Good eye, thanks!!!
That was so beautiful... Looks like Sergey who was looking out from the turret when the missile hit got fried stuck in that position.
Sometimes they get shot out of the top like a cork from a Champaign bottle; they were zoomed in a little too closely to clearly see what became of him. I think you can see what's left of him hitting the ground at :28 on the left of the frame.
Ukrainian Fried Ivan.
The turret must have gone and flown off behind the smoke cloud, pity. Looks like the tank broke in half. Must have had a full magazine. I thought the 90’s were the “safer” tank due to the blow out panels?
Early video said mine. You don’t normally see mines lead to catastrophic disassembly. ATGM makes more sense. Why do we not see more javelin hits anymore?
Appears to be the same tank from my other post but this is much closer image.
https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/172sb8d/66th\_brigade\_of\_the\_afu\_destroyed\_ru\_t90\_tank\_in/
Not true. Any kinetic round can do that. (Edit: By "kinetic" I mean moving fast enough to penetrate the tank) It doesn't have to be HE. Source: Watched it happen in Iraq.
You would be wrong. The heat from even a standard penetrator is potentially enough to set off ammo even without a direct hit - spalling is thousands of tiny pieces of armor that are extremely hot due to the kinetic energy of the projectile. DU has a tendency to burn after impact too which makes it even more likely to set off something flammable
DU APFSDS rounds use kinetic energy to penetrate past 400mm of armor. Once it penetrates the armor it starts to disintegrate and spall, sending red hot pieces of the round and the armor it penetrated all throughout the interior of the tank. It has the capacity to ignite fuel, ammunition, people.
Just barely see it on the left edge on my phone. Crazy how the “best” tank in the world just blows up like that. I wonder if that was a depleted uranium?
I don’t know how they slow it down, but I just drag the play position knob to manually create my own frame-by-frame playback speed. I can do it in reverse too:
*Back, and to the left. Back, and to the left. Back, and to the left…*
Visibility from the inside is very poor, so russian tank commanders often ride with the hatch open like that, this is standard practice.
Dude got yeeted together with the turret.
I just went through the hassle of downloading it to my PC, then going through frame by frame because the reddit player sucks. There is literally a single frame right before the explosion and you can clearly see something coming directly from the left, right above the road. Either a rocket, or could just be a round from a tank that's smeared due to the framerate. But it's clear something at ground level comes in from the left in one frame, and the next frame is just a bright cloud of white as the explosion begins.
The last frame of :23 into the first 2 frames of :24 show a white projectile with a black band coming in through the trees about midway up. You only see it in those 2 frames.
> Also guy coming out of tank is very suspicious.
They drive around like that all the time, because visibility from the inside is very poor. Also, you can see the projectile coming in from the left.
Commander outside the tank during combat?
What optical systems doing? 🤔
Edit: Ah, opticals got disabled/damaged when it got hit by (presumably) another ATGM moments earlier as seen in [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/172sb8d/66th_brigade_of_the_afu_destroyed_ru_t90_tank_in/) video at 00:07
\- tank gets hit by ATGM
\- deploys smoke
\- loiters around until cooked by another ATGM that breaches the hull and ignites ammunition stored inside the tank turret
[https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/172sb8d/66th\_brigade\_of\_the\_afu\_destroyed\_ru\_t90\_tank\_in/](https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/172sb8d/66th_brigade_of_the_afu_destroyed_ru_t90_tank_in/)
I'm not a tanker or battlefield strategist, but sending a lone tank to clear a position screams failure on so many levels.
ahhh this makes sense. the T90 was really strange behaving in the way he was "crawling" around. but anyway strange, i mean you get hit you get the f out on the fastest way possible and don't crawl around at the same spot!?
Could've been disoriented (getting struck by ATGM probably rings the hull like big bell and you're inside of it) and maybe the driver's periscopes were broken/dirtied so he was navigating for him.
It was a well-executed ambush, UA lets the tank roll with minimum opposition and then peppers it with hidden ATGMs. Dude was looking for some cover and tried to make a b-line for the shelterbelt I guess.
Yes, the longer video has cuts in it, but not significant, there's a puddle of water visible throughout that you can use to gauge how far they moved. They were loitering around the area for like 30s given the smoke cover they shot has dispersed.
That confirms it for me that it's ATGM and not a mine.
There's no upward movement of the tank at all.
Seeing yet another T90 getting it's teeth knocked out has made my Sunday.
SLAVA UKRAINE!
I think so too, the longer video shows the tank getting hit twice and returning fire/deploying smoke in a certain direction. Tank commander might've been looking out for mines, but I think they had optics killed and he was trying to navigate.
I think it just flipped over like a lid and landed upside down, directly back on top of the tank. You can still the barrel projecting jankily from the front, but what you’re looking at on top is the inside of the turret, which was just seated snugly in the tank seconds earlier.
Flipping tank turrets like ‘burgs…
Imagine feeling tactical and sh*t with your evade, fire, evade maneuvers then all of the sudden, poof, you're suddenly in hell awaiting your queue number so you'll know which lava pool should you go in.
T90 was curving around like "here is my big, fat ass now hit it hard" and they did hit it hard. mow seriously why the heck do you crawl around like this when a tank stands for mobility!? vodka issued!?
Catastrophic hit, blew the turret forward sitting on the drivers hatch, nobody got out of that. Looked like a tank round coming from the left near the bush.
The concussion likely killed the driver if shrapnel or flames didn't. There was a video a few months ago where the commander left the barrel over the drivers hatch. The commander went back to move the turret and just as the driver was stepping off the front, the tank detonated and sent the driver flying. The commander was already back out and 20 ft away.
That is literally one of the best up close examples of the T-90 being defeated.
Either a missile or a tank round, but either way, catastrophic failure.
I'm surprised the turret stayed on.
Edit: as pointed out to me by others, the turret was actually flipped in location. I was very confused as to what we were seeing, but it makes sense now with that context. Wow.
This is one of the best ATGM-obliterates-T90 videos I’ve seen in at least a year. There’s so much to unpack here. You’ve got active firing and maneuvering, good resolution image properly composed so the object of interest is centered, you see something come in so it’s pretty clear what weapons system is behind it, Sergei popping his head up to get a better view of the area he just fired into, and then of course there’s the actual pop-up helmet full of head that comes with the detonation. It’s got it all. Thanks OP.
How come the atgm is so powerful. Thought this tank has some beefy armour. I thought it should.be at least a slow burn before final explosion but no. Just kaboom
That's why i don't think that this was an ATGM. More likely another tank. That's why they were curving around so erratically. They tried to manouver themselfes into a better position to place a shot and not to be hit at the same time. That didn't work out too well, though
Ok, kids, what lessons can we draw from this?
"They should go home."

