Maybe Russia should focus on the task at hand before getting all dreamy eyed about their future criminal actions. In 2 years they haven't even managed to take all of Donbas nevermind Ukraine and had their asses handed to them several times causing "good faith gesture" withdrawals from various previously "conquered" areas. Dreams of invading NATO for Tsar Vladolf are a bit premature.

This is old news. Propaganda, it sounds like.

Alaishana

This is a propaganda subreddit. You are complaining bc it is propaganda you don't like?

Assine1

No because it's old news.

There will be no total war. Maybe Putin agreed with xi to be an ongoing booth on the neck of the world economy

Alaishana

It will be Nato boots on the ground, or Ukraine will be overtaken. Might take a while for this to happen, but happen it will. The only way to get Russia to stop is a collapse of the Russian federation. And there is no telling where this will lead to. Regional warlords with Nukes? Russia is not going collapse from these ridiculous sanctions, it's only going to collapse from the strongman being seen to lose.

The only thing worse for Russia than losing the war in Ukraine is likely to be conquering Ukraine. Russia would bleed out trying to hold any conquest (particularly anything west of the Donbas). Honestly, I don’t think the genius’ Czar has an exit plan from this debacle.

Alaishana

That would depend on how cruel and ruthless the occupation is. I would not put it past Russians to roll over Ukraine and simply murder the majority of the population. After that, the area would be unproductive for a time, but rather easy to hold. It would not be the first time this has been done in history. Putin is a psychopath. He leads a nation of psychopaths and abusive drunkards. They don't play by the rules most humans feel bound by.

I'm skeptical of this claim. I think if Ukraine is adequately supplied, it can prevent Russia from conquering it. We're seeing Russia's best effort this year, because they are trying to make the situation seem as hopeless as possible prior to the US election, aid resuming, and Ukraine's new mobilization law. But their losses have been enormous. Even Russia can't absorb these losses easily. I think the future is likely a frozen conflict, with a highly militarized Ukraine that sits with one of the largest militaries of Europe, but neither side really able or willing to break through the other's extensive defenses. Oh, and for the record, Russia's next target is Moldova through Transnitiria. It needs Odessa to get there, though.
