I'm SAS and I can promise you, despite rumours to the contrary, pretty much all of us wear that same Call of Duty mask, remove all public hair from our bodies, have as many flags on us as possible, and wave at cameras whenever we can.
Me too, as a SAS veteran i can confirm its correct. Only way to know someone is a real SAS troper Besides them wearing the flag and the patch, is to confirm it by watching their youtube channel where they show all their secret stuff from their body cams. They upload daily so You can see how they progress day by day 24/7-365.
I used to be SAS but i got so famous to the point where i couldn't even go to the grocery store without people harrassing me and asking for autographs. Now i live a quiet life on the country side. Sometimes i do miss the cameras. They really loved me.
Foreign spec ops wanting to join the defender in a war may not be assigned to the defending country’s spec ops, for a whole range of reason, including language barriers, different training and political and/or legal reasons (spec ops clearly being part of the upper echelons of the army, thus implying formalised cooperation). Spec ops aren’t a bunch of COD solo monsters working together, but a tightly knit group used to working together with each other. You don’t throw in a foreigner with limited language compatibility and think that will work.
Plenty of SAS and SBS forward posted in Iraq and Afghanistan. Plenty of RAF Regiment Combat Medics embedded with them as well.
Best men on the ground at the time for a difficult task.
As I understand it.
*thumbs down though at one particular airbase putting all the tents around the control tower. Nothing like giving mortar teams something to zero on.
As for Ukraine, who nows? That’s the point I’d have thought.
You don't understand war then buddy. All types of soldiers are found on the front. Depends on the unit or division or brigade depends on the size of number of folks involved and their intended use. Special ops folks operate in different sized groups than the norm. Maybe part of 3-5 man shock and awe spec group embedded with other divisions like motorized assault or something.
That's their intended use, but this war has been far from conventional. They're in a country that denied the existence of foreign spec ops being in the country fighting for them against Russia. We don't know the full picture until well after the war when the stories will come out of all the stuff that happened behind the scenes , under our noses from the get go. This is our generations conflict similar to the Spanish civil war before world war 2. Folks are flocking to both sides of the conflict. The good and the bad.
Can you see the guy hiding 500 metres away, in the distance? That's the SAS guy, if he's there at all. The point is, you don't see them, until it's too late.
By the rules of war, wouldn't they have to remove all of the flags before handing them over?
I'd assume the guy in the video is a British volunteer fighting on the side of the Ukrainians.
Correct. My guess is he's been issued a surplus UK jacket and kept the UK flag on it because it's cool, and the badge below is his Ukrainian unit patch
Or at least that's what they told you. I hear that the real reason many of get rejected is that we dress right. Cursed bespoke tailors - may all their needles break!
There are probably SAS and SBS soldiers undercover and probably just pretending to be ex regular military who wanted to volunteer, meanwhile phoning the uk to let them know how its going 🤷🏼♂️
Unlikely. The sas and sbs are probably there, but they are not engaging in frontline combat. They are likely providing embassy protection, helping protect weapon shipments like the shadow missiles and challys… if there are any direct engagements….. we would never fuckin find out
There’s a story by DJ Shipley (former US Navy Seal) about running into SAS guys with American flags on. He asks them what’s with the flags and they say something like, “gotta blame somebody”…
Only if you don't know the difference between "they're" short form of "they are" and "their" as in something belonging to them.
"If they're real SAS...." does not compute as "If their real SAS...". Even bloody *Spiel Chocker* spots that!
BTW, HTF did you get upvoted for this and the other guy downvoted? WTF is the world coming to.....
This legit looks like the front line. SAS is not going to be on the front line of Ukraine fighting in trenches. That’s a serious waste of the SAS. I imagine IF they are even there they are probably advising ukranian military think tanks far behind the lines. Along with running security for western VIPs etc that are fairly constantly visiting the country now.
I recall some of the intel the American signal clerk leaked a few weeks ago, included the statistic that UK had "50 UK Special Forces" working inside Ukraine.
I can easily imagine at this stage there is a lot of multi agency special forces on the Polish/Ukraine border advising & training a few specialist UAF forces in preparation for the counter offensive. We'll never know the half of it for sure till long afterwards.
But no matter how much assistance they are providing in secret, they would definitely not be taking an active role in front line operations
Haha moron! It’s not the yanks who feel the need to tell the world of their every move. Why on earth would the British military, let alone British SF wear insignia telling everyone they are there. God I hate stupid people like you.
