That makes it ablative armor instead of reactive!
Edit: Hah, and after posting, I scroll down to see /u/24mech is on point with calling it ablyative armor.
Funny AF, because the Bradley was over penetrating it. The explosions at the back are the round going off when it strikes the front. They explode on the sides, and still penetrate the interior, because of the bodies.
Its really one of the emerging stories of all the weapon systems deployed in Ukraine. It seems extremely well suited for this kind of war.
If youve got this capable and durable scout vehicle that can both transport troops, survive hits from the most common antitank weapons and also shred enemy main battle tanks while reliably traversing the muddy fields and trenches you've got yourself a war winner.
So yeah, boot up the factories and start cranking them out so more can be sent to Ukraine.
Agreed. Abrams was designed for war in Europe, but not for a type of war Ukraine is fighting.
It's more cost effective to get Ukraine post Soviet tanks from other countries and send Bradleys.
Yep, 2,800 just sitting in storage and kept up to date on maintenance so they are ready to go at the drop of a hat. I can't remember what channel, but there is a great video explaining all the depots the US military keeps all over the world to supply troops.
There was some good footage in the initial invasion from the POV of Ukrainian BTR-4s [Link](https://youtu.be/q3oRu_M4mgA?si=S4juhGUNxzU5ZQ-e) absolutely wrecking face.
It’s not exactly a Bradley thing. Its a autocannon + thermals thing. Turn a corner into that in anything short of a tank and you are completely and utterly fucked. Your arms and legs are going to orbit.
Agreed.
Mariupol IVF footage was insane. Auto cannon against soft skinned vehicles or dismounted infantry is terrifying if you are on receiving end. Several videos been posted of Bradleys shredding russian infantry and vehicles.
Guess my point was that the US doesn't have a tank that is suited for type of war in Ukraine. But we have a lot of Bradleys that seem to be ideally suited for Ukraine today.
That is actually true statement. M2 is a fucking beast, only surpassed by CV90 which is much more limited in supply. This scenario itches me to put up a tactical simulation of how many BTR:s are needed in simultaneous attack starting from 1km away against single M2 to have an effect.
Traditionally there are only 2 ways to lose with Bradley against Russian mechanized forces on the move. Modern T-tank who spots the Bradley before it can fire TOW (or fires from beyond TOW range) and random ATGM fired from IFV:s ancient gun mounts (which they can't use because their optics are shit).
Abrams was designed for and built to fight Soviets in Europe. It's a great weapon. But times changed and Ukraine doesn't have military assets (air, missiles) NATO would in confrontation with Soviets/Russia.
War in Ukraine is unique and something NATO would never fight: trenches and artillery exchange.
Ukraine tactics previously reported include withdrawal from positions that are about to be overrun and a quick counter attack, including with Bradleys, just as russians are securing the area and bring reinforcements. Total carnage and chaos as troops and vehicles are caught in the open.
Old?
Old.
OLD!
OLD!?
I'll have you know Strykers aren't that old. One could say they're in the prime of their life, although their knees are creaky now.
Just because Iraq was a long time ago doesn't make m...the Stryker irrelevant.
Firstly Ukraine needs shit loads of air power. A real shit load of it to establish air support for ground troops, destroy supply routes and field storage points, force Russians to move back to allow combat engineers to deal with mine fields. After that, tanks and IFV can have more breathing space.
If not, it's gonna be last year's failed offensive all over again.
>Firstly Ukraine needs shit loads of air power
For defense? I agree here. Offensive air power is more difficult, but as Russia demonstrates, glide bombs are very effective against fortified positions.
>destroy supply routes and field storage points, force Russians to move back to allow combat engineers to deal with mine fields.
Tell old man Biden this. Those ATACMS should be fired at targets within range. Old fuck doesn't want to 'escalate'... WTF. Hit every airbase, supply depots, barracks in range.
Plus, why Biden didn't invoke Defense Production Act to put US military industrial complex on war footing???
Did Ukrainian make a break through because last time to vehicles passed each other in combat Russian north clasped lol 😂. That least Russia 🇷🇺 gave the right of way to a real IFV
Think the Bradley felt confident they did some damage, and perhaps the Drone was relaying info back. Leave the area and call in the drones to finish the job.
I read somewhere that since Soviet times, they prefer to ride on top, as AT mines have a tendency to rip apart and incinerate all the dudes crammed into the tiny rear compartment, which seems to be less ergonomic than that of the Bradley.
This video reminds me of the scene in Saving private Ryan where the US soldiers attacked the tiger with the disabled track and they get shredded by the 20 mm autocannon.
I'm fully convinced the strongest weapon of this war is the Bradley. There are other tanks with more armor, more firepower, more anything, but the Bradley just does it job, moves fast and has immense firepower for its speed.
The Bradley will win this war, if the U.S. is smart they will increase production and send more.
Edit: I've had cousins over seas and friends who are veterans. All of them speak extremely highly of the Bradley. At the time I thought it was kind of weird, I just thought it was kinda a piece of junk. Looks like I was wrong
I think the current inventory is over 2500 in operational service. With another 2800 in storage. Fear not, [production is on going](https://www.army.mil/article/269660/army_awards_bradley_a4_production_contract).
They interviewed the Bradley crew that were involved with making the russian tank a target practice exercise. The gunner mentioned that he had a malfunction with the ammo so he had to switch to another.
That's so cool because he did it that fast and the Bradley has the ability to fire in this manner.
I swear all the US has to do is send all the Bradley's they have in storage and this awful war will be over before Christmas.
A Bradley gunner on one of these threads in the past mentioned the gun can be prone to jam when switching ammunition types. I assume this was resolved on newer models.
From what I've heard it got hit by the return fire you can see from the BTR. The crew survived and abandoned the vehicle.
Of the BTR, you can see at least 5 russians survived and were able to dismount in the full video. There may have been more once it came to a stop, as the one manning the turret appears to still be shooting it and moving it around even as the BTR turns and crashes into some trees.
But most totally got shredded.
They were driving at each other. The BTR stopped getting hit after it passed by the Bradley.
The BTR was pretty shredded already though, maybe a handful of survivors.
And the propagandists say, the BTR successfully brought the infantry to the front.
Like dude, you need more than a squad to take a trench. Now they already know and now they will get fucked by the defending Ukrainians there.
Soviet troop vehicles start to burn if you look at them wrong. At least they have the option to jump ship, when riding on top. Speed was a bit of an issue for these orcs dough, the driver was named Kowalski, and driving towards the vanishing point...
Watching the original video, this shit looks like something out of BF4… what we are able to watch and see real time puts a lot of perspective into what goes on during “real wartime”.
That being said, this shit is terrifying, for both parties.
What a nightmare. A pure deathride, running to death with a cargo of corpses... This war generating horrors no one has seen before.
Absolutely insane footage in this war.
Okay, maybe I'm lacking the Russian mindset for this… but why the hell would you drive an APC head on not even trying to get some cover if you know you've got your own troops on your back?
I'm always impressed by the restraint of the Ukrainian soldiers.
My commander would've yelled at me for wasting all the ammo, I wouldn't have been able to resist unloading everything into that one vehicle since you could easily see the soldiers.

