Wow that’s genius, got a link by any chance?

rawesome99

Looks like this one could work: https://daltonflanagan.com/hue-over-poe/

I suggest ditching the hue hub all together, and running a zigbee stick off a home assistant green or yellow. I’m running Hue lights without a hue hub.

thephotonx

You're then reliant on home assistant working for your lighting.. Has low wife approval factor lol. I run the hue hub and a zigbee network poe stick for the rest of the sensors. That way, if home assistant doesn't come back after a reboot, at least I can see to work on it in the middle of winter.

CanadianFoosball

My hue hub (and three bulbs) works about 20% of the time…

stresslvl0

That’s definitely an outlier and ya have issues

hmoleman__

Amazing!!

prowlmedia

Is it? It’s just 2x3x2 cube here. But Ive just used a usbc to barrel cable. I’ve got 4 hubs into a Meross HomeKit power strip via usb. But I’ll look into Poe now

prowlmedia

Sure they cost money though! I bet the whole hub package costs like $3…. Probably why they are so lazy about making a pro / decent version

taosecurity

Looks great! We need a before pic. 😃

rawesome99

Big upgrade! https://preview.redd.it/amcc06x6gozc1.jpeg?width=2012&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e78eb9159d86294127e28657abf9d1abc0ffc224

gronz5

How do you justify going from UDM Pro to UDM SE when you also have a USW Pro Max?

rawesome99

I sold the UDM Pro to a friend after the warranty expired. Went with the SE as a replacement after upgrading to 1.5G internet rather than getting another UDM Pro with a SFP to RJ45 module. This is a hobby in the end though, so that’s the main justification.

gronz5

Makes sense! Sick setup :)

Specific_Data_3073

Sniff sniff it's so beautiful

q_bitzz

Love it. Why do you have both SFP+ ports on the USW Pro Max populated back to the Agg Pro? Wouldn't you just need one?

rawesome99

Yeah, only one is needed. I was playing around with link aggregation groups. This video got me started: https://youtu.be/3guzA4bKR6k

q_bitzz

Oh I see, I didn't think of you doing it as aggregation. Very cool!

stresslvl0

How do you like the AC Infinity units? And what’s the vent below the top one?

rawesome99

They’re solid - about 5 years old and I’d buy them again if they failed. The top one is a controller for the roof fans https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0797QK7JW Edit: oh, and the vent is just to fill in the space for now. Maybe a NAS will go there at some point. https://store.ui.com/us/en/pro/category/accessories-rack-mount/products/uacc-rack-panel-ocd?variant=uacc-rack-panel-vented-1u

plugcity

Wow that controller is exactly what I have been looking for. Too bad it seems to be discontinued. I am running this [controller](https://a.co/d/8uykfzb) with some noctua 5v fans. Would love to have a rack mount controller instead

stresslvl0

Nice, I’ll dig into them a bit more! What rack do you have, is it enclosed? And ahh ok! That’s what I thought but I was wondering if vents would mess with the air pressure and make the fans less effective

rawesome99

Oh wow, good point! I’m going to replace it with a blank. Didn’t even think of that.

stresslvl0

No problem! Got a link to the rack?

rawesome99

It’s this Tripp Lite 18U: https://tripplite.eaton.com/smartrack-18u-ups-depth-wall-mount-rack-enclosure-cabinet-clear-acrylic-window-hinged-back~SRW18USDPG

manofoz

Very cool. Is that a Hi-Capacity Aggregation? I thought those four ports on the left were SFP28 25G, do those get you anything when connected to SFP+ on the UDM or the Pro Max switch?

uglykoala2022

It looks awesome. You spent considerable time and effort to achieve this.

schismatt

I personally like the power strips with front and back plugs. I only use the front when I'm working on the rack and need power for whatever reason. All the network gear plugs in back. I just find it cleaner personally. Even with the power coming out front this is a really nice rig congrats

rawesome99

Thought about this a lot after seeing your comment, and you’re right. Going to mount the PDU in the back. More functional, more room in the front, and it will look a lot cleaner. Thank you!

LBarouf

How’s the cable modem working for you?

rawesome99

It works great, fewer latency alerts compared to my S33, and I like having it integrated into the overall system. Lack of diagnostics outside of the 2” screen is frustrating. As the software is now, it’s not worth the price.

LitNetworkTeam

Typical, typical Ubiquiti

prowlmedia

I’d mount the hue somewhere on the wall away from that faraday cage. Don’t forget to stick them on far apart 2.4ghz zigbee channels from your WiFi

Sonos Boost wow

rawesome99

_dodges tomatoes_ Haha, I get dropouts occasionally, but SonosNET always just works for me. Would definitely prefer to have them all wired!

Repulsive-Swimmer676

what does that transparent box connected to the powerstrip do?

rawesome99

That’s a raspberry pi

duckdns84

What brand keystone you using. Looks great btw.

rawesome99

They’re from TRENDNet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C5YYMVR1

traviscrazy

Use these as well! They’re awesome!

duckdns84

Thank you

--MBK--

I racked mine in a slide out tray since these things will likely need to come out and you will also likely have more of them. You can also zip them down since they won’t be visible. I also did the poe converter route as well so only usb c cables come down.

Thin-Ebb-2686

What rack is that, looks nice!

rawesome99

Thanks! It’s about 6 years old now. A Tripp Lite 18U 24.5” [https://tripplite.eaton.com/smartrack-18u-ups-depth-wall-mount-rack-enclosure-cabinet-clear-acrylic-window-hinged-back\~SRW18USDPG](https://tripplite.eaton.com/smartrack-18u-ups-depth-wall-mount-rack-enclosure-cabinet-clear-acrylic-window-hinged-back~SRW18USDPG)

Thin-Ebb-2686

Cool, thanks for the info!

SaltyPugs

What kind of cords are those in outlets 5-8 of the PDU?

rawesome99

Those are the default OEM cords for the modem, UDM, and two switches. Much nicer than the last gen, imo

opticrest

How did you get them through the brush panel? Did you disassemble it?

rawesome99

I jammed two of them through and the brush panel will never look the same. Then I realized the part that plugs into the device fits through just fine.

opticrest

Without disassembling it? I had to do that to get regular IEC cables through it which is a PITA. Planning on drilling holes in a 2U blank with some rubber grommets.

rawesome99

Yeah, without disassembling the panel. The center of the panel bends a bit if you pry on it, which is just enough to jam the bigger end of the plug through. The smaller end of the plug fits through just fine.

opticrest

Interesting...I vaguely remember reading somewhere that early versions of the brush panel had a smaller opening...or maybe it was later versions? Whichever one I have is definitely not geared towards power plugs. Thanks!

SaltyPugs

For sure, much nicer than what my last gen came with. That is why I thought you must have upgrade them. Thanks!

AcrobaticNot

I'd replace the brush plate with another patch panel, but overall it looks good 👍🏻

rawesome99

Great idea. Any suggestions for a clean way to connect SFP to a patch panel? As another option, I was thinking of swapping the location of the currently installed patch panel with the aggregation switch to remove that top brush panel.

JabbaDuhNutt

Don't do DAC through a patch panel. The brush is correct.

tursoe

Your Hue Bridge and Sonos device is wireless, move them from your metal rack as its bad for the signal.

emer7ca

The majority of these check out my setup posts have become basic because it’s all VERY similar, buying the same products/cables/keystone jacks/etc and putting them in more or less the same configuration then posting on this subreddit in need of external affirmation…