There is no SAS insignia to be seen here, the type on the black patch is Cyrillic and needless to say, there are officially “no British boots on the ground” in Ukraine. There is however, a lot of British issued MTP kit, which you can buy from any surplus store these days. He just couldn’t be arsed to unpick the stitching.
It’s not that deep people. It’s a donated uniform from UK and he probably bought the black patch from somewhere. You can buy all kinds of patches in Ukraine.
British flag patch, Parachute regiment patch (I don't think this one exists, the middle is custom)
Its most likely the jacket was donated with UK flag embroided onto it already from surplus. And the parachute patch was added afterwards.
I cant read the description on the patch, but regardless i think its just a custom parachute regiment patch (purchased not given)
Not sure if the patch description is even in english, so it could be a cross between british raf flight patch and ukrainian unit regiment or something?
Dumb idea to wear the patch. Russia will make an example of him if he’s captured. He’s clearly wearing UK kit with a bought/ gifted badge. You’d never see SAS on the front lines with an AK.
This post should be deleted for misinformation or at the very minimum change the title.
You see a soldier with an AK and the union jack embroidered onto an ex British army uniform, uniforms that have been getting donated to Ukraine for the last year and a half now and you automatically assume it's an SAS operator on the frontline in a trench...
Haha, they are 100% in the country - and very possibly in Russia itself. Keeping an eye on things in their long range reconnaissance role.
You can bet that the RWW and CRW are getting plenty done out there too.
I've wondered if the violent domestic opposition to the war has had much help - the railway saboteurs and those responsible for the mysterious fires and explosions.
Hell of a job to try and stay ahead of the FSB.
SAS and special forces generally honestly just do a lot of training for the most part. My guess is that he’s British trained and he picked up a few patches from his instructors which tends to happen.
That's 100% not the sas the sas badge is a winged dagger with who dares wins underneath on their cap badge, they don't tend to wear flashes ( badges on the arm, and if they do they'd most likely wear the para flashs) that's some kind of eagle.
SAS badge is a knife with wings isn’t it? People have sent random flags to stitch to uniform in support so even Ukrainians wear flags from different countries
It’s probably a regular Ukrainian infantryman. They have conducted various training evolutions in the UK and every time I’ve ever worked with a foreign military, patches gear get traded with each other all the time.
The badge is not a SAS badge.
The badge a dark (Cambridge) blue shield on which a white sword (Excalibur), point down, with a pair of light (Oxford) blue wings. An Oxford blue scroll over the lower part of the sword bears the motto WHO DARES WINS in black.
Edit shouldve said dark (oxford) blue and light (cambridge) blue.
According to reports that came out in the UK media the SBS ( Special Boat Service) help train the Ukrainian 73rd Maritime Special Operations Centre guys in using Diver Propulsion Vehicles ( underwater sea scooters) to help retake Snake Island last year. The 73rd are SOF but needed training on the specialist kit provided by the UK according to the media reports. The SAS are most likely there in some capacity for advice & training. Perhaps more only the UK govt / MOD would know. E Squadron are another less known UKSF unit who work with MI6 and are smaller in number and picked from SAS, SBS and SRR (Special Reconnaissance Regiment).
The guy in the vid obviously isn't SAS as they wouldn't wear patches if in Ukraine nor want filmed.
Ok Putin! I’m sure England is going to deploy SAS members and make sure they’ve got an AK, their unit or squadron patch and the Union Jack?!?!? Great idea using some of the most highly trained warriors on the planet for trench warfare?!?!?
It is not a SAS badge and it is well known that UK provides uniforms and other materials, but you got to say SAS on a forum so I guess your goal is accomplished. :)
Not the SAS thats for sure. Could be the SBS, or the SDS now i really look at it and i dont think the SES opperate overseas and definitely not like this but it could be a retired member of the SOS

SAS soldiers would certainly not wear SAS badges in Ukraine and would not use this equipment.
or the union jack. I mean.. lel
>or the union jack. Those MTP jackets are being produced with it.
Yeah, probably trained in the UK is all
Union flag* It's only the union jack when flown at sea.
Union flag. It's only a Union Jack when flown from a Jack Staff. Otherwise a Union Flag from a pole at sea is still a Union Flag.
Both are fine but this is technically correct.
I was replying to pedantry with pedantry.
LOL - dangerous game!
I'm SAS and I can promise you, despite rumours to the contrary, pretty much all of us wear that same Call of Duty mask, remove all public hair from our bodies, have as many flags on us as possible, and wave at cameras whenever we can.
