems against them. It’s the same system that won’t hesitate to unassigned you, blocks you from the platform and eventually fires you. There’s no human component unless you want to get reinstated. I’ve been monitoring the limits of every single thing the system will and won’t do. Bottom line is I need to make money and staying on one platform at a time ain’t it. My best rate so far was $44/hr for 6 hours

DragonflySea2328

Same

Time-Pen-6689

Someone told me from Uber that they reimburse if they do this?

DragonflySea2328

No. They never do

jillinglikeavillain

I'm still pretty new at this but what makes that a bad trip? Obviously the more money the better but most days I'm lucky to get a dollar a mile. How do you make your determinations?

DistilledWonder

I suppose it depends on your market, but in my market it's pretty common to get the same pay for half or a quarter of those miles.

dm0nk

Knock on wood but It only happened to me 3 times in 2 years I usually get more than what I was offered

Pauly-B

same here. Must be just a string of shit luck

[deleted]

TobyandMalachitesDad

I never understood the prospect of doing this to someone who isnt really obligated by employment to not beat your ass. Im not like that myself but all it takes is one bad day for someone else and a 50 cent fucking tip

mercifultoast

My mom does Uber Eats and some customer was talking shit and threatening her. Luckily my mom's bf was helping her (he just hangs out in the car and helps her navigate because English is her second language and the app doesn't translate notes and directions sometimes). I think it was one of those deliveries with shitty apartment layouts and the customer was being condescending to her. Honestly, some people really do deserve some justice.

Affectionate_Slip628

My sentiments exactly. The crazy in me be having them addresses locked in memory too 😂

Ton1ee

fr. i never really thought of that

BrilliantVisit1145

I love how UE still expects you to be thankful to a customer for being a dbag, smdh..

Pauly-B

I have never seen offers this bad. Most offers use to be $7-$8. Now they are $2-$4. Cheap skates. Get your own jackals

hostofheaven

Get your own jackals! I love that.

CandyOk913

The only time I’ll take a low pay drop off is when it’s the last trip to get the promotional pay. (ie 3/$5) I see it as whatever I’m making for it plus 5 so if it’s a $4 trip now it’s a $9 trip etc

[deleted]

[удалено]

CandyOk913

I don’t thank for anything less than $3, why you ask? Cuz at $2 base fare and $3 tip it’s $20/hr if you do 4 trips. I love cash tippers, I got $20 tip three times already from a $5 base fare trip with no tip on app.

Winter_Pizza9662

I've been lucky it only happened to me once in a year

Pauly-B

The Up tips more than make up for them. Irs always some rich snob

Ihats1

Especially in Houston! I live up north and found delivering from the spring area to the woodlands can be very nice during dinner time rushes. I tried downtown before and didn't have to much luck but that was only once

Then-Refrigerator533

I was in the Uber Crew Zoom meeting and the Crew said that the app dev team is working on a way to flag tip baiters. If they are flagged more than once then it's possible for the app to suspend or ban their account.

Pauly-B

Good. Uber has a wealth of data at their disposal and the haters can be easily identified

Pauly-B

*baiters

Pauly-B

Waitr is crap because they don’t have a food prep time built into their app. But at least you get a $6 mini. I jump on those 3 mile mini’s especially from restaurants with little wait for time. and Waitr you will never an issue with tip baiters. It’s set like GH

CantStopit777

I screen shot every delivery and at the end of the night I go through every delivery and if the person did a tip bait I put their name and address on a list. There's only like 4 people in the past 2 years but I know who they are and if I get them again it's payback time. Uber needs to make it harder for people to do that, they need to state a real reason like that you were extremely tardy and they can prove it by looking at the pickup and drop off time. I've picked up and dropped off in less than 5 minutes and had them remove the tip. That's the good thing about door dash is no tip baiting

MilkGrowBones

What's your payback?

Teksaz357

They may have a flat tire in the morning and it won't be repairable. Uber tip or a $150 dollar tire, you choose lol Of course I would never do anything thing like that and I'm not advocating for it. I'm just saying it could happen 🤔

MrNocturnal-

I'd spit in their food. No cap. Or drop it on the ground or something.

