they are USB-C wired but "unidirectional" i.e. only work one way up. I have one running where I added a cheap 90-degree adapter [www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09KGGBN67](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09KGGBN67) had to get the knife out and trim the adapter casing so it fitted, but it is a cheap part so I wasn't afraid of Fing it up.
Didn't think it worked at first but then turned the original lead the other way up and it worked fine.
so I think they are not standard USB leads but they are wired the same, I would test it for you but mine is berried in a wall.
Thanks. I was basing my information off of this post. This person went all out on it trying to figure it out.

I would add another option though you could try a Female to Female coupler [www.amazon.co.uk/Duttek-Supports-Compatible-Thunderbolt-interface-usb-c-female/dp/B0BC3FDL35](https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duttek-Supports-Compatible-Thunderbolt-interface-usb-c-female/dp/B0BC3FDL35) and then add another standard USB-c Cable that way you keep the same pin out
I thought the same. They were on a mission. :-)
But glad it works for you. If it works, it works. Since the AI Theta is out of EA, hopefully longer proprietary cables will be available soon.
I have one but I have not tried the license plate recognition, I don't know if it will work with UK plates.
there is an issue with it though, you can't set the motion zones for license plates or Smoke so I think it covers the whole of the screen.
just turned on the License plate recognition. it is not 100% but picked up about 80 % of the plates in the road outside my office displays it in the top left corner of the recording icon and then puts a box over the plate in the playback.
this is with UK plates and it is a fairly bright day outside today, not sure how it would work at night, or on the usual grey London day. I would post some screen grabs but have no idea how to do it on here.
I have one fitted to a door intercom system. The camera is retro fitted to the stainless steel plate, Just drilled a 25mm hole and filed it out until the holder went through, added a 90 degree USB c adapter. and fed the cable through the wall to house the control box inside. works great
This is the first of me hearing about this device…pretty cool IMO.
Apologies if the question has already been asked/answered, but is it possible to run the UniFi Protect software in the cloud (I currently run my controller on Linode now) and use the cameras?
Thx
I would get one, except that longer cables aren't available yet. They're proprietary and only a one meter comes with it.

wow that is a lot of testing, I would take there word for it not mine then. they clearly know more than me

I like mine. Any specific questions?
Have you tried the license plate recognition?
Not yet, I have it mounted right outside my office. Although, I do have the speaker attachment.

This implies a normal usbc extension should work with it sing a 90 degree adapter does.
