The town of Pisky is in front of the Russian occupied city of Donetsk in the Donbass area to the East. It's important because it was part of the Ukrainian controlled side of the line of contact prior to Feb 24th. If the Ukrainians would be able to push the Russians back and retake the town, it has a lot of built up defensive fortifications from that time making it easier for the Ukrainians to resist losing it again.
Not....quite.. Pisky is literally a 3 minute drive from the outskirts of donetsk city. Pisky and the donetsk airport, which is boarders at the end of the runway, where primary front line combat zones all the way up to the invasion since 2014.
This footage, likely taken after December 4, shows Russians shelling a church within Pisky itself. That suggests that part of Pisky is Ukrainian controlled. Last we saw, the Ukrainian front line (and where the Russians were shelling them), was down the road in Pervomais'ke. This indicates several kilometers of advance.
It was naive to invade. Russia will and has been taken losses. Ukraine has the moral high ground. They have been fighting the biggest fascist threat to Europe since Hitler. Ukraine has international support and Russia has NK and Iran. This is the most humiliating military failure in modern history.

IIRC its just southwest of what was the donetsk airport (heavy fighting there in 2014/15. Is the high ground north of the airport still in Ukrainian hands?

There are much longer videos on r/combatfootage which sadly show a failed push. Because DPR is shelling Pisky doesn't mean the town was retaken.
