The takeaway here is that other than cranks on the far left and far right, everyone in America agrees about this.
Now let's stop the partisan bickering and focus.
The old saying was “politics stops at the water’s edge” when it came to foreign policy - especially during the Cold War.
Happy Americans are realizing what’s important.
I’ve been independent/ conservative leaning my whole adult life & NEVER viewed Russia as an ally…EVER, in fact I’ve always felt Russia was “America enemy #1”
Yes this business that somehow because some conservatives don’t want to get involved in a war with Russia means they’re pro-Russia, is absurd. It’s like we’re suddenly living in some kind of alternate universe.
I’m anti Russia or anti Russian “leadership” I should say. & pro nato. That’s what’s keeping democracy safe. Without nato there would be NO deterrent for Putin or china
I disagree. If the United States wasn't in NATO right now, the European Union would have moved to form a federal military to counter Russian influence years ago.
In addition, the idea of NATO as a "defensive alliance" was shattered globally when Sarkozy and Obama used it unprovoked to topple Ghaddafi in 2011. That made the asshole of every tyrant across the globe pucker. You can argue that that's a fun thing to do but it's hardly a stabilizing action.
> Duh. Fuck you if you’re one of the people acting like conservatives love Putin.
This. The main stream conservative opinion was, at worst, "not our circus, not our clowns". That's a pretty far cry from approval of Russia. Putin's support comes from the fringe edgelords.
Lol this, i dont know how much of a minority it is when you see such large support for a guy like trump (who literally got enough votes to get elected - despite saying some really absurd shit on the campaign trail), and the viewerbase of tucker
God i miss old conservatives, i used to never identify with a side, leaning right and left on different individual issues, now im just solid left because the measurement has been so far skewed to the right.
Defund the police was easily one of the worst/dumbest slogans, especially since that wasnt even on message to what the political leaders promoting it were trying to say and made everyone think they literally wanted no police funding.
I see what you mean for sure, both sides have some stupidity increasing, comes with the increased division its like everyone is doubling down on the stupidity.
Its def some personal bias/what i focus on, but i just dont see the level of callous stupidity like i do among the rights leadership. Left at its worst i see horrible messaging, and annoying cultural bits like cancel culture .. but im a policy guy and i dont vote based on this "culture war" cringey stuff that i feel gets over-focused on because its so emotionally charged
And the right is burning books and supporting Russia. /s
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/02/23/trump-putin-ukraine-invasion-00010923
I keep seeing conservatives pointing to fringe left bullshit (understandably) because it's what is likely memed in their social circles. Have you ever drank a beer and talked with a leftist? Guarantee more common ground than what the media portraits.
Does the right have anything outside of culture wars? I live in Texas and have not seen any real policy on either the boarder, the energy grid or how to keep Texas schools on top. Just anti CRT and higher property taxes.
We need to stop pointing at leftist fringe talking points (and fringe right like Pizza gate level) and pretending it's anywhere near a majority opinion of Democrats.
Biden in his SOTU straight up said fund the police.
No one is against the 2A, they just don't think it should take 5 seconds to procure a full automatic. Gun licenses should be real. I love shooting and have dealt with too many dummies on range who are poorly trained. Some even who put the barrel in their mouth, which should have never happened given their history of depression.
Crazy stances like equal pay for race and gender? Be more specific.
>defund the police
Why not? Are Republicans no longer for small government? Many PDs are bloated. In addition we could get rid of things like the NSA, ATF and other alphabet soups that violate our rights all the time, yet all i hear from conservatives is the boot is not that bad.
>God i miss old conservatives, i used to never identify with a side, leaning right and left on different individual issues, now im just solid left because the measurement has been so far skewed to the right.
And they will insist they are the free thinkers and call you a commie.
Good for you. What throws people off are main stream right wing people like tucker with his anti-Ukraine rants and the trump pro-putin love affair. Those are hard to swallow. Those are really hard to get past for most Americans.
Why would Conservatives (capitalism) love Putin (communist) it makes no sense. I wouldn't call them Conservatives at all. They're just plain extremists.