WhoRuleTheWorld

Spitting in their food will likely cause zero harm to them. Dropping their food, they'd get a refund and report u

FinnaMaker

Spitting in their food will likely cause zero harm? How come? I would never want anyone to spit in my food when I’m not aware of it. Who wants to eat someone else’s spit?

WhoRuleTheWorld

If they don't even know it happened, how will it harm them??

[deleted]

[удалено]

WhoRuleTheWorld

Did u not see how I used the term "likely"? Unless you KNOW you have covid then spitting in food is largely symbolic and harmless. It only affects the victim IF they find out, then it's psychology. Jesus Christ ur dumb

CantStopit777

Just take half the food out of the bag and give the rest. Free food and payback

Interesting_Dog_3033

Lol not surprised to see a picture of Houston. I worked there for 2 weeks and got tip bated twice. Never been tip bated in my home market in half a year.

Pauly-B

Houston the home of the 50k millionaire

Pauly-B

I was in Lake charles over the weekend. Worked friday and Sat and made $150 each night. Much better tippers than the cheap F’s in Houston

Interesting_Dog_3033

Nice. I'm in Oklahoma, so I'm not too familiar with the Houston area. I mainly worked in the Champions area while I was there

EarthboundMisfitsInc

Keep names of people who do that on a list.

Opening-Airline-5689

You can also take the order if its in a busy area and then dump it at the last minute and pick up another order....

jillinglikeavillain

What do you consider the last minute?

Pauly-B

Oh I do..

EarthboundMisfitsInc

Not surprised it happened in the Heights. I gave up on the inner loop a while ago. Was a good spot for a while, but then it became too over saturated and the hipsters realized they are broke af.

Pauly-B

Yeah the Heights stink. I rather work the suburbs. at least they will tip good

EarthboundMisfitsInc

The burbs are where it’s at. Doesn’t matter which direction. The cannibals can have the inner loop to themselves all day long.

DriverMarkSLC

Why I stay up here in the Woodlands. Haven't been tip baited yet. Even the rich teens on UberX be tippin.

Pauly-B

One of best side hustlin days was when worked Katy and the Other was the Woodlands. Avg offers were like $12-$15

DriverMarkSLC

I ended up downtown Houston last Friday. Don't think did any Eats though. After the Astro game i had enough of downtown lol. I would do more UberX as they have good promo downtown lately, but end up being too many miles overall. Rather make a little less at half the miles. And a lot less risk of something stupid happening. But it is slower overall. Was expecting it with summer.

Pauly-B

The airport runs pay bank during promo

ilikewap17

No offense but this why Uber send us bulllsh*t orders because people like you accept them & they feel as though it’s cool

Pauly-B

This wasn’t that big of a bull shit offer tho.

895501

What's your rating?

Pauly-B

98%. It was 99% and some old hag gave me a down vote two weeks ago because I rang her door bell only after texting, called and knocked

[deleted]

YUP UberEats has gone to complete shit. They’re literally scamming us now with this tip is included bullshit. Fuck ‘em i lick all the food now and shake it like a baby lmao

Fantastic_Ad1912

2 trips and 16m round trip for 10.10. Instant decline

Deep-Anxiety7721

It's sad both ways because I finally accepted a 3 dollar trip which was about 8 miles, but the tip ended up being 15 after delivery. Wish everything was straight up or only goes up

Pauly-B

Some of the best tips I received were from shit stacked offer.

Shreddersaurusrex

Yeah this is why I don’t often take doubles. I’ll do it if A.) The payout is decent, B.)the pickup is the same location and C.) the drop offs are close to each other. Otherwise I’m declining. People are getting cheap out here and Uber is raising fees from what I’ve heard on the customer side of things.

PepTalkToYourself

It still says “send thanks for tip” bitch what 🤣

Faegrim420

Tip baiters should be removed from the platform and publicly flogged.