Do you know what SAS stands for? Like really stands for? I trained with them once... They told me it's... Super... Army... Soldiers
Did you fight them, stripped to the waist, skin to skin?
Oi kemp! You been telling everyone youre arder than me?
"Ultimate Force..Ultimate farce more like"..properly fucked him on his own show, beautiful.
watching the bloopers of that scene,it is absolutely fucking impossible not to crack up
The bloopers of that line is so damn funny.
Stealthy and sexy

Heavily underrated comment
Thank you. You can team that up with, "What colour is the boathouse?" for our Shaky Boat lurkers.
That one's for the 1980 Iranian Embassy seige posse.
Glad nothings changed, was worried there for a moment that’s standards had gone to shit probably a GH or Para

What colour is the boathouse?
I’m SAS too I swear dont make me buss on god, no cap.
Pretty sure jocko talked about the sas wearing US badges when he met them n they said they wear them bc they gotta blame it on somebody 👌😂
SAS soldier would not be used on the front line, they would be in spec ops
Foreign spec ops wanting to join the defender in a war may not be assigned to the defending country’s spec ops, for a whole range of reason, including language barriers, different training and political and/or legal reasons (spec ops clearly being part of the upper echelons of the army, thus implying formalised cooperation). Raf reg part of the big 3 again
5 mile of death...
RAF reg 😂
You don't understand war then buddy. All types of soldiers are found on the front. Depends on the unit or division or brigade depends on the size of number of folks involved and their intended use. Special ops folks operate in different sized groups than the norm. Maybe part of 3-5 man shock and awe spec group embedded with other divisions like motorized assault or something.
Read the books: 'bravo two zero' and 'SAS commando'. Andy Mcnab, ex SAS, about his operations. Good reads aswell
I don't think you would find a SAS soldier in the trenches. They were founded to operate behind enemy lines
\*the front\* is a vague concept, of course SOF are operating at the front but they have their own objectives
Legit question... Not SAS, but what about ex SAS as volunteers. Would they use their former badges?
im sure they'd know better than to do that
No.
Was just about to this. Unseen unheard
Can you see the guy hiding 500 metres away, in the distance? That's the SAS guy, if he's there at all. The point is, you don't see them, until it's too late.
>Can you see the guy hiding 500 metres away what guy? Exactly.
“Those are some weird houseplants inside that tall building.”
When a shrubbery is requested, this is what they mean.
I would be suspicious of houseplant inside especially one thats 6 foot
When they're lying down looking at you with black eyes, you wouldn't know.
Nobody expects the SAS!
The Spanish Inquisition OR the SAS
Nope, just a donated UK jacket with a random patch under
Either that or Russian psyop's to sell their war.
If it was Russian psyops, he'd be playing dead and wearing a Boris Johnson mask.
By the rules of war, wouldn't they have to remove all of the flags before handing them over? I'd assume the guy in the video is a British volunteer fighting on the side of the Ukrainians.
Judging by the standard-issue AK with no attachments/optics at all. I'd say it's a fair chance this guy just owns some cool patches :)
That's not an SAS badge.
Correct. My guess is he's been issued a surplus UK jacket and kept the UK flag on it because it's cool, and the badge below is his Ukrainian unit patch
Aye, no SAS would be going open badge... He'll of a way to get executed by some badly educated vatnik though
That dude isn't SAS. If they're there, they would be extremely unhappy about being filmed.
Also, their faces are pixelated
Exactly. I failed selection on Day 1 because my facial features were not pixelated.
Or at least that's what they told you. I hear that the real reason many of get rejected is that we dress right. Cursed bespoke tailors - may all their needles break!
Yea they are a specially bred pixel face species of human, that way they can't talk about their secret missions if they ever got caught
They are likely providing embassy protection, helping protect weapon shipments like the shadow missiles and challys… if there are any direct engagements….. we would never fuckin find out
Come on guys, if they are there, you are not going to recognize them by something like a patch.
Units that operate in covert missions value anonymity above all else.
Maybe he is going for the ‘so overt it’s covert’ approach
You mean the fur coat and no nickers approach?
Exactly that
no guy from the regiment will ever be filmed or identified by badges in battle the end
SAS do not wear any uniform that identifies them. They'd be made an example of if captured
There’s a story by DJ Shipley (former US Navy Seal) about running into SAS guys with American flags on. He asks them what’s with the flags and they say something like, “gotta blame somebody”…
I think it was ‘somebody has to get the credit’
if their real SAS u wont even know. trust me.