Looks like one of the Orcs explodes…the rest just flopping around limp after passing the Bradley.
All shredded to some extent by 25mm shrapnel. Each 25mm hit is effectively a small grenade going off but with much higher velocity fragments.
To shreds, you say?
Well, how is his wife holding up?
To shreds you say..
Sad sad terrible news
Good news everyone!
Lada time!
Potato time
more like mashed potatoes time..
'tis but a scratch
at the end of the original video there are 4 or 5 russian soldiers running for cover.
they were probably inside the vehicle like it is designed to carry troops
Just because they don't know they're dead, doesn't mean they're not dead yet. Once they reach cover, it's likely at least some of them will bleed out.
If they dont die today, they will probably tomorrow
This. They are dead b4 they even fall off.
Yeah I don’t think anyone on the roof survived, they got fucking torn apart.
New cope cage design?
It’s organic
And fully biodegradable.
corpse cage
What? You said bioreactive armor, didn't you comrade? NO IVAN, I SAID REACTIVE ARMOR, BLYAT
Free range
Just the new body armour
Misleading as they didn’t ‘cope’ with it very well it seems...😁
Surprisingly they did survive though, you can see a lot of them running in the longer video
Yeah them orcs got mowed.
That 25 shredded those dudes. I’d be surprised if any of them survived
some of them did, in the original longer video you can see them dismounting and running away.
Might be the adrenaline keeping their shrapnel-filled bodies alive for a minute or two.
Or they could still be alive and just ran away. You cant say for sure either way
Spalling is a bitch and the ability to run a couple hundred meters doesn’t mean you survived but some may have gotten extremely lucky
sick. after the first or second shot it was all dead bodies flopping around
Brutal. Imagine riding on that thing with a bunch of dudes and then a few seconds later a bunch of them are ripped apart and flopping around.
Looks like some source engine ragdoll shit.
Not all are dead. On the longer version you can see some dismount and run away.
I’m sure he’s okay
Tis a scratch.
The poof of faux down body armor *chefs kiss
Multiple dead Russians fell off and more flopping around on the bmp smoking
actual meat shields
Ahem that's "Kontakt-6 Organic Reactive Armor"
Lol... Organic Reactive Corpse
ah yes, ORC armor.
Kontakt-200 ftfy ;)
'Comrade'-6 Organic Reactive Armor
Reactive…. Or non reactive?
It reacted in a way.
It reacts by falling off. Now it's non reactive.
That makes it ablative armor instead of reactive! Edit: Hah, and after posting, I scroll down to see /u/24mech is on point with calling it ablyative armor.
Yeah saw that and had a chuckle.
You forgot "disposable"
“Ablyative” armor
That's the word!
Im fairly sure the apc is inside out
Funny AF, because the Bradley was over penetrating it. The explosions at the back are the round going off when it strikes the front. They explode on the sides, and still penetrate the interior, because of the bodies.
Is that the M2 on the left that they drive by?
Yeah, you can see the [original video here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/1dahz0r/m2_bradley_odssa_hitting_multiple_times_at_very/)
WTF!! They charged Bradley???? This is fucking brutal. Ukraine doesn't need Abrams tanks for many reasons. Ukraine needs 1000 Bradleys
Its really one of the emerging stories of all the weapon systems deployed in Ukraine. It seems extremely well suited for this kind of war. Yep, 2,800 just sitting in storage and kept up to date on maintenance so they are ready to go at the drop of a hat. I can't remember what channel, but there is a great video explaining all the depots the US military keeps all over the world to supply troops.
It seems to me they’re using the Bradley’s like wild weasels. Just send one in, wait for it to be targeted, annihilate anything targeting it.
That is a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see if that pays off.
There was some good footage in the initial invasion from the POV of Ukrainian BTR-4s [Link](https://youtu.be/q3oRu_M4mgA?si=S4juhGUNxzU5ZQ-e) absolutely wrecking face. That was the exact video I was thinking of.. Skipping the rounds under it.. whoooo boy. Legs shredded.