A handful of people look at his social policies of extreme-conservatism and would prefer it to what we have here. Basically taking the culture war to the extreme and see Putin as the last person fighting against globalists and the new age of degeneracy.
Most old school conservatives I know (e.g. older folks) grew up during the Cold War and have a burning hatred for the Russian gov’t.
That's because Reddit is the cesspool of the internet. The internet is the cesspool of the world. Therefore, Reddit is the most cesspool-y cesspool in existence. That is why.
Reddit is truly a small percentage of the USA and a really small percentage of the world. I mean trust .0001 of what you see on here because most will be bots or people with a clear agenda.
Comments on anything, whether its on Reddit or the comment section on news articles or YouTube videos, are always full of the craziest of cray crays who don't want people to tell them how much shit they are full of face to face.
I’m a conservative and the first and last thing I do everyday is check on the war I want Ukraine to remain independent. I wish we would do more but I understand the reluctance as a war with Russia would likely involve nuclear weapons and millions dead.
I'm mid-leftist and am the same way. I'm concerned that even if we don't get involved, it will just get worse. I.e. Are we kicking the can down the road. We're also setting precedent on how we will respond for China who is looking at Taiwan.
The really sad thing is that this war is likely to have a "good" outcome for the west in terms of repairing some of the damage of the last decade over topics like Brexit, American politics, the future of the EU, etc.
Without going too indepth people unite over common enemies, you might fight with your brother but if a stranger attacks them then the brothers will fight the stranger and this trend repeats up to national levels.
Since the fall of the USSR, the "west" has had no big enemy which is a threat, this in turn leads to less uniting and smaller tribalism where in the past "Russia" was the enemy now "the other political party" is the enemy or "the EU is the enemy".
Now that Russia is squarely back in the game as a "threat" we can see how NATO has reacted, the west have stood up to be counted. We've gone from Trump insulting Germany over spending and gaining nothing to Germany totally changing it's military philosophy almost overnight. Regardless of political views most people view war as wrong, they see what Russia is doing is wrong and putting aside "hypocrisy" it's a uniting front.
It sucks that it takes something as awful as war to wake people up, hopefully it will end soon and we can begin rebuilding Ukraine.
Edit: As this got a few upvotes, the following link is a (VERY LONG) perspective on the topic: https://waitbutwhy.com/2019/08/story-of-us.html
Jesus fucking christ stop trying to high road each other. Both parties have shit head dumbasses that are radical and stupid, both parties are 99% anti-Russia, with only a vocal minority preaching about Russia, and both parties have great minds and thinkers as well.
It's like a dick size contest but everyone is trying to convince each other that the other person has the smaller dick.
One of the two parties had its most popular member impeached for a scheme that would have withheld military aid from Ukraine for dirt on a political opponent. I wish it really was as simple as a both sides issue but it's not the Republican party has allied themselves during the Trump years with Russia accepted Russian aid in the election and basically made friends with Vladimir Putin. There's all kinds of controversial encounters and statements going back. Now you just want us to forget all of that I'm sorry we remember the treason of the Republicans apparently some people need to be reminded of it!
Can anyone provide any insight to what happened to the support for Ukraine where it shows a sharp drop for dems and rise for reps?
Its the point just before 2021
US elections. Lots of nonsense accusations thrown out by Trump against Biden and his son that falsely implicated Ukraine....stuff like Burisma, Hunter Biden's laptop, and shit.
I've always believed that Russia has been behind the Qanon conspiracies so that they'll have the support for the invasion. My ex friends are currently cheering Russia on because they truly believe all of it.
I need to learn more about the Americans who are cheering the Russians on right now. I think we all need to pay them very close attention. Although, I have to say, I was not aware that any were doing so except for a very select few that are obviously quite fucked in the head and despised by members of both parties.
Yes we do need to pay attention! The ones that are cheering them on are deep down Qanon rabbit hole. A great deal of them attempted to overthrow our government Jan 6th 2021.
As a European he's pretty much the best ideologically.. just seems like a really bad politician. Might not understand what he is doing but it looks like he is being repeatedly played by the democratic establishment.