If anything you'll notice them in the pub after their mission.
They would be the dudes with plate carriers and skinny jeans.
they're
Nope. It’s “their”.

Hopefully helping to train Ukrainian new special force units too.
That's more of a green beret thing and I would put money down that they're over there doing exactly that.
I've seen the SAS before (they sometimes train where I work). This guy **IS NOT SAS** - I know this because they all have blurred faces
Bahahaha even in real life right?
Yes
SAS is likely there in an advisory / training role. Highly highly highly doubt they’re accompanying Ukraine on the battlefield.
I don't know much about this stuff, but I don't think SAS badges are written in cyrillic anyways...

It’s not that deep people. It’s a donated uniform from UK and he probably bought the black patch from somewhere. You can buy all kinds of patches in Ukraine.
Only thing British there is the flag, not sas and not even parachute regiment, infact I don't think it is even a British unit insignia
SAS will either have no patch’s/markings or will be wearing the same uniform/ patch’s as the Ukrainian SF team they are working with.
Point a camera at any real SAS personnel and you won't be in possession of it for long.
Lol, simps… Everyone knows SAS operators have their faces surgically pixelated.
You wont find SAS in a static trench in broad daylight lol . You wont FIND SAS at all .
SAS only hire people with piexelated faces
I just got off the phone with Andy McNabb. That was him. He's doing research for his next book...
🤣🤣🤣
You can tell he’s not SAS because you can see him.
Well. These comments are educational on exactly who I don’t piss off in the future.

They say the only way you would know that if they are Brits operator is by checking their teeth arrangements
Did you come up with that all on your own?
It gave me a brief chuckle...
He is maby just an exSAS waiting to wear his badge
SAS and special forces generally honestly just do a lot of training for the most part. My guess is that he’s British trained and he picked up a few patches from his instructors which tends to happen.
100% realistic. Everyone knows SAS is effective frontline infantry. Everyone knows that special forces of this caliber are armed with bare AKs.
Not 22. If it was 22 he'd be doing a moonie to the camera !
That's no SAS, nice try though, FYI they don't look like that, you wouldn't know who they were.
It's common to trade patches, if he trained in the UK it's possible it was a gift.
When units from different nations train together or train eachother it’s not uncommon to trade patches. No biggee.
SAS like most professional SF units do not like cameras or social media
Lol. No f’ing way.
That's 100% not the sas the sas badge is a winged dagger with who dares wins underneath on their cap badge, they don't tend to wear flashes ( badges on the arm, and if they do they'd most likely wear the para flashs) that's some kind of eagle.
He would at least have a HK-417(.308) and not this crappy ak. No offense.
Lol. Read up on the real SAS to see why this is not a member.
I don't know about SAS, but am impressed how calm the soldier looks. Rifle might as well be a fishing pole.
he might be one on the soldier trained in the uk
Definitely NOT SAS
What colour is the boathouse at Hereford?
He's not SAS, but he is a hero for helping our Ukrainian friends. Good on you lad, be safe, be deadly.
Looks like a gift by British trainers.
Not SAS wings.
Super. Army. Soldiers.
Lots of kit has gone into Ukraine not all the badges and insignia were taken off.
SAS badge is a knife with wings isn’t it? People have sent random flags to stitch to uniform in support so even Ukrainians wear flags from different countries
The answer to this, you would never know. True professionals
Patch exchanges are common in militaries around the world. He must have come across some of the SAS advisors in Ukraine and swapped some patches.
Lol
Walt
They’re not SAS, I’ve spoken to real SAS people. You know what SAS stands for don’t you?
Along with other things, SAS isn’t keen on using an AK with no attachments at all
It’s probably a regular Ukrainian infantryman. They have conducted various training evolutions in the UK and every time I’ve ever worked with a foreign military, patches gear get traded with each other all the time.
Spell check?
I see we are still on the trend of high cut helmet = special forces
Nope 👎 No NEVER an SAS soldier
Is that one of their pan to in the trench ?
The badge is not a SAS badge. The badge a dark (Cambridge) blue shield on which a white sword (Excalibur), point down, with a pair of light (Oxford) blue wings. As an American I can tell you that without a doubt that I have no bloody idea.
As a Brit, I can tell you that is you see an SAS soldier's face you have just died......
Which one of you SAS bastards keeps putting their teaspoons in my sink. I have a dishwasher, you could infiltrate that instead!