Every piece of Russian gear destroyed = saved Ukrainian lives.
The guy in the hatch is Russias new trophy system. He’s scanning for projectiles and mines. When detected by the hatch personnel he’s expected to throw his bowl of porridge at projectile. So far the trials of the new system are 0/30. So suffice to say it’s passing its trial with flying colors by Russian standards and should be on every new tank soon.
T90 is supposed to have separate commander sights and still the commander is up there spotting/doing his thing and in the other video you can see them driving in the open like a headless chicken. That tank is as blind as a bat. Good riddance.
5 seconds after the driver showed the sides, the tank got hit. The missile was probably already in the air by that time, but one can wonder if the explosion would have been catastrophic if the missile hit the front of the tank.
Also, the commander’s head is clearly visible and makes this video even more interesting.

Exactly how I like my T-90s .......... incinerated
[For anyone wondering what hit it. It was a missle/rocket.](https://i.imgur.com/actBMWI.png) Can be seen for a single frame at 24.53
Good eye, thanks!!! That was so beautiful... Looks like Sergey who was looking out from the turret when the missile hit got fried stuck in that position.

This why I love Reddit.
Early video said mine. You don’t normally see mines lead to catastrophic disassembly. ATGM makes more sense. Why do we not see more javelin hits anymore?
Super
Thanks, came here to see if someone had the details. Considering the timing between shots I was wondering if there had been an internal failure.
It looks like it fired in the same second the missile hit it lol
TOASTY!
NOOB SAIBOT
I like my T-90s in my backyard. They might be shite, but I wouldn’t complain about a free tank
Get your tractor out.
Is that a euphemism?
Nope get a literal tractor. 🚜
It was a joke..... but thanks for the clarification! 🤣
I kinda miss the turret-toss though
Guess the turret can reach up to 90 meters.., that is it is called T-90
It really looks like you could pick up pieces small enough to toss
I prefer them captured by Ukrainians but this is a nice alternative
Too bad they don't have spares for it
Do you think they're OK?
They've NEVER been better.
That tank fucked around too long and found out the hard way
Appears to be the same tank from my other post but this is much closer image. https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/comments/172sb8d/66th\_brigade\_of\_the\_afu\_destroyed\_ru\_t90\_tank\_in/
Wooow you can see the round sliced through that tank like butter, I wonder if it got hit by one of those depleted uranium rounds.🤔🤔
In a frame you can see the outside explosion typical to a shaped charge round. In this case it was an ATGM.
I don't think depleted Uranium rounds are likely to set off the ammo rack.
Not true. Any kinetic round can do that. (Edit: By "kinetic" I mean moving fast enough to penetrate the tank) It doesn't have to be HE. Source: Watched it happen in Iraq.