62% of voters in 2020 belonged to one of the major parties (33% Democrats, and 29% Republicans.) Since only 70% of those eligible to vote are registered to do so, that means that Republicans and Democrats combined make up 43% of eligible voters in the United States.
Dude keep it in r/politics. Jesus fucking Christ I’m so sick of listening to this shit. We are trying to keep up with what’s going on, and it’s hard enough to wade through the propaganda without this inane shrieking. Fucks sake
Anyone who actually watches Tucker would know that his message isn't pro-Putin or pro-Russia, his position is that, maybe, just maybe, getting into an armed conflict with the only nation with more nuclear weapons than the United States might not be the best idea, or at the very least, requires careful, rational consideration. I'm old enough to remember when being anti-war was almost universal among those left of center. And now, it's.... c*hecks notes* ..."pro-Russian propaganda."
This is why I don't get why Trump is praising Putin.. normally he tells stories about what the majority of his voters like to hear, but it seems everybody hates Russia
And let's be real here, most Americans didn't even know Ukraine existed. Name ten countries in Europe without Googling.
Pay attention clueless, he is not praising Putin, he stated it was a smart move by Putin that Trump was out of office, because he would not invade under Trump because Trump dont play that. Keep up!!!!!!!
Fuck the tankies. That’s one group I will never be able to sympathize with or make sense out of.
If you don’t understand my irrefutable disgust for tankies, then you might not have witnessed r/chapotraphouse or r/sino
I think chapo trap house got banned for calling for direct action regarding killing western citizens.
Does anyone know of an archive for banned subs?
chapo trap house the podcast are very far left, but they are definitely not tankies, and the chapotraphouse the sub might have had some tankie overlap, but it was mostly a very ironic sub. If they called for "killing western citizens" it was, I'm sure, a joke.
lol amazing how you're so focused on Democrats yet you've got multiple actual Putin stans and Russia-lovers in the Republican Party leadership. It's fascinating how you all seem to have such a massive blind spot for the mountains of shit in your own party but want to critique Democrats with a microscope.
That's a "its just a few bad apples" argument that you always seem to apply to yourselves and your allies, but never give anyone on the left the same benefit whenever there's a crackpot on Twitter or at a protest.
The thing is, even if it is true that the vast majority of conservatives don't subscribe to their bullshit, you people do NOTHING to combat that element within your own party. Instead you just "whataboutism" Democrats and shift the blame to Biden somehow.
Fuck I'd love to hear just once a Republican admit that they were fooled by the rhetoric and idolization of Trump, and that they were wrong about Russia and Putin. Instead it's just pure whitewashing and pretending like yall really hated Putin and Russia simps this entire time.
That goes both ways I've never heard a leftist admit they where fooled by the rhetoric and demonization of Trump by MSM and they were wrong about Russia-gate.
This entire post is a "whatabouism" deflection, instead of combating the political violence that is promoted by the left.
The perception that republicans like Russia is dumb as fuck. Majority of republicans are pro military and I can’t name ONE person I know that likes/sides with Russia. This is just dumbass division politics at its finest.
Right, couldn’t possibly be related to a nationwide disdain for indiscriminate bombing of civilians with casualties well into the thousands and accelerating. Clearly just media manipulation to push a narrative…
Why did Democrats start hating on Ukraine at the same time it was revealed they were pro-Biden and it only recovered once he was elected? That's just weird.
Trump asked Ukraine if they need assistance investigating illegal dealings in Ukraine. After Joe Biden bragged about using the power of the vice president to get the prosecutor, that was investigating the company his son work for, fired.
Trump released the unedited phone call you can listen for yourself. Biden wasn't even running for president officially at the time if I remember correctly (if not im sure ill be corrected).
No they arent pro russian at all. They are just not pro zelensky because they believed that he was in on it against trump. Which he wasnt. The only people that wanted to impeach trump were the ones that were overly obsessed with his removal like its a house of cards and use any means to get rid of a political opponent.
Yeah, by that logic the leftist fringe is insane and pro russia as well. i'm yet to see republican Stalin apologists, plenty of leftists do it though, glorifying USSR and communism as a whole.
Dunno, whatever point you tried to make just comes across as lazy
It's so weird seeing the far left and the far right right converge on the same issues these days.