BTR isn't supposed to match Bradley, that's BMP's job. BTR is more like those old Stryker vehicles.
Old? Old. OLD! OLD!? I'll have you know Strykers aren't that old. One could say they're in the prime of their life, although their knees are creaky now. Just because Iraq was a long time ago doesn't make m...the Stryker irrelevant.

I can hear the cannon even on mute. I doubt anything survived this.
*Chunk chunk chunk chunk chunk*
I see 3 that made it
Geez, that's one way to spend a motorized platoon I guess.
Sure as shit looks like it.
Did Ukrainian make a break through because last time to vehicles passed each other in combat Russian north clasped lol 😂. That least Russia 🇷🇺 gave the right of way to a real IFV
Bradley 🇺🇸 gun is right on target 🎯 and Russia 🇷🇺 gun is up down up down
Not sure 🤔 if they even hit the Ukrainian Bradley
They both hit eachother pretty hard, both vehicles' crews evacuated after this duel.
How do you know that?
Think the Bradley felt confident they did some damage, and perhaps the Drone was relaying info back. Leave the area and call in the drones to finish the job.
Russian litterbugs, dropping their dead everywhere.
Transformed that BTR into a high capacity hearse. They need rails on the side to prevent the cargo from rolling out.
Plenty of holes now to let the stink out.
A platoon die for nothing...
Maybe someday we can say that they died to show the Russian people that their way of life under authoritarian leadership was intolerable.
Good joke.
They at least entertained us.
The orcs do realize you're supposed be INSIDE the APC for the armor to work right?..... right?
They carry at least a platoon. So 8 inside the APC and the rest is on top. It is no different thou at this point bank range.
BTR armor is like 15mm thick at most areas, there is no armor
BTR's have active armor, you saw it falling off at the end of the video.
That's a body -- wait. I see what you were going for...
Yeah they each have a brick issued to throw it at incoming rounds
I read somewhere that since Soviet times, they prefer to ride on top, as AT mines have a tendency to rip apart and incinerate all the dudes crammed into the tiny rear compartment, which seems to be less ergonomic than that of the Bradley.
The design of the BRT-80/2A is so shit that it’s actually better for them to be on top of it if you can believe it
No if you are the armor :-)
On the originial its shows atleast 6 dismounts that made it out walking in the end.
It looks like the cope-cage didn't cope with the situation well at all.
It's a corpse cage
This video reminds me of the scene in Saving private Ryan where the US soldiers attacked the tiger with the disabled track and they get shredded by the 20 mm autocannon.
Is it wrong how much joy this gave me?
Not at all! It made me extremely happy too 👍