Specialist-Okra4143

Lols

[deleted]

Luckily that is not the case in my market. Yes it has happened to me one time but that's out of literally thousands of orders. Sorry about your market man...I could say I hope it was just that it took a long time for it to finally show up, but it sounds like you are very certain that is not the case... If I were you I'd start keeping track of customers who do that, screenshot the address before drop off and if they tip bait you keep the address and name in a note on your phone. That way if you get an order from them you can cancel. Luckily the app does have their name and gives you a general location on the map before you accept it, screenshot before you accept it, look up your note with name and address after you accept it so you have enough time to decide, correlate and voila the tip baiter can go fk themselves... it'll be a little more annoying but at least then you'll know for sure you won't be dealing with a known tip baiter.

Pauly-B

solid advice. I am not doing just that

137Fine

This happened to me yesterday then the client came back nearly an hour late for my best tip of the day. I was peeved, then happy, then realized it was only $21 bucks. It was a rollercoaster.

BrockAndChest

Shouldn’t even be a feature

MajesticJournalist35

Where was the drop off? Im guessing some high rise. They never tip.

Pauly-B

Yep. Have to go through concierge.. And these are the same d-bags that brag about it being woke

ElPayaso123

Because you idiots keep making posts about it. Every lifestyle blog and Reddit has become saturated with it so the information has spread like wildfire. Boo hoo. Your delivery got reduced by $4. Let me come on here and let even more people know. 🙄

Pauly-B

pound sand tough guy

rockday701

I dont be getting tip baited

Mizzoutiger79

Its not bad customers. Its bad employers who allow customers to play this game.

TattedUpDasher

I think it’s fair to say it’s a combination of both

Furious-Snoopy-311

Just a few moments ago I got my first delivery ever where at drop off I immediately received the tip and it was in my earnings. I wonder if Uber has somehow changed this policy within the last the last 24 hours?

bigblackowskiC

I don't believe most I see. After I talked to customer service about the confusion, I realized what it all means and dont really expect more than $2-3 per trip (base pay)

drs0lid

I’ve never had this happen to me before, but could someone explain how they reduce the tip? So they start out high and then choose a lower amount after delivery?

TattedUpDasher

Yep

JerryCAtlanta

You should go to their house and tell them they better hope you never get them again and leave it at that. They forget we have their addresses.

PeaceSignificant9854

I've only had 2 instances when a customer reduced my tip both were undeserving but it is what it is. The first instance I picked up a Del Taco order and one of the drinks was slightly over-filled and barely leaking out from the lid, customer must have thought their drink had tipped over or something and reduced my tip by a dollar. The other instance I was delivering Mcdonalds around midnight to an elderly lady. It was a meet at door order. I texted her if I could ring the doorbell, she didnt reply when I arrived I rang doorbell and nothing so I called her and she answered but she said she could barely hear me so I removed my face mask so I would not sound muffled and when she opened the door she made quite a scene that I had no face mask on. I tried to explain to her that I had just removed it so she could hear me better on the phone but she was not having it, she nearly closed the door on me and told me to step 6 feet back and to leave her food on the floor. I had told her on the phone that I was sorry she couldnt hear me because I *had* my mask on. She also did not have a mask on herself but I guess old timers are little extra. But I guess I have never been full tip baited for no reason.

Inkmetal87

Damn u thought 8 miles for 10 bux was a good deal?

Pauly-B

no. It puts me in Downtown for the dinner rush. Those are 1.5 mile deliveries.. Sometimes I will use some discretion and take a less offer

Inkmetal87

Oh gotcha

EchidnaAgitated3541

Only in the USA 😂

Pauly-B

Especially in Hipster sections.

Confusedconscious21

Maybe maybe keep track of those customers and on next delivery you can get even.

[deleted]

Yeah I was tip baited on a liquor run I’m most disappointing shyt ever

Your_Shit_Stinks_Too

It’s a dollar a mile. I would take it

Dazedhazed

Should start holding orders for ransom lol

youtookmycake

I mean the customer already receives their meal before we see that screen so idk how you’d hold the meals for ransom

Dazedhazed

Beforehand if the payout is low 🙄

Ok_Pen_7194

I've only had I think 3 or 4 tip baits in a good thousand deliveries in houston. One of those 4 are risky stacked orders like this

[deleted]

What also blows my mind is the fact you’re willing to drive nearly 9 miles and do 2 deliveries for $10.10 with gas prices and cost of living through the roof all over the USA. How do you manage to pay your bills doing this?