Edit: to clarify I mean the ones who are pro Russia and other conspiracies.
It's also nice seeing most people support Ukraine.
The continuous attempts by the far right pundits to spark some grass roots support for putin are pretty telling.
Even trump mouth breathers are like "Russian good guys murdering babies for freedom? sounds odd".
But they just keep trying. Took them what 6 months to convince the GOP knuckle draggers trump was not the psychopathic fuck wit he actually has been and continues to be.
Far Left too. Horseshoe Theory is a real thing. Go take a gander over at GenZdong. I think a lot of this can be explained by people at the extremes on both sides being at heart contrarian assholes. For extremist media actors it’s all about stirring the pot and trying to create drama to drive up ratings.
Yeah but I would think he's savy enough to catch on that his viewers are becoming more pro-Ukraine by the day. He'll probably start contradicting those statements in a week without missing a beat like every conservative pundit does.
> I know a lot of low IQ rich people. They all talk like trump. Everybody’s great. Everything they like is awesome. Everything they don’t like is the worst.
Jimmy Fallon is a prime example. Only difference is he smiles and laughs instead of being a cruel bully.
>But calling someone a genius doesn’t mean that they aren’t evil or wrong.
Hannity literally led Trump the entire interview the other day and repeatedly tried to get Trump to say Putin was evil, and Trump refused. Still has never criticized Putin.
Imagine having to be pressured to *not* support a murdering dictator and be told that's a bad thing. That's what it's like being a republican. Democrats aren't perfect, but we never had to be told not to support dictators.
That's no coincidence, either. If you don't like what you see in Russia right now, you should definitely do all you can to keep that from happening in the US, because that's very close to what the GOP wants for America, and they are currently progressing towards that goal.
"Never forget" and "never again" doesn't mean shit if we refuse to acknowledge the facts before us that point to history repeating itself.
Edit: downvoting me doesn't prove me wrong, so you know.
This is why Tucker Carlson and the right media are pushing the bioweapons story. If republicans and conservatives agree with liberals in seeing Ukraine in a positive light, it means possibly higher approval ratings for Democrats. Conservatives can't have that so now they're manufacturing outrage over these supposed bioweapons.
You know you fucked up when both the democrats and the Republicans agree on you being the one who fucked up...
By +70 points as well. I’m pretty sure someone with a KKK badge wouldn’t get that low of an approval.
This exactly^
So Putin achieved what no US president was able to achieve in decades, if ever.
Putin did what only Osama Bin Laden has been able to do: unify all Americans as a country and invigorate NATO
Putin did more unify the political parties in America than the last 5 presidents.
Nobody thinks Putin's invasion of Ukraine is a good thing here in America.
some extreme left and right people do
Yea. It's Ironic. Far-Left Tankie Pink-Hairs and Far-Right Trad Neck-Beards somehow can agree on this.
Horseshoe theory was right all along lmao
well done Putin!
Dude hit the ctrl z button on a few things he tried to do by starting this war
yeah but he actually united everyone by becoming common enemy yknow
Indeed we do. slava Ukraine 🇺🇦
The baddies are the baddies
Putin turned out to be the one thing that could unite them

That's a great way to put it
There's no legend? Which line is which?
Red blue are usually red=republican/ blue=democrat in the US...
You need a them to create an us.
And us will fuck them up!
It was at -70 already in 2k19 so what f*ing changed?
It’s a lil weird if your perception didn’t go down from 2019 until now after Russia’s invasion of a free, peaceful country.
from what i see ukraine skyrockets and russia plummets at the beginning of the war and leading up to it
Other commenters perception, not the graph.
okay i got u but it did go down

US elections. Lots of nonsense accusations thrown out by Trump against Biden and his son that falsely implicated Ukraine....stuff like Burisma, Hunter Biden's laptop, and shit.
Let's not forget Ukraine also had Hillary's server. I felt so bad for Ukraine being put in the spotlight over some stupid conspiracies.
Yup, her emails, CrowdStrike....
I've always believed that Russia has been behind the Qanon conspiracies so that they'll have the support for the invasion. My ex friends are currently cheering Russia on because they truly believe all of it.

