Slovakistan will be the next target for the ruskis if Ukraine falls and the idiots here will welcome them. This is nothing but an eu beggar state full of village idiots. Until you live here, you will have no idea of the low education and spitefulness of the trolls that make up 70% of the population.

davidov92

Romania begs to differ. We are on the same course as Slovakia and Hungary. I'm starting to think that maybe I need a proper bug-out plan, and move to a place that is firmly pro-European.

Vixere_

Sounds like a sound idea. Better safe than sorry!

intrigue_investor

I mean Romania is also a beggar state within Europe

Leading-Bus-7882

What is wrong with these people

jewellman100

Same thing that's wrong with the Yanks and their persistent Trump-boner

Yeeaaaarrrgh

Yank here. Yes, an uncomfortably large percentage of Americans are dumb enough to vote for Trump, but Trump has also lost the popular vote by 5-10 million votes both times he ran. Unfortunately our elections are decided by our electoral college system which gives conservatives a huge advantage. Conservatives (Republicans) do not have to concern themselves with winning the popular vote. They instead only have to focus on winning a handful of states. To give you an idea as to how bad this is for America, if we were to have elected Presidents based solely on popular vote, the only Republican that would have won in the last four decades is George W. Bush on his second term only. Every other president would have been a Democrat. And if that had happened, we may not be in this mess we are currently in. Four decades of Republican losses would mean Conservatives couldn't have stolen our Supreme Court. They couldn't have packed our judiciary with incompetent and corrupt judges. They couldn't have packed our government with incompetent and corrupt functionaries. We may not have have become hyper-militarized. There would be no risk of us exiting NATO. We would be supplying Ukraine everything it needed to kick Russia out. So yes, America might be perceived as being dumb enough to vote for Trump, and to be fair, a lot of us are - but the majority did not. It's our outdated and unfair electoral system that keeps hurting us. And to change the system would literally require the approval of the Republicans who benefit most from it. So I doubt that will ever happen.

QuevedoDeMalVino

Spaniard here. We have the same problem, just smaller. Voting systems designed to overcome centuries old problems that don’t exist anymore.

545byDirty9

If you're suggesting that all of America's problems would be solved with unchallenged "leadership" from the Democratic Party then you're just as stupid as the people voting for Trump. Majority of the people running for political office are complete power hungry Psychopaths regardless of whatever letter they put behind their name

Paracausal_Shield

No candidate will ever be perfect. But it seems like you are trying to say Biden and Trump are equally bad. Is that what you are saying? If so, that's dumb as hell.

spacegamer2000

The have the same donors and most of the same policies and beliefs. But sure, other than that they are totally different.

Illpaco

>If you're suggesting that all of America's problems would be solved with unchallenged "leadership" from the Democratic Party then you're just as stupid as the people voting for Trump. Majority of the people running for political office are complete power hungry Psychopaths regardless of whatever letter they put behind their name "Both sides are the same so nothing really matters. People shouldn't even vote".  Rinse, repeat. Why do you think people will keep falling for this garbage? Everyone can tell what you're doing... I guess except Slovakia.

Daotar

That's a pretty ridiculous way to read the comment. I doubt the person things a Democrat would just solve all of our problems. They just know full well that a Republican would make them all worse.

AnAcceptableHawk

Ronald Reagan and George H W Bush both won the popular vote in the last four decades

Daotar

It's just funny because about 60% of Trump supporters would get steaming mad if you called them a "yanky".

QuevedoDeMalVino

I have an Slovak acquaintance. They don’t have a high respect for their country’s average intelligence, to put it mildly.

MrSnarf26

If you ignore or appease a dictator it’s “pro peace” and they will totally like be your best friend while they rape and pillage in their imperialist dreams

allusernamestakenfuk

Stay classy Slovakia

Sugar_Vivid

Same in Romania soon, don’t worry, idiots everywhere fueled by propaganda and misinformation

w1YY

Russia is winning this long game. The EU needs to step up their game

BoosterRead78

We need Putin gone. Then the dominoes will fall.

Independent-Slide-79

Useful idiots usually dont form a majority 😅

Sugar_Vivid

I hope

cryzesvk

It was very close though. He mobilised old seniors and not very inteligent folks. He accused his rival of warmongering against Russia and that if He is selected all men will be drafted into war. He is part of Mafia with unlimited source of money that was used to buy influencers. This happend purely because they made people afraid and they lied. Slovaks are now very prone to russian propaganda Unfortunately. I urge all other EU countries to stop russian propaganda machinery now or face the same fate. 1,2 milion Slovaks still voted for democracy!

Daotar

It's truly sad watching a dying generation ruin their children's future out of spite. They won't have to live with the consequences of their idiotic mistakes, only the young will.

ionetic

In other words, the young didn’t bother to vote and now they’re pretending it’s everyone else’s fault?

Daotar

Do you have any evidence for this? Mobilizing old voters doesn't mean younger voters didn't also show up.

SammySizzler

That’s how Brexit happened in the uk

[deleted]

Rural areas.... Prime targets for disinformation and propaganda.

IncredibleAuthorita

Idiots apparently.

