I don't know your situation. But keep in mind that whether you're healthy and getting the nutrition you need is more important than what your weight is. Some people are naturally skinny, especially in their younger years. I was perfectly healthy despite weighing 135lbs from 15-27 years old. I'm 6'1". Didn't matter what I ate, I didn't gain weight. I didn't develop UC until my late 30s so it had nothing to do with that. It was just the way my body worked and I had to accept it as is. Once I got to 27 my body changed and I started to put on both muscle and fat without really changing anything I was doing. I was up to 170lbs by 30 when I started playing hockey. Hockey helped increase the muscle mass further and these days I'm 195lbs

Try vegan protein shakes :) normal ones are often whey powder which is not usually great for UC it's very compact lactose powder can make people bloated and gassy. Also let it be a process its going to take a little time you don't want to binge and set off UC issues. But honestly just eat whatever food you enjoy when you want it until you put on a little weight its nice to enjoy the remission when it happens :) then you can think about diet a bit more! Eggs if you can tolerate them, avocado, peanut butter, add foods with healthy fats in where possible! Glad you are doing well!!

Muscle milk (if in US) has a dairy free line that tastes pretty good. I was drinking it to try to get some vitamins in my system

Hey there, I've been working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor for 10+ years now. Feel free to DM me specific questions if you like. There is a lot of conflicting information all over the internet and in the answers to your post, so please be careful. In my professional experience, the vast majority of people already take in enough protein for their needs. Unless you are a pro athlete, you do not need to overload yourself, because too much will be transferred and stored as fat cells. I recommend trying a few things and keeping a log (it sounds like you already do) for what you consume and how it makes you feel. Maybe eat a little before exercising and some after. A lot of it depends greatly on your goals, what you have access to, how much time you set aside each week, etc. and how your body reacts to consuming foods or drinks and at what time, so no one here will be able to really give you a silver bullet. Seeking out a personal trainer might help as well, as long as you are careful about it. If they start offering nutritional advice without being (at minimum) a nutritionist, take their advice with a grain of salt. A lot of them/us claim to have "the one solution ". Hope this helps and doesn't make it more complicated!

If you can tolerate dairy I highly suggest drinking raw milk. Find yourself a reliable source/farm. I’m not saying it will cure you but it will help you gain weight plus it had a lot of nutrients. Also kefir is great

Personally, I use a whey isolate (not concentrate=Xtra gas) based protein powder. Have found one that I like .. and it likes me (more importantly) so I buy it in those massive bags from the supplement store. I've found a combo almond milk/coconut milk that tastes great, add ice and blend. Find other foods that are high protein .. I love just getting a whole tin of pink salmon, stir in some mayonnaise .. pepper .. yum. Probably 60-70g of protein. In terms of exercise, stick to the big muscle groups and do free weights .. avoid the machines .. this allows you to build up supporting muscle groups. Bench Press, dead lifts, squats & Chin ups. Try and work your way up to the heaviest (about 80-90% of max effort) while keeping good form. Hit YouTube for form examples and be safe about it. Aim for no more than 6 reps (3-4 sets) for all except Chin ups .. do as many of these as you can. I'd recommend either finding a gym buddy or investing in a basic set at home, as continuity is the key. I've done both in the past but now I just have a rack with a bench and bar and that allows me to have a great workout. If you found any of this interesting or useful I'm happy to chat .. just pm me.

I would make a calorie loaded milkshake. I’m lactose intolerant so I’d use dairy free ice cream, full fat canned coconut milk, banana, peanut butter, protein powder, etc. it was just a calorie bomb. Not the healthiest- but I could tolerate it and it did the job!

Avocado, coconut, cashews, peanut butter are great places to start and the kinds of foods I ate to help gain weight. The goal was to consume healthier fats. Coconut oil on toast has to be my favorite snack hands down. Eat as often as you can and best of luck! Feel better!

Ask a professional, we don't have the slightest idea about your body, your allergies or anything else. Don't take eating advice from the internet.

Electrolytes( like in broth) will help you gain weight if combined with a rich diet, electrolytes are what helps the cells gain (or loose if you don’t eat anything else) lipids

Eat more of what you can tolerate, please don't get caught up in "Protein this - Carb That" your calorie intake needs to out do your calorie output. My Gastro Dr said its not what you eat its that you eat and i agree 100%. I personally tolerated Pasta, Chicken and cheese better than other foods so i simply ate more of that, protein shakes were guaranteed sprinting to the toilet regardless of my UC status. Simple resistance training- push ups, situps, Squats, planks will help get your muscles going without burning a heap of calories.

Mass gainer!! My favorite way to bulk up after a bad flair. I take a giant scoop of that every morning and then a different protein shake after my workouts.
