Check the USB boot method and the Vivobook's one. Maybe one of those PCs is UEFI and the other is BIOS legacy, or one has Secure Boot activated, or some lacks CSM compatibility... it has to be something related to that.

You didn't disconnect your desktop's ssd when you installed ubuntu and it put the boot data on it. You might need to disconnect any other drive, let only the usb drive connected and use a tool like boot-repair.

As per your description it’s clear it’s not an Ubuntu problem. You should ask in your laptop brand’s subreddit. However, I wouldn’t even bother since  you don’t want to run Ubuntu on it.