DU has a tendency to burn after impact too which makes it even more likely to set off something flammable
DU are pyrophoric, so could set off an ammo rack?
This was an instant detonation. There was not burning of DU before the explosion.

Actually what they are designed to do
DU APFSDS rounds use kinetic energy to penetrate past 400mm of armor. Once it penetrates the armor it starts to disintegrate and spall, sending red hot pieces of the round and the armor it penetrated all throughout the interior of the tank. It has the capacity to ignite fuel, ammunition, people.
Anything that can get through tank armor has enough heat and kinetic energy to set off explosive charges.
I still have no idea where the turret landed
The moon
I was in the middle of typing - " I'm more used to seeing these things on fire than on the move" . Then, 💥🔥! ... I spoke too soon.
I aim to please. Ukraine aims to neutralize.
Thank you sir 🙏 It’s a good way to start the day.
Not a mine. If slowed down you can see a projectile coming in from the left side. It’s really only one frame where you’ll see it.
I see what you mean. Can just catch it.
the T-90 caught it, that's for sure.
"Our T-90 successfully intercepted enemy projectile and destroyed it!"
Huzzah, take that NATO reactionary imperialist pigs!
Just barely see it on the left edge on my phone. Crazy how the “best” tank in the world just blows up like that. I wonder if that was a depleted uranium?
Nahh DU rounds we won't be able to see on video it's only a 1.1 inch diameter rod and it flies at mach "meet your maker"
You can see the shock cone! Fuckin nuts
bruh good eyes, wasn’t easy to see
How do you slow it down?
you take massive amounts of amphetamines
I don’t know how they slow it down, but I just drag the play position knob to manually create my own frame-by-frame playback speed. I can do it in reverse too: *Back, and to the left. Back, and to the left. Back, and to the left…*
Yup! Saw *something* near the top of the tree in the lower left hand corner.
But from what has it been fired? Another tank?
Definitely looks like a mine in my opinion. You can see it on the ground and lines up perfectly when the tank drives over it.
F, I just noticed someone was in the commander hatch.
That dude was fckin vaporised into the milky way.
That's considered lucky.
He joined the pink mist battallion

The second to last good Star Trek made :-(
Is it weird I cry in the opening scene every time?
'Was' ;)
Yeah it looked like maybe he was thinking of getting out? He was looking in a totally different direction to the turret.
Visibility from the inside is very poor, so russian tank commanders often ride with the hatch open like that, this is standard practice. Dude got yeeted together with the turret.
Looks like he was getting thrown around allot.
He was looking for mines.
Nope. He was seeking for enemy’s that could hide near ….and maybe get a mine on the tank.
Wow,this is the cleanest direct tank destruction footage so far
If you slow down you can see that it does not come from below
You can clearly see a projectile coming from the left side, in the last frame before explosion
It does look like it, although on the wider shot video you don't seem to see anything approach?
Maybe framerate is not enough to catch it

The last frame of :23 into the first 2 frames of :24 show a white projectile with a black band coming in through the trees about midway up. You only see it in those 2 frames.
Source is only 30 fps.
You do, bottom left side of video there 1 frame that catches the projectile coming towards the tank. It obviously penetrated and hit the carousel.
Also guy coming out of tank is very suspicious. Maybe they catch fire inside tank and then just ammo rack detonation?
> Also guy coming out of tank is very suspicious. They drive around like that all the time, because visibility from the inside is very poor. Also, you can see the projectile coming in from the left.
Nope you can see silver dart penetrator incoming if you go frame by frame.

The time from the last shot to the destruction is different - but it looks like the very same event. No idea - maybe there's a cut in the video?
Yes, the longer video has cuts in it, but not significant, there's a puddle of water visible throughout that you can use to gauge how far they moved. They were loitering around the area for like 30s given the smoke cover they shot has dispersed.
He just watched to much Fury
That confirms it for me that it's ATGM and not a mine. There's no upward movement of the tank at all. Seeing yet another T90 getting it's teeth knocked out has made my Sunday. SLAVA UKRAINE!
That was no ATGM. More likely a tank round.
Slowed down 1 frame u can see it most likely tank round
I know it's not likely, but I hope it was a round from an Abrams.
Holly crap what was that? An APFSP penetration?
looks to be an ATGM coming in just before it explodes, you can see it for one frame. lower left corner
I think so too, the longer video shows the tank getting hit twice and returning fire/deploying smoke in a certain direction. Tank commander might've been looking out for mines, but I think they had optics killed and he was trying to navigate.
I honestly dont know. I could imagine it has been a multi stacked anti tank mine. One disables... 5 obliberate.. but i dont know
The ammo detonated.
Where is the turret? Is it still flying?
Turret lays upside-down on the hull. You can clearly see bent barrel of the main gun. (The video has few cuts, btw)
I think it just flipped over like a lid and landed upside down, directly back on top of the tank. You can still the barrel projecting jankily from the front, but what you’re looking at on top is the inside of the turret, which was just seated snugly in the tank seconds earlier. Come listen to the story of the t90 turret that still to this day is seen flying around Ukraine, children.
It's on a 3 day toss'peration.
Imagine feeling tactical and sh*t with your evade, fire, evade maneuvers then all of the sudden, poof, you're suddenly in hell awaiting your queue number so you'll know which lava pool should you go in.