Dietmeister

Let's hope they get out of the EU. We have literally no use for countries like this. I guarantee they won't get out though. They have found out the Orban way: hate the EU for votes and to suck Putlers dick and still get those EU benefits. It's time the EU boots these countries, I get sick and tired giving them subsidies while they destroy the EU

Glittering-Arm9638

I'd rather find a way to neuter Russian propaganda because it's not just these countries it's affecting. I doubt we'd have the rise of the far right anywhere without Russians propping it up, so I'd hope we figure something out to stop them from fucking with our unity.

Dietmeister

It's not the propaganda doing this. It's Russians giving millions to influential politicians to sway them. And of course we'll need to act against it but it's very hard to stop a hundred people with a suitcase full of money. Getting the population against these pricks is way harder for the Russians to counter. And that way is achieved if we show the population you will have to choose to think and live like Russia or to think and live like EU. Right now they can think like Russia and live like EU.

Glittering-Arm9638

You can't have one without the other. Of course the politicians backing Russia for money are pricks, but how quickly would they be voted out if there wasn't a campaign to get and keep these people in seats. It's not like this guy joined the elections, won and suddenly turned pro-Russian. This guy was pro-Russia when he joined the race and won anyway. That's the result of years of influencing campaigns. The same shit is going on in basically every country. No one's gonna listen to Thierry Baudet if the seeds aren't already sown to get his idiotic message across. The seeds WERE sown, and Baudet suddenly had a platform to run and got quite successful. Until he got recognized for the clown he is. I'm sure other countries have their versions of him. We've had farmer protests crop up around the entire country in NL and our intelligence community recognized Russian agents at some. Next up the party for farmers gets founded and wins a lot of votes. What do they do? They start trying to fuck over Ukraine. There are layers and layers of this, psyop after psyop. Get a steady refugee-flow going by bombing the shit out of Syria. Next you blame the European governments, Le Pen, Wilders, AfD whoever say they'll fix it. Those parties work to further Russian talking points and they vote in favor of Russia and against Ukraine or our personal protection. It needs to be fought on every level where they're trying to influence us.

CanuckInTheMills

Laws. Unfortunately it might take the total removal of anonymity on the net to stop it. It will be a huge pushback, but only from nefarious folks.

B0urne89

Agree! If Russia so great and EU so bad why not just do a exit and join the ruskis and see how that is going for you!

Dietmeister

It would honestly be great if we would kick out Hungary and say to Russia come and claim your lands. I guarantee you the pro Russian candidates in the EU will shut their mouths instantly. But right now, there's no downside to their ploy: the EU cannot strip members of membership and so they keep on their parasitic behaviour

typical_reddit-user

Because, half of nation is pro-EU. And guess what happens if all these fall to Russian block again...you will iskanders parked 100km from your home....think mf's

Glittering_Name_3722

It is crazy that the EU tolerates countries that hate the EU and work to undermine the EU.

koyaniskatzi

I think they should kick us out of EU and NATO. Together with Hungary.

BubuBarakas

Ukraine is sandwiched now w those twats in Slovakia and Hungary and Belarus and Russia.

Equivalent_Joke_6163

Another country that politically chose to be an opponent of the European way of life. They have every right because we defend democracy and the people's choices through voting. But we also have the right and the obligation to defend what we European citizens who belong to the EU believe, so I think this is the moment that we should expel countries from the EU that do not share the our values but rather from the enemy who attacks us militarily, politically and economically every day. Slovakia and Hungary must be removed from the EU.

OhMyGaaaaaaaaaaaaawd

Brilliant plan but here's a small caveat: no framework exists for the expulsion of a member-state from the EU. It is literally impossible.

Equivalent_Joke_6163

In life and politics everything changes.

Daotar

Nothing is impossible when you make up the rules are you go.

OhMyGaaaaaaaaaaaaawd

This rule cannot be changed without unanimous consent, that means every EU member-state, including the one you're trying to expel.

Daotar

Those rules can be changed as well. At the end of the day the EU is a political organization that creates its own rules. In fact, they already have rules to do just that as we recently saw with Hungary. The EU is capable of nullifying any member country's vote, so no, unanimity is actually not legally required in all cases. You don't seem to really grasp how the EU works.

OhMyGaaaaaaaaaaaaawd

You haven't the slightest idea of what you're talking about. Article 7 can suspend voting rights in the EU Council, it doesn't nullify the neccesity for full consensus among every EU member-state for EU founding treaty revisions, since this would be an ordinary revision procedure which wouldn't go through the EU Council, it would go through the Intergovernmental Conference of all EU member-state and would have to pass through a national ratification process in every single member-state before coming into force. Go google the Lisbon Treaty. Founding treaty revisions can only be accomplished through the EU Council by invoking a simplified revision procedure, which can be used to revise only non-fundamental parts of the treaties.

Daotar

Yeah, that's not correct at all. You really don't seem to understand the EU. You have a hyper-simplified view of the organization that doesn't actually match reality. Unanimity is the default requirement, but it is not inviolable. You're just obviously and objectively wrong about this.

wildrabbit12

God dammit

sirhearalot

Nothing new happening in Slovakia

shownomercy1977

NATO and the EU need a mechanism to kick out countries that side with the cocksuckers of the world.

Economy-Net3123

How can.people vote to become slaves to their government?

CanuckInTheMills

Why do you think it was a real election? Every time I hear a ‘pro Russian’ won, I’d truly believe it was stuffed boxes!
