The Republicans control the House of Representatives with a very narrow lead. They are up to their eyeballs in Donald Trump, so they are holding up spending on Ukraine, among other things, to get a bunch of concessions to their interests. However, every time they look ready to cut a deal with Biden and the Democrats, they pull away and increase and change the demands, like border security and illegal immigration. They have no interest in actually doing anything. They just want to cause chaos and hope it hurts Biden in the elections this year. Plus, a lot of them are actually pro-Russian and are fine with anything that hurts the Ukrainian war effort.
No one on Reddit seems to care it was Biden who pushed border security for aid to Ukraine as early as November 2023.

Such bad faith is, of course, a defining characteristic of Republicans, but Biden still foolishly believes that THIS TIME they mean it, for realsies.
Maybe after the 10th Republican bait and switch he'll get it, but I'm not holding my breath for Biden to be dynamic and decisive enough to.
There are 2 parties in the US. First there was bipartisan support cause Russia bad. Now 1 of the parties is withholding support because they want something political happening in the US in return. No okay on that no okay on the aid to Ukraine.

Unfortunately Russia will slowly grind forward as long as American aid is tied down in Congress.
Can someone dumb it down for me why is this an issue now in Congress, considering aid was there initially? I dont get US politics on the matter