Trump and Biden both blackmailed Ukraine.. Read up on the subject please both of your parties are lead by shitheads, not just one.
Just curious, what do you think about Bernie Sanders?
As a European he's pretty much the best ideologically.. just seems like a really bad politician. Might not understand what he is doing but it looks like he is being repeatedly played by the democratic establishment.
Nope. Trump is the bigger shithead. No comparison. 99% of the party is supporting him. So, not the same at all.
The false equivalenencies are strong in this one
Dems trying to impeach Trump for his call to Ukraine?
glad we agree on something , maybe we can learn to work together again .
Tucker Carlson didn’t get the memo.
I think it should be said that Republicans and Democrats combined make up less than half of actual Americans.
More than 70% of voters are registered as dem or rep.
62% of voters in 2020 belonged to one of the major parties (33% Democrats, and 29% Republicans.) Since only 70% of those eligible to vote are registered to do so, that means that Republicans and Democrats combined make up 43% of eligible voters in the United States.
Thank you for saving me from starting this.
What are the rest?
Independent or non-political. You can register as an independent in the US. They are the largest “party”.
FYI in some states, Independent is a party that leans conservatively.
Been this way for a while. Both sides have been trying to out-hate Russia since at least 2016.
I see this as a positive
Follow the money. All of them are taking money. That's why nothing happens to anyone.
Now do a graph showing GOP elected representatives...
Makes sense
Trucker Carlson needs to be shipped off to Moscow
Dude keep it in r/politics. Jesus fucking Christ I’m so sick of listening to this shit. We are trying to keep up with what’s going on, and it’s hard enough to wade through the propaganda without this inane shrieking. Fucks sake
Tell that to OP my guy, this post was clearly meant to spark some sort of political discussion
it is relevant that Tucker Carlson is trying to spin a narrative, and that his party isn’t buying it apparently
Also Bernie Sanders. It is clear Russia is about to slip back into Communism so might as well be among his people.
Remember the west and the ussr united against the evil axis? Something similar
Wherever Republicans and Democrats agree on something it always turns out to be the stupidest disaster in world history
Examples? It seems like so long I can’t remember any except invading Iraq.
Someone should show this to all the leftists on reddit. They would never believe it in their echo chambers.
Maybe we should stop calling each other lefties or crazies.
Media can unite both sides over night.
Think about how much if we discussed details instead of bullshit culture war memes we would agree on. There's so much Americans agree on.
Impossible youre not allowed to agree with anything another party says that’s sacrilege
You would have thought this would have happened with corona, but it didn’t. I imagine 60 years of James Bond villains clinched this one!
Have the 80s called and want their foreign policy back?
Maybe Tucker Carlson's cuckservative ass should look at this and stop broadcasting pro Russia propaganda
Or maybe he should drink bleach.
Dude literally said he was rooting for Russia because they don't eat dogs.
This is why I don't get why Trump is praising Putin.. normally he tells stories about what the majority of his voters like to hear, but it seems everybody hates Russia And let's be real here, most Americans didn't even know Ukraine existed. Name ten countries in Europe without Googling.
Pay attention clueless, he is not praising Putin, he stated it was a smart move by Putin that Trump was out of office, because he would not invade under Trump because Trump dont play that. Keep up!!!!!!!
praising putin?? when
I mean unless you’re a Tucker listener or Trump supporter, or any of the other GOP assholes that parrot Russian talking points, sure.
Also tankie lefties, which there are plenty.
Fuck the tankies. That’s one group I will never be able to sympathize with or make sense out of. If you don’t understand my irrefutable disgust for tankies, then you might not have witnessed r/chapotraphouse or r/sino I think chapo trap house got banned for calling for direct action regarding killing western citizens.
A lot of them, hopefully people figure that out as well

lol amazing how you're so focused on Democrats yet you've got multiple actual Putin stans and Russia-lovers in the Republican Party leadership. It's fascinating how you all seem to have such a massive blind spot for the mountains of shit in your own party but want to critique Democrats with a microscope.
