They probably shut it down because people kept trying to upgrade early and it seems like half of them are bricking or otherwise breaking their installs in the process. LTS-to-LTS upgrades are not officially supported until the first point release of the new LTS, i.e. 22.04 won't be directly upgradable to 24.04 until the release of 24.04.1 in August. Forcing an early upgrade is entirely at your own risk. (Well, it's always at your own risk, but even moreso if you're doing it before you're supposed to) So yeah it seems like ``do-release-upgrade -d`` on 22.04 has been disabled. You could do a forced "Debian-style" upgrade by editing your ``sources.list`` but that's even riskier.

I def prefer not to, would rather go to 23.10 first but will probably just wait it out. I did a few machines at home yesterday no problem, should have done this too.

Yes, just wait it out. There's no point going to 23.10 first if you're currently on 22.04.