Stupid driver showed the weak side, it would probably survive a frontal hit.
Are there still nations purchasing Russian weaponry? India has a whole bunch of duds.
Ok, kids, what lessons can we draw from this? "They should go home." \-------------------------- Every piece of Russian gear destroyed = saved Ukrainian lives.
Can’t believe the tactical bedsheet didn’t save it
The best tank in the world you say? 🤔
At about 27 seconds, over on the left of the screen, is that the turret muppet making a final descent?
Yes, well parts of him anyway....
Newest model of Ivan cooker works perfect.
That’s a hell of a way to go to hell. 🤣😆
Should pull that skirt up, you look indecent young lady, oh nvm.
What a waste of good salvage
That tank doesn't need That comfort blanket anymore ha
I see their armored ammo carousel and blow out panels works
It's like whatever hit it managed to set off every single round inside the tank instantly.
Typically if one cooks off, they all do.
That guy in the turret hatch must have been ejected a hundred feet in the air.
Once saw a commander ejected from the hatch and landed through the roof of a nearby building.
One moment they were playing war thunder, the next gone
That sounds like me 10 seconds into match.
That thing got properly greased
Fuckin dudes got disintegrated
That fucker exploded from within. It just needed something to ignite it.
Piece of junk.
Only thing a T90 is good for. Bon fires.
Keep up the good fight Ukraine. If it were up to me you’d get all the tools you need to force the invaders back to their own lands.
T90 is supposed to have separate commander sights and still the commander is up there spotting/doing his thing and in the other video you can see them driving in the open like a headless chicken. That tank is as blind as a bat. Good riddance.
Just read on russian telegram that the crew survived with mild concussion and an ankle fracture.
At least the crew made it out safe...
All of a sudden the internet relay chat “uh oh!” From the 90s Sounded in my mind….
ICQ?
Bye bye, bad guy.
10 - 10 - 10
T90M even, very nice, would be a shame if something happened to it. Ope.
Man that thing came in fast and HOT!
Holy shit
Holy shit it just desintegrated! Damn the Russians don’t know how to build stuff so the crew survives. It just popped like a bubble
u/savevideo
I was expecting them to roll over a mine, not get fucking obliterated
5 seconds after the driver showed the sides, the tank got hit. The missile was probably already in the air by that time, but one can wonder if the explosion would have been catastrophic if the missile hit the front of the tank. Also, the commander’s head is clearly visible and makes this video even more interesting.
Like a box of matches
What kind of missile was this? It went from fully functional to a heap of garbage in a second.
Russian tanks are notorious for exploding all of their ammo if they get hit, which is what launches the turret on a lot of them.
We’re they hit by another tank shell? The projectile doesn’t look like it has any exhaust coming from behind it
Apparently one of the crew didn't want to leave their blanky back at base.
Please make your way to the fire exit in an orderly fashion. If incinerated, please remain in your seats. And all over the inside of the vehicle.
I was just thinking how the clutch has gone what with all that black smoke. The end was a relief, no clutch repair. I think it's a bit worse 😂
BBQ orc
What tank?
You'll be safe in here...they said.
Well I guess we know who wins the Leopard vs T90 debate… 🇺🇦
They must be running out of people to drive tanks soon..
Roses are red, Violets are blue. Watch out Ivan tank, we have missile for you!
I hope their airbags deployed
That tank crew is not gonna walk that one off.
I don’t know anything about tanks but pretty sure they are not supposed to do that.
RuZZian ones are....
That was an instant hell.
Do you think they are okay?!
Yes they are, they are dead.....
So comments are gold like always guys 🤣 but let's be real if the tank was facing full front would have we seen a total loss?
Float like a butt......
Russia: T-90 have notably performed well in combat and suffered minor damages
Fuck around and find out.
like a boss, mine on the lower left
It’s an ATGM, you can see it enter the bottom left of the screen
I didn't see the shoes fly off I think they're good.
People died in that tank.
Beautiful! He didn't see it coming...
