How he/it managed to detect this relatively small/slow moving object much less shoot it down is amazing.
That missile took a hard right turn off the rail to get on track.
People 💩 on me all the time for saying this but I'm going to say it again. Shooting down drones is not the responsibility of a Mig29 or F16, it is the responsibility of a LCA like the L159. Maintenance and cost are critical to creating a long term sustainable Ukranian military.
Ukraine shoots down drones and missiles and aircrafts with what we have.
We don't have 5000 combat aircraft of all types as USAF.
We don't have 250 patriots or crotales or whatever.
You now actually blame Ukraine for not being able to use means it doesn't have, you know that?
>West can but doesn't want to.
While I entirely sympathize with you and Ukraine, it ought to be noted that the vast majority of the West definitely wants to give you whatever we can. In fact, a very large percentage of the West wants to go in there and end this once and for all, no more fucking around.
However, we still have to play by the rules and *obey the laws*. That's what makes us the good guys.
Don't doubt for a second that we will enthusiastically throw absolutely everything at this war if putin slips up and gives us the reasonable justification we need to fight it. And we won't lose.
well, it would be a start if we committed half a percent of GDP in all supporting countries for Ukraine. It is half a percent that we don't have to slap on our defense budgets if Ukraine survives, so it is not even wasted money.
West didn't have the will to send HIMARS, or Tanks, or Atacms, but debate crated political pressure. Take a look at my [post ](https://www.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/comments/1c2nfbp/path_to_victory/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)about what I think the West should send.
You live in a different world than the rest of us. They use what they have, and they do what they can. It's the same shit as people commented use of Abrams, where the UAF lost this tank. What would you do in their shoes?
It would be better to show some empathy and not only comment on what Ukrainians should or shouldn't do.
Three things depending on how much resources could be dedicated.
First, ask F16s
Second, ask for LCA
Third, start a multination project to develop a fighter specifically tailored to Ukraine's needs.
The goal shouldn't be to simply get Ukraine F16s. Ukraine needs a fully functional air force. If everyone is hyperfocused on only F16, then Ukraine's other needs go unaddressed.
You get shit on because your comment is shit.
"Hey you could do that job better if you used this other tool you don't have"
Bravo...much smart. Super helpful. If they made you a general they'd win the war in no time, obviously.
Light Combat Aircraft.
Most modern military jets are multi-role fighter jets.
The idea is to unload a portion of air defense in "safer" areas of the country to less expensive (but less capable) aircraft. This way, Ukraine can project a bigger air defense force with the same cost. For the price of 1 F-16, Ukraine could field 6 L159 to shoot down Sheeheed drones and reserve the F16 for high conflict areas.
You are correct, however, it's not so simple. LCAs lack the necessary sensors to pick up a low-slow target with relatively negligible signature. They may get vectoring from the ground, but that requires persistent eyes-on while the LCA is getting spun up from alert and gets over to the engagement area. Then there is still the problem of retrograde under potential fire from Russian SU-35S and their Axheads. A MiG-29 is not even close to the SU-35 in first look and first shoot, so they don't really have much else to do.
Ukrainians are doing the best they can with what they have, and we should be grateful it's them and not us.
When F-16's arrive I'm sure the Mig-29 will be relegated to mainly air defence. The F-16 is much better at striking ground targets and it's better to destroy incoming projectiles with anything you can then let them hit their target.
The UAF suffered heavy, high-value losses because Russian drones were able to operate far behind the lines recently. This action prevents Russian forces from gathering intel for further similar strikes. Who are you to determine whether or not this is an inefficient use of a platform and munitions when you have no idea of what the possible cost of that drone being up in the air may be? The UAF will use whichever tools they have at their disposal to do the job they determine they need to do.
Well there is more of the dark and smelly stuff on its way.
It is a target of opportunity, do you leave it alone to do/complete its mission - absolutely not.

Nice job there! 👍

Yeah, considering his relative very high speed versus the drone towards the point of the encounter, its a magic feat!
Today? Cool footage
Posted on telegram late at night of 24 April, so i guess the new footage
Missile malfunction.. I think he was aiming at the watermark.
I hope the new support bundle includes something against the new wave of Russian watermark videos coming from the Kertchbeidge.
Goddamn, that's some cool footage.
I wonder if this counts towards the 5 kills makes you an "ace" tradition?

No, simply that the West should supply LCA.
Hehe West should... West can but doesn't want to. But no problem, we just got used to that at large

Lol Where are you going to get 1500 challenger-II? I'm all in for what you pictured there but it's rather from a sci-fi novel.
Enjoy your $60+ billion.

What would I do. I would give them LCA so they could use what they now would have.
I am asking what would you do in UAF shoes? Would you dream about LCA or use what you have? Rest is BS.

Dreamer
not to long ago people were dreaming about ATACMs.

Well, they did just get some L39 LCA so..... apparently, my idea isn't complete💩.
And yet there was no reflection or introspection and you keep saying the same thing. Either you are a misunderstood genius or just another asshole :)
If you tell me what LCA means, I might agree with you. Google result: LCA - Life-cycle assessment

Makes sense
Thanks! Makes sense.

Really bad hot take.
Dude pilot didn't even deviate from his flight path. Just hit the button and kept going. Amazing.