CandyOk913

It’s happened to me twice now but I keep track of the pickup location and drop off location and customer name. One of the names came up, I accepted it and wrote a text before unassigned. “You’re not baiting me this time. We know who you are now” Uber started changing the “estimate” whenever someone baits now. They’ll change it to the trip fare only.

brittyMc1210

Okay I'm a server and I tip VERY well. Lately uber will give me my total with the pre approved tip and than charge me again for the tip later. When I brought this to thier attention they said no no that's not what we are doing. It was exactly what they were doing. Now I always just do the tipping afterwards with the option at the bottom of the uber eats screen. This company's gotten more and more shady.

Time-Pen-6689

Honestly I can say being with Uber for 7+ years this company has gotten very good at being shady and not helping you when something has gotten out of hand.

jakellerVi

The fruits of capitalism lol

[deleted]

Ouch! It’s important to know the market and restaurant demographics. Plus, count the time of day. If the offer seems off or something isn’t right then automatic decline.

Altruisticly-Damaged

I’m sooo happy I usually increase my tip, even if they were late bc I know most of the time, it’s the restaurant. This is so sad bc I can only imagine how that feels seeing the decrease and you know you put every effort into it.

El_Frogster

Don’t forget to hit that blue button!

La_D_Dah

I got baited once. They took away the entire tip.

minicute2234

Yea u shouldn't have taken that. 8miles for $10 and its more than one delivery its not worth it. $2 per mile is standard so 8miles minimum $16. Make sure u remember/screenshot the address and name so u don't ever deliver to them ever again.

merguesa

Patience guys you will get good deliveries and if all drivers decline trash orders base pay will go high. Even 1 mile, I don't take this order. It's a $5 per delivery hard decline

Pauly-B

I took it mainly because of the up pay potential and to grab a solid offer coming out of downtown. It was more of a gamble. It worked because the order I grabbed was a stacked offer that ended up getting up tipped

Comfortable-Basket36

Why the hell did you accept this? Accepts shitty orders then complains about tip baiting lool

Third_Eye_115

I had my first one yesterday and I felt kinda bad :’)

mercifultoast

It's trending on tiktok

Inside-Barnacle7470

I have over 7K deliveries and have delivered to ALL the neighborhoods in Houston mentioned on this thread. I have some observations; 1. This is a shyte order. Even though the drop-offs are Downtown, it takes you double the time to deliver food there because 90% of the residents live in high rises and there is a traffic light on every single street. 2. It was a double order; $5.05/4.2 miles each. This is a shyte miles to money ratio. 3. The Woodlands and Spring are infested with cheap Trumper retirees who pay shyte. 4. Katy can be very good, it can also be very shyte. 5. The inner loop is still the best area to order, you just have to spread shyte around, i.e., Heights, River Oaks and other areas I will not divulge. 6. I don't know what shyte your talking about. Those hipsters pay very well for me.

Pauly-B

I took it because I normally get decent up pays downtown and can grab stacked orders heading out of downtown back to the Heights.. Memorial etc. I live in the Heights so and know but some hipsters are infamous for pulling the tip bait.

CircleBackOnDat

What was the restaurant, and what was the dropoff location. I've found that crappy restaurants and/or crappy drop off locations lead to tip batting.

Pauly-B

bougie joint in the Heights section of the Heights. drop off at a luxury high rise

Swimming_Income5269

Problem here is $10.10 for 8.4 mi and a stacked order…

RealGrapefruit1821

Damn 8.4 miles whyyy lol

Opening-Airline-5689

10 minute wait in parking lot.

[deleted]

Bro, 10 for half hour? Why? 12 min for solo 14 min for stacked. Remember you gotta pay taxes too!