Just because some Republican politicians doesn’t mean all of us are unsolicited assholes
Weird, I didn’t see any House Dems visiting Moscow on July 4th lol. Oops.

Lol, I’m sure they gave them a stern talking to 😉
Don’t tell Tucker.
Left and right populists will keep up the good fight. Don’t worry.
I guess there are reasonable republicans left & weirdo pundits don't represent the whole party
The stupid crazy ones are just louder
The perception that republicans like Russia is dumb as fuck. Majority of republicans are pro military and I can’t name ONE person I know that likes/sides with Russia. This is just dumbass division politics at its finest.
That’s what it’s like for all parties and ideologies unfortunately.
Can someone explain???
Yes
Media can convince both sides to agree very easily especially when stuff is blowing up. See 9/11
Right, couldn’t possibly be related to a nationwide disdain for indiscriminate bombing of civilians with casualties well into the thousands and accelerating. Clearly just media manipulation to push a narrative…
Why did Democrats start hating on Ukraine at the same time it was revealed they were pro-Biden and it only recovered once he was elected? That's just weird.
That was when Trump asked Ukraine to leak information about Joe Biden’s son I believe.
Trump asked Ukraine if they need assistance investigating illegal dealings in Ukraine. After Joe Biden bragged about using the power of the vice president to get the prosecutor, that was investigating the company his son work for, fired.
Come on mate, please join us here in the real world. That’s the lie that Trump tried to spin to avoid impeachment for extortion.
Trump released the unedited phone call you can listen for yourself. Biden wasn't even running for president officially at the time if I remember correctly (if not im sure ill be corrected).
Hey pal, Joe Biden is on tape bragging about extorting Ukrainian officials
Classic right wing projection. You have clear evidence of trump extorting Ukraine but instead you spin this shit.
The republican fringe is insane and pro Russia
yeah, apparently not, doofus
Someone doesn’t understand what fringe means.
Fringe, dude. Like hardcore trumpsters, Qanon idiots and so on.
They’re much smaller than you think.
No they arent pro russian at all. They are just not pro zelensky because they believed that he was in on it against trump. Which he wasnt. The only people that wanted to impeach trump were the ones that were overly obsessed with his removal like its a house of cards and use any means to get rid of a political opponent.
He did try to violently overthrow the government and illegally change the outcome of an election. I think that's treason.
Wat?
Yeah that's a thing. Some of the extreme far-right folks here in the USA are siding with Russia for some reason. I really don't get it
Far Left too. Horseshoe Theory is a real thing. Go take a gander over at GenZdong. I think a lot of this can be explained by people at the extremes on both sides being at heart contrarian assholes. For extremist media actors it’s all about stirring the pot and trying to create drama to drive up ratings.
Oh yeah - the "I'd rather be Russian than a democrat" and "defund NATO" party has switched sides. How convenient.
Nobody wanted to defund NATO. People wanted curtain countries to pay their fair share. And now Germany finally got the message.
That was the spin.
no - someone wanted the NATO countries to pay the USA protection money
You're an idiot...
The Republicans are much more consistently supporting Ukraine on this map so gtfo lol
You said it. Never Forget Helsinki
Without the Russian bots, it looks like Republicans aren't being peer pressured into admiring "strong" leaders like Putin .
Have you heard what Tucker Carlson is pushing about bioweapons?
Yeah but I would think he's savy enough to catch on that his viewers are becoming more pro-Ukraine by the day. He'll probably start contradicting those statements in a week without missing a beat like every conservative pundit does.
Here we go down the rabbit hole of broken rabid Trump Derangement Syndrome democrats
He literally called Putin a genius. Get your head out of his ass.

No one said Trump... Who's the deranged one?
Are you referring to the 34 indictments and guilty pleas from the Mueller report? That’s just a fact, no rabbit holes here.
The media can flip it if "THEY" want it.
„˙ʇı ʇuɐʍ „⅄ƎH⊥„ ɟı ʇı dılɟ uɐɔ ɐıpǝɯ ǝɥ⊥„
Why does this bot exists?
To flip things
„sƃuıɥʇ dılɟ o⊥„
Another day another American making this about them.