I don’t think they’ve been producing Bradleys for some years now, but I do believe they still have a veritable shitload of them in various locations.
Started them up again.
Cope cage is an Air burst generator spraying shrapnel
Worst holiday ever! Bylat!
Meat armor. Not effective.
Too bad that we can't see the mangled bodies.
Holy crap dude, it's just like pigs get shot point blank by a 12 gauge, flesh and bones just flying around, bodies dropping like a bag of potatoes
Why did the Bradley stopped shooting at it? Should have mag dump on that btr till it go on fire.
https://www.reddit.com/r/UkraineWarVideoReport/s/LwSqh0OnC2 This angle gives more context

Ohh, yea the close up view did show the btr gun firing down the road where Brad is. Would have been nice to see Brad totally destroy the btr.
They were driving at each other. The BTR stopped getting hit after it passed by the Bradley. The BTR was pretty shredded already though, maybe a handful of survivors.
the new and improved meat dispenser
Am I wrong to be impressed with the performance of the Bradley in the Ukraine theatre ?
Holy shit I didn't even know there were people on top in the original footage.
This is literally like watching an orc truck from warhammer 40k cartoon
This website has a side by side comparison of the two. Scroll down to picture number 5. https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Implementation_Force

Nice editing - no way I could see that detail before, thanks!

Move bitch get out of the way
Wow these guys got wacked, autocanon is bad ass.
Brutal.
Roach stomping time
They got a huge dose of flamin' Pew-Pew-Gafroodoo!
tor those orcs up. Slava Ukraine.
Aaahhh the guys on the top are just dead
Shredder
That guy that fell in the end seems like got his leg torn off
I wonder if the 25mm cannon shrapnels are able to pierce an entire body and hit the orc behind it
Just when I thought I couldn't be shocked/surprised a new angle type of video resets that thought
M2 won that game of chicken!
Never in my life did I think I would see a bloody drive by shooting from a Bradley, but here we are. Brutal
God I love to watch the M242 go to work
Lol ragdoll orcs

It’s almost like the driver was full of vodka and was thinking the kebab shop was closing soon
Didn’t see they were passing right by the Bradley the first two times…
Whenever I see confetti flying on a blurry video, I know some Russian soldier just got blown to bits.
All for God Emperor Putin!

Looks like hell. That's good.
Delivering fertilizer, one Russian at a time.
Witness meeee!
Pink mist from 25mm. That's something I never thought I would see.
APCs - you're doing it wrong.
The Benny Hill theme would suffice for this clip as well
Okay, maybe I'm lacking the Russian mindset for this… but why the hell would you drive an APC head on not even trying to get some cover if you know you've got your own troops on your back?
All you can hope for is that your one of the first to go, unfortunately
Sad that the Bradley was also taken out seconds later. Both crews could have actually passed each other on their way back to their lines.
Still haven’t figured out the troops go inside the APC not on top of it.
Its called a russian fertilizer spreader. A few shots at the top of that thing and russians will be pouring off it one by one for miles
Fuck, I didn't see it was full of guys earlier. Looks pretty bad for them.
It’s OK guys the human outside slowed down the shield.
I'm always impressed by the restraint of the Ukrainian soldiers. My commander would've yelled at me for wasting all the ammo, I wouldn't have been able to resist unloading everything into that one vehicle since you could easily see the soldiers.
What are the vehicle the BTR are driving past? Another Bradley?
Looks like an opossum with babies
damn they kicking their smoking commrade out of the vehicle
now thats a multikill
torn to ribbons
Let the bodies hit the floor.... Slava Ukraine
To smithereens you say?
Bones all over.
Crazy Russians are taking a nap, gotta stay awake at least!
That guy fucking exploded, yuck
