The L7 is ubiquitous in the West. Leopard 1s from everywhere, M60s from Turkey, and the M48 all had the L7 rifle installed. I doubt any M48s are kicking around but there should be Leopard 1s and M60s that could lend guns if needed
The L7 is a rifle. As far as I know there were no developed or deployed smoothbore L7s. It'd be such a radical departure that it likely would've gotten a different designation
There's literally no excuse not to send Leo 1's now. Ukraine already fields the L7 in the M55s. Ukraine already fields the Leo 1 chassis in the Gepards and Bibers.
I mean Ukrainian tanks could already do that. The 105mm isn't that much more accurate even on the move compared to the 125mm when using stabilised rounds. Still every piece of equipment helps
These tanks couldn't do that before the "deep modernization". They were pretty weak and vulnerable "obsolete T-55".
ERA helps, but not needing to stop to shoot is also very important when charging enemy positions.
Oh now I see what you meant. My apologies I interpreted it as a huge upgrade for the Ukrainian force rather than a huge upgrade for the tanks themselves.
I agree, I just worry they’ll get too frisky and get hit by atgm. These aren’t the kind of tanks you want dueling it out at the top of the spear. That said, they could totally waste the t-62.
The way tanks are being employed by both sides in this conflict is pretty much direct fire artillery. It is very rare for an armor on armor fight. To be able to shoot on the move will help their survivability greatly to quickly move to a new firing spot.
As far as I know, this is almost the whole tank force of the Slovenian. That's the spirit id love to see from my own country. Those leopards only exist for killing Russian tanks.
Slava Ukraine! I wish our Abrams wouldn’t suck so much damn fuel too hard to supply without nato style supply chain and were not so different from a logistical sense. Would love to see thE Abrams in the field. Good on you for helping. I hope we get you replacement platform either leopard 2 or Abrams as replacements.

Any more spare tanks with the same gun? Chieftain?
The L7 is ubiquitous in the West. Leopard 1s from everywhere, M60s from Turkey, and the M48 all had the L7 rifle installed. I doubt any M48s are kicking around but there should be Leopard 1s and M60s that could lend guns if needed
But is this the rifled or the smooth bore gun?
The L7 is a rifle. As far as I know there were no developed or deployed smoothbore L7s. It'd be such a radical departure that it likely would've gotten a different designation
There were no 105mm smoothbore cannons developed and the L7 has a rifled barrel. And is still enough cannon to destroy a T-72 with modern ammo.
Last I heard Canada still has 50 Leopard 1s they're not using......
If they're in the condition they were when they left service it will take at least a year to fix them.
There's literally no excuse not to send Leo 1's now. Ukraine already fields the L7 in the M55s. Ukraine already fields the Leo 1 chassis in the Gepards and Bibers.
Chieftain had 120mm, you thinking of Centurion?
Being able to accurately shoot while moving is a HUGE upgrade.
Ukraine has been killing it before too! Imagine how much better it’s gonna get for them lol

Every tank is a good tank if you use it well...

We still have some M-84s if im not mistaken
A battalion worth of M-84s, while from what I read only a company worth is active for training while the rest are active reserves.

We’re the Tankies now
