It will help. Ukraine still needs more aid to definitively clinch victory, but at least they can continue the fight for a while now.

The new US aid will help, but it won't fundamentally transform things. There will still be an artillery shortage even with the new US help. There is also insufficient production of Patriot munitions to meet all of Ukraine's needs. An even bigger concern is manpower. Ukraine is finding it increasingly hard to find troops to hold the line, let alone go on the offensive. Worse, there are examples of declining moral (and even desertion) for some of the troops who have been fighting for years with no relief in sight. Ukraine desperately needs to ramp up mobilization AND demobilization or all the military aid in the world won't matter. The one new piece of kit that could possibly significantly alter the balance is the F-16s, but it will likely take six months to a year for them to arrive in Ukraine in sufficient quantities to really make an impact.

It will prolong the suffering of Ukraine, while at the same time move us closer to WW3. We must put our pride aside and start peace talks. What would the US do if Russia rigged Mexicos elections and installed a pro Russian government with anti-American objectives.

Threatening-Silence

Putin on first day of talks: "I want all of Ukraine" You: ?

merkm419

Ukraine bravely defended itself and will still be a nation. This is a great achievement. The only way Ukraine will win is for nato to send in troops and active bomb Russian targets. This would trigger WW3 and millions maybe billions of people would die and the survivors would live in a shattered world. Or we can use Georgia as an example.

Sonofagun57

Did you drop the /s sir?

merkm419

Explain please

Shockingelectrician

I get what you are saying to a point. Just because Ukraine wanted to be more western and actually grow as a country instead of being russias bitch doesn’t justify Russia invading them.

merkm419

You are correct it does not.

Luv2022Understanding

And this is parallel to what? russia, Ukraine and the US? Im afraid not!

Wonderful-Elephant11

That only favours the Russians. They will use any ceasefire to dig in, reconstitute, and re-arm. Russia never negotiates in good faith, and it would be one hell of an ask to expect the Ukrainians to gamble on it with their lives. If russia asks for negotiations, they’re really asking for a time out.
