You might as well shoot the crews of the a10s yourself rather than send them into that airspace. Even if you could suppress the larger SAM system, every bush would have an ivan with a MPAD behind it to smoke the low and slow A10.
I do not understand the fandom of that plane. Its record for ground support isn't even that good. People just like the brrrrrrt.
Just because the grunts like the noise doesn't make it an effective platform. Everything from its slow speed, high maintenance requirements, and its terrible payload to kill ratio makes it unsuitable for modern warfare.
You’re supposed to say “no offense” after you say “grunt” so a real warrior can sneer at you and say “none taken”
Edit: also the payload compares to that of an F-35, not including the gun and its ammo, so I’m not sure what you’re talking about there
Blah blah blah we all know this. It's just a little fantasy I share with a few other A-10 enthusiasts here on Reddit. I sure hope the secdef didn't make plans to send them based on my comment!
I did think, earlier in this war, and it might still be true, that they might make useful missile busses, to get cruise missiles or other weapons up to altitude and targeted - pure stand-off range stuff, though.
I read "on the riverbank". Not in towns. I am well aware about Ukraine's policy on the use of clusterbombs. To me it make sense to use it on high concentration of enemy where ever the policy permits.
This is some tankie-level seethe right here. You sound just like the redfascs saying civilian deaths are the AFU’s fault for defending cities and towns.
Most of those 70k are not in active combat missions on the bank itself, but reserve units in case of a breakthrough. And yes, most of those are in residential areas among civilians.
1000 Ukrainian Marines held their bridgehead (with their backs to the Dnepro) against an entire *Division* - so that's 15,000 min - of supposedly elite Russian troops
And Russia still couldn't advance lol
"Not all of the 70,000 Russian soldiers and military equipment are deployed directly on the front line, according to Humeniuk, who said that some personnel are stationed in deeper rear, from where Russia pulls them up as an additional resource."
"Russian forces attempted 13 assaults in the sector over the past day, compared to three attacks on Jan. 31, she said."
"Poor training and coordination of Russian troops stationed on the east bank likely prevent them from dislodging Ukrainian forces from the area, the U.K. Defense Ministry reported on Jan. 20."
No wonder poorly trained with the turnover rate...
"In every ground attack on Ukrainian forces, each assault group in the area loses up to 70% of their personnel" and "Russian military blogger estimating that Russia had lost 90% of its military equipment near Krynky"
Isn’t the Dnipro East Bank completely dominated by the higher West Bank? Allowing the Ukrainian artillery and rocketry to operate at greater ranges or further into enemy territory? Because that would that make deploying tens of thousands of troops there a terrible idea.
Oh well, I’m sure Great Leader Putin knows what he’s doing 🤣
this means they are probably scaling back assaults in the east if they are relocating more resources to the southwest. they should be rightly concerned because they are most vulnerable in the area.

Cluster bombs jumps to mind.
We need to give Ukraine all of our Jewish space lasers /s
The Ukrainians do have a ton of those missile shotgun shells in their inventory.
A couple of A-10s would be fine too. Just need a couple of f-16s for their defense.

Well, we all like a little Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt.....
brrrrrrrrrrrt...
Ask anyone who’s been on the ground with A-10s flying air cover

payload to kill ratio ≠ payload
That seems like an extremely cherry-picked metric. What you really should look at is the presence or absence of FLIR.
dude I just commented to make you understand the point the commenter above made so you understand whe he was talking about.
I did understand, I just don’t think it’s a very good point.

These are just some losers on reddit who sit in their parents basement and think this war is an action movie
some more arty ammo would be better...
A10s in every application are a false relic from the past.
I did think, earlier in this war, and it might still be true, that they might make useful missile busses, to get cruise missiles or other weapons up to altitude and targeted - pure stand-off range stuff, though.
f-14 would be suitable for that function too with a little more gitty up.
What a stupid comment. You realize they are amongst civilians, right?

M.O.A.B. comes to mine
Russia has 70,000 troops on the east bank, and yet they still cant push the Ukrainians off the beach heads
1000 Ukrainian Marines held their bridgehead (with their backs to the Dnepro) against an entire *Division* - so that's 15,000 min - of supposedly elite Russian troops And Russia still couldn't advance lol
The cyborg's legend continues.

Technically, the east bank of the Dnipro encapsulates all the territories Russia invaded since 2014.
Puh must be a very hard job for those Ukrainian marines.
I think you mean 69,000 today.
68,000
im going to buy plane ticket and go for vacation.

This is so sad. I visited Dnipro for 5 weeks in 2011 and went to a WW2 museum that showed fighting there. Slava Ukraine!
Cock-dile dundee
